I mean the mod folder i ended up using was twice as big as the game.
Fun fact about Cazadors: their jittery, erratic movements were the result of a bug. They were originally going to fly around and walk slowly when on the ground. Josh Sawyer saw their animations glitch out, resulting in the twitchy movements, and said "Hey, that's terrifying. Make them move like that intentionally."

I was born and raised in Las Vegas, and lemme tell you when this came out I was so happy with the little touches they get right. They did an excellent job paying homage to real places and events. The crashed bomber in lake mead? A famous diving spot! The mormon fort? Been there! Quarry Junction? That's where I go shooting targets (thankfully no deathclaws)
Even the voice of Mr. New Vegas is one I grew up with hearing. Wayne Newton's face and voice was all over town!

@ZimBeckler if you look at the concept art for the original full scale vegas they wanted to make, it probably would've essentially been 1:1. The artwork is just gorgeous too.
My brother passed away a few years ago. When I was around 10 I saw my brother play new vegas and used to watch him for hours all the time. Some of my best memories as a child.

It really goes to show how amazing that development team was sadly a lot of them are gone now but for a moment they had maybe one of the most talented teams in the history of the industry and they made an all time great game in just 18 months just thinking how it could have been with 3 or more years of development maybe the best game of all time hell even now it’s top 5 for me and top 10 if I remove my fanboy bias lol

Incidentally, you CAN give Boxcars 15 Med-X as he requested, and he WILL take them. It does not cause him to overdose, though. You just get a giant karma boost for a lot of wasted time.
You can also attack him nonlethaly and he will briefly forget that his legs are broken.

True, Jason Spisak killed it, though I really wish there was more male VA’s for this game. I love Yuri Lowenthal, he’s one of my favorite American VAs to ever do it-but he voices like 70% of the male characters in the game, and once you notice it, it’s nearly impossible not to recognize him every time he pops up, which is extremely often.

@@Boofcans Although funny it is actually not real, and uncharacteristic of him because he does indeed do taxes on the monorail, the strip and Prim (one of the endings), and he isn't a libertarian (a misconception many people have, but even he does call himself an autocrat)

One thing I like about New Vegas is coming out of Fallout 3 it showcases how different society is on the West Coast compared to the East Coast

Fun fact, most of Obsidian at the time was made up of inter-play higher ups, after Bethesda took over fallout they had to close but later reformed as Obsidian, so the old fallout guys made FNV, may have left out details but that is the barebones of it
It's a bit more complicated then that. The publisher Interplay had a development team called Black Isle, who made Fallout 1 and 2. Interplay closed the studio (don't know why) shortly after Fallout 2. Several members of Black Isle opened their own development studio, Troika Games. They made some much-loved but poor selling games (most notably Vampire: the Masquerade: Bloodlines) before going under. Some of those developers (including some from Black Isle) then opened Obsidian.
The moment I truly fell in love with this game was when I realized I didn't have to side with any of the factions in the end. This is my desert. My Nevada. My New Vegas.
My desert. My dune. My Arrakis.
I just wish the Yes Man ending was more fleshed out. It would be nice if you could win by uniting several smaller factions under your rule. I would turn The Kings into my muscle and rule the Mojave with a blue suede fist!
My personal headcanon for the Yes Man ending is that all the factions you are at least Liked by you end up brokering deals between, peace between, and so on. Likely spending the rest of your life doing so, depending on how many and how different the factions are.
Fun fact: Outside the legion, everyone pronounces Caesar’s name wrong. It’s actually pronounced “Kai-zar”
Which is interesting because it also shows how people feel about him. Arcade knows how to pronounce it correctly but still refers to him as Caesar since he dislikes him.

The fact that they give you alternate dialogue for low INT runs was completely unnecessary, and I adore it.
You should play 1 or 2 they do the same but under 3 intelligence you speak in only grunts and moans

Try out fallout 1, 2, and Arcanum. Completely different gameplay and perfectly fine if that’s not your thing, but good god low int runs in those are amazing. Arcanum is probably the best at it (you can play someone literally too stupid to read, get loads of quests, and you can get literally everyone’s names completely wrong on purpose. Vergil, a companion, will be on the verge of tears constantly if you’re stupid enough, and you can call him by his REAL name, “Vghaghhhhyhtst”, which he will react to accordingly. It’s amazing), but the first two fallouts can be really dumb fun, literally, for a sentient rock

Fun fact about the bar in boulder city, if you are wearing an NCR uniform and you don't have good NCR reputation, that store owner will tell you that NCR is not allowed to be in the bar, and you will get a dialogue that basically says, "I'm not actually in the NCR" (I don't remember the exact verbiage.
And now I have once again learned something new about New Vegas.

Strange game that was developed in a year better than all of Bethesda's games
Better in some ways, and weaker in others, but overall I enjoy New Vegas more out all of the 3D fallouts.
If you want to get technical, this game was partially developed by Bethesda, because it borrows the same engine and a ton of the same graphics and sound assets, as well as a very similar combat system, from Fallout 3. The combat system from Fallout 3 was actually pretty good, but the New Vegas team did a much better job of making interesting characters, factions, and quests, which interact with each other in interesting ways.
I think the reason is that some of the devs worked on Fallout 1&2. More passion for the universe they built than Bethesda will ever have.

I am absolutely flabbergasted. I mod the game. I went through the game files a million times over and only with your video i found out about Karl going after you. New Vegas is the gift that keeps on giving.

Actually, the opening quest with goodsprings is even better, because they (specifically sunny smiles) will teach you about magazines and how they can temporarily boost your skills, and if you explore first you might walk into the schoolhouse and learn this yourself. This generally means no matter how you built your character you still should be able to pass a few checks through magazine boosts.
Additionally, if you somehow have 1,000 caps, you can give those caps to chet as a 'hidden' option that only shows up if you own that many caps when he initially refuses to help.

I have been prepping a Tabletop Fallout RPG lately, and as part of it, i have been reading the Fallout Project Van Buren design documents. This being the cancelled Fallout 3 that Black Isle never got to finish, thanks to Wizards of the Coast buying the DnD franchise and cancelling Baldurs Gate 3: The Black Hound, also being made by Black Isle at the time, for no good reason, which made them go broke. Anyways.... The Van Buren design documents detail the idea that for each and every area, there should be a list of skill checks, and that each possible build should be considered in each area, so that the player can always leave feeling satisfied that their build was put to use. You can see that they brought this idea forward to New Vegas when they made it.
FYI steam has new vegas on sale for 8$ + all dlcs until april 24th. One of my favorite games of all time but i never finished the dlcs so now i get to.
Runs great on my potato laptop so nows a great time for anyone to hop in.
30:07 Another nice touch: if you were to walk down the Interstate from the north, away from Quarry Junction towards Goodsprings, there’s a dialogue change from Chomps. Stuff like that makes this game so great

I think it’s neat there is little bits of dialogue depending on the faction that sent you to dispose of house.

They were so obvious and tried so hard to be so obvious that the Legion are evil. But you’ll get people online that are like “well, the NCR makes you pay taxes, so…”

House ultimately only cares about his own success. He'll say anything to convince you that the other factions are bad for the wasteland (even when he is guilty of the same / similar shortcomings) because they're actually bad for him
I think my favorite thing about the faction reputation is that fame and infamy AREN'T mutually exclusive, which leads to some fun faction rank names.
As for "reactive" stuff 2 that I like are Killing Victor (multiple times even) and him still showing up, which you can ask about in Vegas ("I thought I killed you") and his response is basically "It's a lot harder to put ol Victor in Boot Hill than you think" and the other being sabotaging the Legion at every turn before visiting The Fort for the first time, Caesar ringing off all the trouble you caused him then being bewildered that you showed up is a lot of fun.
Another I like is how you can talk to Sarah from Vault 21 and she knows doc Mitchell. You can then talk to doc Mitchell again and learn more about what life was like in the vaults.

You forgot to mention the underground fighting pits where you can collect eggs belonging to some wasteland creatures including deathclaws and getting them to compete against other creatures for caps.
I haven't played NV for probably a decade now but if memory serves, you can access the fighting pits through the sewers of Freeside, which really solidified the world building in this game for me!

The funniest part about the mutant egg quests is that the main final reward is having sex with the ring master.
In a playthrough I'm doing, I've collected the Red Lucy eggs fighting monsters on the pits with satchel charges, grenades and a powerfist. Sometimes they carry eggs and you "just" need to get 12 and it turns into a pile that you can bring to her. Juicy caps and XP on the spot. Didn't know about the Ranger Takedown technique though, I may add that to the mix to get the final Deathclaw eggs I need.

And you can nail the ringleader chick
Something of note: you can just ignore the Ghost Town Gunfight quest entirely and leave it for later, and instead go straight to the NCRCF to do quests for the Powder Gangers and get some positive karma ahead of time.
You can even double cross both the Powder Gangers and NCR at the same time, by stealing the plans for the attack, promising to help the attack, then sneaking in and taking out all the other Powder Gangers while Stealth Boy'd. Talk to Eddie afterwards, and if you never got spotted taking everyone out, you can throw the plans at him, sneak out, and talk to the NPC you were supposed to to start the NCR attack. You'll get the reward from Eddie, then turn in the reward to the NCR.
I've played this game dozens of times over the years and never known this!
I always save Ghost Town Gunfight until after I do the prison missions but I had no idea about the second part. 😲

The encounter with Karl wearing his legion outfit has once again convinced me New Vegas is a living breathing entity that evolves and grows, but slowly enough we don't notice. Whenever nobody is looking, another branch of dialogue pops up.

It is. In one play through I did everything I could in a legion play through for Caesar and right before the battle of Hoover dam I took him out.

I got this game on Black Friday 2010 on the 360. It was all I played for about 2 years. Truly a masterpiece. I think it was so good because obsidian didn’t really have to worry about making the engine or making any new sprites (almost everything was recycled/ used unused sprites from Fallout 3.) During the 18 months of development they just focused on world building and immersion. Bethesda honestly helped them by giving them a 18 month deadline imo.
Awesome video man, incredible deep dive into the thought process of these characters and factions. I usually just sit down and zone out and pick the options that I personally would choose, never thinking about all the interweaving pieces.
By the way, the ghouls didn't do your boy Chris dirty. They kept telling him he wasn't ghoulified and overreacted to something. He kept not listening. At this point, the worst you can say about the ghouls is that they decided "if we can't get him to stop being delusional, might make the best out of that hand". Convince Chris of the truth, help him accept that the mess was at least in part the fault of his mule-headedness, course correct the rockets so they get closer, and the ghouls actually come back and help Novac later... And presumably pay Chris back.

Too many games are called rpg’s just because they have a few stats or damage numbers -things that technically are part of the rpg formula but when it comes to the actual role playing part very few games get that right and new vegas is one of them. So many (meaningful) choices in the game with actual repercussions and changes to the game world…..something Bethesda never got right and probably never will
Bethesda does a great job at making worlds worth exploring filled with a lot wonder, but they are subpar at the writing and making choices that feel impactful. I hope Fallout 5 can change that.
Bethesda did good in morrowind,… others games not so much.

There are so many small touches, like if you wear a powder gangers uniform while trying to free Beagle in Primm he'll freak out saying "I've told you powder gangers all I know!".
Oh, and in Novac, a good town to get drunk by drinking 25 bottles of alcohol (to get the Daytripper Perk, which is VERY good), talk to the doctor with the 2 guards about curing your addiction to alcohol :)
9:05 is the point where I decided to download the game and play. Four months later, I just beat the game, and I’m going back now to complete the DLC’s. Great video and thanks for getting me to play

It’s probably unsurprising to learn that Novac and Come Fly With Me are some of the earliest designed quests / areas in New Vegas and didn’t get the development and one-overs that I think most other areas of the game did
Hey we got Boone, and No Bark out of that so there are some diamonds in Novac.
@@Boofcans absolutely. I still like them I just think that part of the map would’ve been even better with more polish. IIRC Goodsprings was one of the last completed areas.
I'd argue Novac is earliest point where the game truly becomes good even despite Come Fly with Me being long aah quest.
While Goodsprings, Primm, Mojave Outpost etc all have good quest (singular mind you) but I feel like the early game of NV is a wee bit weak? Still better than F3 but also still very weak compare to when you reach Novac and especially Freeside
@@danielsurvivor1372Yeah, the game really doesn't pick up until you reach Freeside/Vegas and are around level 10-15. Before that it's kinda just jacking off in the desert, killing bugs and bandits

Dude I played when it first came out in 2010 and every subsequent year I still discover something new. They packed in so many small details
might just be me but I found out recently how much of the game I've been missing because I accidently end up playing very similar from playthrough to playthrough. I made a conscious effort this playthrough to look for different weapons and unique ways to end quests and I'm baffled how much stuff I missed.
@@evelynsahoe8896 I've beaten the game and most of the quests in a multitude of way since the game released. Only found out a couple months ago that you can completely irradiate CottonWood Cove. Later on, when Caesar wants to meet you, the guy standing at the dock will have a radiation suit on lmao.

I remember when new vegas came out. it was labeled as a fo3 dlc. after a few months, people noticed how great of a game this was, to a point where even the largest game reviewers couldnt doubt the game anymore, where the entire community turned against the reviewers to bash on them.
this is one of the first gane that made mainstream reviewers turn on them, and rightfully so.

You don't kill Boxcars, he is involved in 2 quests. Just don't give him any Med-X until you get the 2nd quest so he'll reveal the location you need, on your map.
I find the wheel of fortune and booted to be two extremely Irrelevant quest, but maybe you can change my mind on that.
@@Boofcans Booted is actually an important quest if your companion is Boone. As per the wiki, completing Booted gives +2 points to your relation with Boone, which you'll need to do his quest involving Bitter Springs.

My playthrough was a very pro Mr. House run, making sure to help out Caesar's Legion so that the they can keep the NCR's forces tied up stopping them from consolidating their forces and capturing the strip.

i really hate Mr. House, but he is probably the only real option the Mojave has. the NCR is on the brink of collapse and we know that it doesn't get better until it is way to late. the Legion is going to burn itself out in a matter of weeks, and that is on top of being cartoonishly evil. House is going to make hell a real place, but he is probably genuine in his goals of investing in technology that is required to keep humanity going at the end of the world.
High testosterone new vegas playthrough:
I went for the benevolent House ending myself -- helping the followers, the kings, beating the hell out of the legion everywhere I could, helping out the NCR but not committing to fighting for them -- with 100 barter you can secure what is arguably the best ending for the Mojave, a House-run Vegas protecting the outlying territories while having essentially open borders and free trade with the NCR. One thing I wish I hadn't done was wipe out the Great Khans, but I won't mourn a single powder ganger, who I wiped out to a man with an honest to God smile on my face. Also wiped out the fiends, because raiders of any stripe are bad for business. Also helped the Boomers, just because I thought they were neat.

@@BoofcansAs far as I can tell when I play, Honest Hearts is about the drives people have. Graham is driven by hate, Daniel is driven by the need to protect, Followe-Chalk is driven by wanderlust, The Sorrows follower is driven by missing a family member, and the White Legs are driven by wanting to join the Legion.
OWB is about forgetting the past and moving towards the future- letting go, similar to Dead Money, but letting go of nostalgia rather than letting go of things like Hate, or Greed- This is shown by the Think Tank. Kept in a cycle of the past, kept in a loop of testing by Mobius, who is rightfully fearful that if the Think Tank stops obsessing over the past, they’ll ruin the future. The Courier is the one who either corrals their broken minds into a non-horrible future, or ends the problem by offing the Think Tank. Either way, the past is forgotten, and the future is there.
All four DLCs share similar themeing. Honest Hearts has the Drives of Mankind, particularly Joshua’s past- and how the healthiest thing he can do is let go of his hate. This connects to Dead Money, as Dead Money has letting go, which connects to OWB of letting the *past* go, which connects to Lonesome Road- of the Past, of one’s Personal past- which loops right back to Graham.

Awesome vid, especially loved the addition of minor details like how having a low intelligence causes the Freeside vagrants mumbling's to become actual speech or how killing Vulpes before visiting Nipton causes him to be replaced with a different Frumentarii. Definitely going to revisit this game and try differing from a normal playthrough to try and find some more fun little secrets.

Describes that despite some of it's dated factors (like it's combat/graphics) it's writing and world building is at a level where you feel as though it is a modern day game that simply sacrificed some standard gameplay factors for better writing, rather than an older game with engine limitations that has amazing writing.

Boof, I have a passion for storytelling and I am the author of the En Perpetua Ziegfried Saga... and I have some minor differences in perspective from you on interpretation here.
One of the first things you are forgetting is the context of the setting of Fallout at large, which I can see why it would color things when you approach it without that context. Not just "This is the post apocalypse" but truly the actual situation you see while walking the Mojave. You can actively see how many of these groups are not just claiming to be raiders and brigands but actively are. The Vipers don't hesitate to jump you or try to let you join in any way. The only option you have with the fiends is peace only if you run drugs and every person there is literally an unstable murderous psychopath. You have all of Big Mountain which is full of Nightkin and as we have seen in Jacobstown, they are all losing their minds because of their stealthboy addictions. The pockets of peace we find on the route to vegas are not only outnumbered by the murderous thieves and bandits that surround them but actively communicate that they are dependent on the larger factions for security and income because their communities aren't large enough to survive without that larger body.
So, in defense of the Boomers, when they are talking about savages they are clearly talking about the raiders and tribes that we have repeatedly seen would absolutely massacre them to get their hands on all that heavy ordinance. They are even open to letting fresh blood into their tribe as you can see with the Romeo and Juliet type story that is entirely optional in their camp. If you even look at how they greet you, it wasn't just that you got through the barrage but that you did so as a coherent and not entirely insane person. They saw you were not some druggie bandit but a person. A person from the outside who might be able to help.
As far as House goes, he does not claim to run Freeside, but he does invite the productive (Thus the credit check) into his Strip. A place where water is freely available, they have the highest cuisine, and you can even make a larger fortune once you are there. As we see, you don't even need that many caps every time you go in. Just once. Just show your productive nature one time and you are good. And we see this further during Talent Pool where every person you hire for the Tops seems to get in without issue including the guy who is hiding in novac because he can't pay his debts.
House doesn't want the NCR gone because they are his best customers and the fact that he lets freesiders in if they have the caps is proof enough that he cares about a mobile economy and productive people because this is not a time of plenty. He seems to respect the Followers and does nothing to hinder or effect them. What's more, you can see he cares for The Strip because he has not only banned the White Gloves from Cannibalism but also actively wipes them out if you report them.
As for the Platinum Chip, it is his key to keeping this budding new society safe in a time of growing war. He knows the NCR would press into the Strip unwelcomed if the Legion wasn't here, which shows again their lack of vision for the future. What happens when your Courier isn't there to guide their moral compass? A series of bickering politicians and bureaucrats will come in and drive the prosperity that House has preserved into the dirt in their mindless greed. He has waited 200 years and you come into his house and try to keep him from his property that he paid you to bring. Sounds like how I feel if someone eats or damages my UberEats delivery.
And I'm not saying I don't fully agree with you, but I want to make clear that of the options on the table, House is the only one that has shown a set and unified vision. As he said, Look at singapore.
That said, I still find his lack of vision for the future disturbing at times and in one of my runs where I RPed my character as very much trying to bring the wastes out of the stone age and into the future, it was House's inability to consider working alongside the Brotherhood in any capacity that revealed him as very tunnel vision and lacking big picture thinking... and so he had to be removed. But your points would hold up 100% if New Vegas was set in our current era with our current cultural perspectives. But there is a lot more going on than that within the setting of fallout.
And it took me three viewings to really form this comment to respond to you. I wanted to truly consider your points before I responded. They are solid, but coming from a flawed initial assumption.
Extremely solid point about the Boomers. Sometimes I forget about how much of a problem the Fiends, Vipers, and Mutants are because the player character waltz’s in and blitz them like it’s nothing.
Also please tell me more about your book. I consider myself a poor writer, but I’m actively trying to get better at it. Would love to read it

I want to amend this without having to put in an edit tag. I'm still not "one of the greats" as I feel every artist who gives a damn about their art needs to make sure it is simply their art that shines and not themselves. That said, I know that I keep consistently getting the reactions I either expect or want from my audience whenever I show off or describe my work to people so if nothing else, I'm confident in my voice as an author. And I personally feel that's the most important step. If you ever want to write a story, just keep hammering away until you are confident that your voice as a writer is being heard. They don't need to agree, simply take away what you intended or something you don't mind them taking away from it.
I am trying to be active with my readers while I'm still small enough to do so because I truly do feel its important. That said, thank you for replying to me and I am going to do all I can to stay up on all your vids. I've watched others you've put already. Would you prefer I put my thoughts in comments on those as well? Would you enjoy them or should I just view it as algorithm help(Publicity and getting seen can be a pain in the ass so even if I'm just a grain of sand I don't mind helping.)

In regards to the Caravan tips, I have a better one: No matter what your luck is, if you go all in every time, you win every time. You can do this at any Caravan game in the Mojave, and the same strategy works on the Strip too.
This also works in most other games where you can play poker, for the record.

@@Boofcans @huhthatsweird352 Queens are very useful! They reverse the number direction of a caravan, so you know the cards ascend or descend with each one you put down? It just reverses the order for the next card in case a caravan gets stuck below 21. So say you have 7,6 on a caravan, you can't put a larger number card down till you put a queen down, allowing you to put down 7,6,Queen,8 if you don't have a 5. Or conversely 7,9,Queen,8 if you don't have a 10. They can be very useful if you don't have a needed higher/lower card in your hand to get into the 21-26 range.
Jokers remove ALL cards from everyone's caravans of the same number it's put on, 2-10, or every numbered card from everyone of same suit (Spades, clubs, hearts, diamonds) played when on an Ace. Jokers aren't very useful though because more often then not they'll just ruin both yours' and your opponent's caravans in most scenarios, just making the game go on longer, hence Aces are pretty useless as well. Better off using Kings or Jacks offensively because the effect is more targeted.
I wish Jokers and Aces did something more interesting and valuable, like Jokers switching ownership of 2 caravans to "steal" a caravan, or Aces like in Blackjack being able to be used as 11 or 1, whichever is better for the caravan.
Mathematically, the only cards worth selecting to use are 6-10, Queens, Kings, and Jacks, to make the fastest combos for 21-26 with 3 cards maximum, and attacking the opponent's caravans with Jacks and Kings. If you keep this setup you'll rarely lose unless you get super super unlucky with draws.

@@BoofcansQueens let you change the suit of cards for that caravan, and Jokers take the card they were played on away.
I don’t use Queens much, but you can use a Joker to take away one of your opponent’s cards if his caravan is in the lead. You can also use a King to double one of his cards to make the caravan over-encumbered.
After a decade of playing this game I'm JUST learning. Still haven't learned Gwent in TW3.

Morrowind needs a remaster
It's kind of sad that this game exists. It came out over a decade ago and nothing that has came out since is anywhere close to as good. Obsidian captured lightning in a bottle with New Vegas, it's the only semi-modern video game where every choice matters and you can help or hinder any faction you come across. There are no wrong answers and there is no true good or bad choice as each decision ends up screwing somebody over while helping another once you get past the early game.
Fallout 3/4 were pathetic excuses for roleplaying because most choices were arbitrary in that they were wither black or white and playing an evil character would generally ruin your game or hinder your progress substantially while making nice decisions would open up a lot of routes that just made everything easier.
I mean, if you turn in the synth in Rivet city you just get caps and a fairly useless perk, if you refuse to turn it in you get a fucking unique PLASMA RIFLE and if you nuke Megaton you lose access to the most convenient home in the game with a single loading screen, a follower, access to a few quests, and potentially a bobblehead, even the side quest for turning in scrap metal.
There are almost no reasons to even do so unless you just want to witness it once or twice for the shock value.
Even if you sacrifice your character in the end of the base game you just get plot armor that allows you to continue anyways, there is almost no reason to play evil save for a singe quest "Tranquility Lane". It's just weak game design.
As for Fallout 4, good god... I don't even know where to begin. To even enjoy the game you have to pull up the console and type player.modav carryweight 99999 or you'll have to go back and forth to pick up all the junk you need for the retarded settlement system. Then you have Preston Garvey handing out side quests every single time your characters goes near him, then there is the shitty main story where all of the factions are equally uninteresting so you just pick the side with the best rewards or just type in the codes for the specific faction rewards because fuck the Railroad, fuck the BOS, fuck the Minutemen, and fuck the Institute.
Also, the city of Boston has entire areas that are mostly unused save for collecting junk where you might run across a few rabid dogs or the rare ghoul but nothing else. Then there are the followers, there was a robot guy, the token mutant, the token dog, strong woman, female Redditor, oh... and the minuteman guy Preston Garvey who only masochists would use because of his never-ending quests.
Your house robot is the only good one to be honest because you can modify it to shoot miniguns and lasers and basically turn it into a tank.
Sorry, just really got zero enjoyment out of 3 and 4. 1 and 2 were pretty good with 1 being the easiest and shortest and 2 being punishingly difficult and taking forever. New Vegas and 2 are definitely the best though and it's not even close.

41:10, you can confront victor about being in Novac. I think that option appears after asking “What are you doing in Novac?” near the bottom of the dialogue choices. New Vegas has a habit of hiding dialogue choices through multiple other dialogue choices, and you have to ask the same question a few times to access all the options.
Yep, and that’s an inherently bad choice on the part of the devs. It’s objectively poor game design, and while I’m not the type of armchair game developer that’d pretend it’s in any way, shape or form a deal-breaker, I think it’s worth pointing out considering just how overblown fanboys’ claims of “great game design” have become.
Even though i played New Vegas for hundreds of hours at this point, every video essay about it just shows me how much stuff i've missed while playing.
