With all this cut content showed, someone should really make the Ultimate New Vegas Strip restoration mod, with its missing areas and its interior cells placed how they were supposed to be. I'd defintely download such a mod
Fuck I’d pay for that mod. With all the work it would take and how amazing it would be, it sounds like it would have been worth the money. Even a mod where someone fleshed out the game and brought back some of the assets and ideas that got cut livening up some of the quieter and less worthwhile areas would be amazing.
A major issue with this is that the engine itself is laughably unstable and starts to creak under its own weight if you get too ambitious with how much stuff you wanna throw in a cell, there's not really any workaround for that
I hope someone would take the time to make a mod that restore a lot of the cut content, but I guess no one wants to mess with the engine, I still have hope after seeing that a stalker mod is literally a new game with a updated engine by the modders tho.
@@oliverato exactly. the engine just isn't worth messing with for something like this. the best you can hope for is someone makes it for FO4: NV whenever that gets released.
I've always loved glitching out of New Vegas playable area, and just exploring the vast emptiness, unfortunately the map is so incredibly massive that I've only explore around the area of the long 15, and passed quarry junction, so next time I play I'm definitely going to be looking at these new locations.
Bethesda literally cut Obsidian's development time because they saw the game was looking fucking awesome, and they had a deal that they would pay them a lot if the game had a score over 9. So they rushed Obsidian to finish the game as fast as possible, hoping it would be buggy and unfinished, with the critics giving New Vegas worse scores than It deserved as a result. And then Bethesda had an excuse to not pay Obsidian all the royalties they deserved, almost sending them to bankrupt. Yeah, fuck Bethesda.
@@HannibalKantter That's a damn lie, the publishing team for Obisidian agreed with that time from the very beginning so they are the ones to blame. You can see the interviews of Obisidian members talking about the deal and how it went down here on TH-cam, plus Bethesda-Obisidian relations during development, and what you're saying is quite literally flatout bogus. This is why FNV fans have a bad name, shit like this.
Honestly if they took fallout nv and rebuilt the game to include almost all ideas, cut content, post content, and everything in between then resold fallout new vegas as a new standalone game for retail price, I wouldn't complain one bit. Imagine westside being the way it was envisioned and the map being as sprawling and hardcore as intended.
I wanna say the strip was supposed to be one great big cell. That’s now totally possible considering the Xbox series x n stuff. I honestly wouldn’t complain if it looked half as good as f4
My head-canon is that the southern and western gates were there like a decade before for advertising the strip, but maybe due to fiend attacks they were walled up. Same with the outer buildings being ruins now

Even if Las Vegas wasn't directly hit by nukes, the rest of the United States would have collapsed, and much of Las Vegas would be destroyed in the chaos.
i think it makes alot of sense. Since vegas wasnt hit alot of the population would have freaked out and possible opened or engaged in diplomacy with near vaults. It seems that the courier never technically completed their contract. The responsibility is on you until the package is delivered and payment is brought to Johnson Nash. Maybe I should've included the instructions as well with the contract penalties. At best this is a defense of your current circumstances. Courier is a high-risk high-reward profession.
To further elaborate: Benny is a third party. So him shooting you in the head does not void your contractual obligations to Mr. House and the Mojave Express. At best being shot is a defense for the courier's obvious breach of contract for failure to deliver.

@@noobikus5475 Could be! One benefit the Courier has is that if they're talking to Johnson Nash, usually you're making the effort to retrieve it and that's a defensible enough reason. And he's got more pressing issues at the moment (seeing as Daniel Wyand is literally a corpse outside the Mojave Express). There's supposedly a main office back in New California, but we never interact with them so we have no way of knowing how they would react to receiving this information. From a gameplay and development standpoint it makes sense why they might not prioritize this. Most people I talk to don't even read the contract so I'm not surprised that most people didn't notice this detail.
as someone who's familiar with them, the hobo language being cut is really heartbreaking for me because of the lost worldbuilding/environmental storytelling potential. it would've been awesome to see them drawn on random npc houses and whatnot - imagine trying to find out who sold boone's wife to the legion and seeing the "dishonest person lives here" marking on jeannie may crawfords house? even if you don't know what it means, you'd feel like there's something worth checking out.
I always saw the NV Medical Clinic's logo and thought doctor (maybe I am a hobo), and it makes me sad that there could've been an entire series of signals observant players could have used to get immersed in the world. I get the feeling these might have been recycled into the shadowmarks from Skyrim though, and you can find an entire book on what they mean in the Thieves Guild's inner sanctum.
Imagine a full redux with a 1:1 scale map. Allowing for the density of New Vegas to be contrasted by desolate stretches of empty desert. The New Vegas we got was and still is tremendous, but for me it was just a taste of the full potential this setting has. New Vegas as we saw it in the comics and concept art was humongous and seeing it implemented in a redux (hopefully with the option to have the classic janky combat we all know and love) is a hope of mine for the future. Btw I love the channel, it really brings to light many aspects of NV I didn't know about. I'm still discovering new things in my current play through.
The road the Courier walks in New Vegas is about 120 miles long. Imagine walking 120 in-game miles. I think a remaster of that caliber would need a Chrysalis Highwayman.
@sierrahs.2306 Not exactly 1 to 1, but still exponentially larger. Any large building can be seen from nearly anywhere on the map because the scaling was too small. Hell, quarry junction, a location that is a tiny speck on a real life map, takes up a few persentages of the map, which makes no sense whatsoever.
I'm always conflicted when I watch these episodes, the amount of research and the quality of the videos are top notch. The fact so much was cut from the game is really sad.

I feel because of the engine they had to abandon a lot of their ambitions. If there was more development and a better engine this game would have been untouchable in terms of sales and the possibilities of what you could do in game. If they were to remake the game with all of their ambitions and resell it, I would buy it in a heartbeat. However for now we can only look at it and be interested in what could of been.
The engine is awful and definitely hampered development, but the limitations of available content were almost entirely because of the PS3's lack of available memory. As far as development time goes, it's been stated that Bethesda implemented the deadline, but it's also been stated that Obsidian themselves implemented the 18 month deadline because they were on the brink of bankruptcy and wanted to push the game out earlier to recoup money spent on development.
Perhaps one content that bugs me the most is entrance behind welcoming sign. It is because it seems that it would be relatively easy to implement, it would make going to Strip less of a chore and damn, it would just fit so well...
Would be amazing if a group of modders banded together to restore as much content as reasonably possible in an "all-in-one" overhaul mod. Technology is far removed compared to when the game originally released that I'm sure major changes could be made without tanking performance too much. One can only hope.
That's not the case sadly. The engine is still built for 2010 hardware at the end of the day. I've got a few mods that does stuff like open up Freeside and the Strip and perfomance is notably worse even on a modern machine.
@@hyhy5083 Ah, that's a shame. So major changes to the game's engine would have to be made to make these larger cut content to work? Wonder if it would be possible to optimize some of these to at least be passable.
@@the_real_Kurt_Yarish Exactly, a major rework of the engine, or an entirely new one would be needed. Which is of course quite a tall order for amateur modders/programmers. But there is dim light at the end of the tunnel. There's a project called OpenMW, which is a project that seeks to recreate Morrowind in an opensource engine. There has been some talk about adapting the project into an opensource fallout 3/New vegas clone down the line. Which would theoritcally allow for a complete fan remake of New Vegas. But we're probably years off such a thing.
@@hyhy5083 I've never heard of OpenMW; the fact that modders are going far enough to attempt a project like that is exciting to hear. Reminds me of the people trying to remake New Vegas in Fallout 4's engine. Maybe they could work on returning cut content while they're at it? A tall order for sure, but one can hope.
You wouldn't necessarily need a new engine to make open areas with decent performance, l believe one of the main reasons Freeside and The Strip Open run badly is because of badly optimised meshes. If you fix them, you can see quite a drastic performance improvement.
I have a suspicion that the "bomb crater" at 7:16 is the original Devil's Throat. The real-life equivalent is on the eastern side of Lake Mead, a bit northeast of the accessible one in-game, so maybe it was moved to its current location after they scaled back the Legion content? EDIT: Checked it in-game myself, location checks out. I think it was moved.
When your finished with this series what do you plan to do next? If it was me I’d hire a team of modders and try to finish the game. From the looks of things it needs probably 10-15 more location, probably 50-80 more quests, a bigger strip, thousands of lines of dialogue, more weapons and armor, and that’s it. The devs got what they got in 18 months but any modder that tries to do this would have to dedicate years of their life to finish this. Of course if you do then people will be praising you for years so it’s not a bad trade. Who knows,, maybe Bethesda might buy your mod for millions and sell it as an official remaster
Actually I miscalculated. Maybe 40-60 more quests involving the brotherhood, powder gangers, great khans, the strip and its families, the legion and a few ncr quests. And it won’t take a lot to do it. Probably 2-3 years

I remember thinking to my self how strange it was that Caesars Palace wasn't a location in New Vegas despite the fact that one of the main factions was modeled on the Roman Legions. There could have been an entire quest line around the Legion trying to take control of it for symbolic reasons.
A major issue with this is that the engine itself is laughably unstable and starts to creak under its own weight if you get too ambitious with how much stuff you wanna throw in a cell, there's not really any workaround for that
that wouldn't be a mod. that would be an all new game.
I hope someone would take the time to make a mod that restore a lot of the cut content, but I guess no one wants to mess with the engine, I still have hope after seeing that a stalker mod is literally a new game with a updated engine by the modders tho.

imagine if FNV had FO4's development time. 5 years instead of 1.5 years...
And then Bethesda had an excuse to not pay Obsidian all the royalties they deserved, almost sending them to bankrupt.

the hobo language was probably recycled into the shadow signs in skyrim, just way less cool. in skyrim they had a rare book that told you the sign meanings but other than that you just memorize them
Also the railsigns in Fallout 4
Kinda wish they had stayed with the concrete walls for new vegas, it would sell the idea that new vegas was never hit better then it does in game
Settlements much like fallout 4 would have been founded and get completely fucked by war and shit with raiders. So the makeshift fence kind of works because house was basically unconscious due to the lack of power and a reliable os
It seems that the courier never technically completed their contract. You were supposed to bring payment to Johnson Nash or be forced to contend with mercenaries/reclamation teams but in most cases you forget about it as soon as Act II starts. I suspect this was planned at some point but abandoned due to time constraints. Got anything on this TriangleCity?
I'd imagine getting shot and buried alive makes the contract null
@@ben.patrick Nope. Because you survived. There's also a whole dialogue tree about recovering the package when you talk to Johnson Nash in Primm.
"CONTRACT PENALTIES

Failure to deliver the proper recipient may result in forfeiture of your advance and bonus, criminal charges, and/or pursuit by mercenary reclamation teams. The Mojave Express is not responsible for any injury or loss of life you experience as a result of said reclamation efforts."
Edit: Failure to deliver includes getting shot in the head.
@@E1_DE3 a know what you mean, maybe they planned certain dialog with Nash about it but cut it. Now in the Vanilla Version ( if i call it that after seing the cut Content XD ) Nash isn't angry about it or sued you for it. He was more like fuck it, i have bigger problems than that.
I doubt that, unless Bethesda was really looking over Obsidian's cut content.
Fallout 4 also has them in the form of "railsigns"
The race track with all of the ants is a goof taste of what nv could have been

Will you be doing honest hearts and the other dlc’s?
Yep, the DLC's will be the final video
Probably 2-3 years
And the fiends, can’t forget the fiends
