    The Ledaig 10 is natural colour, why its not advertised as such on the bottle beats me. However each batch is generally a different colour from the last, there can be some real differences from year to year too, some dark, some considerably lighter. I prefer that to the pretense that some other distilleries use with colour additives that trick us with our eyes into thinking there is no difference from batch to batch. It' a natural product with differences in the make up of the barrels used from year to year, and a more educated drinker than years past understands this, its about time that some in the industry reverted to the simple ingrediants of barley, water, yeast and the magic properties of wood without the need for added colour trickery.

    One of my favorite, go-to peated whiskies, especially with the older batches. The peat is subtle, in the background, enveloping the fruity sweetness of the malt. A solid 90 point whisky. An easy choice for an every day sipper when you're in the mood for a modicum of peat.

    Hi guys, I was lucky to visit Tobermory in 2019. Half the year they make non- peated Tobermory and the half they make peated Ledaig. Nice people who work there. Beautiful town. Cheers!

      Beautiful island, Mull! Lots to explore-great walking.
      I understand the recipe was altered when the packaging was updated. It has been very well received in the U.K. The older versions were variable.

    Remember years ago when I was trying to get into peat I got one of these. Tasted like I sprayed half a bottle of Cloraseptic in my mouth while standing in a burning Dentist Office 🤣😅😅 Took me a long time but once I could taste things around that I knew I had arrived at the Bart Zone.Cheers guy's

    Ledaig 10 is good. Ledaig 18 is outstanding.

    This is Islay peat. From Port Ellen, and you’re right that it’s great… try dropping into some blinds with its Islay brethren and it shows a nice richness. Add in the value and it kills it.

      Curious how this would do blind side by side with Ardbeg 10 ?

      @@DonnerPassWhisky they are quite different peated whiskies both good in their own ways I think. Although, we all know that Ardbeg has a lovey peateness underscored by an amazing sweetness!

      @@ScotchTestDummies yeah… yesterday ended up being the day. 😂. This is an amazing whisky. The peat although not too strong has got a bit of everything, iodine, bonfire, ash, you name it. And it’s also got a slight “funk” that’s very interesting. This was a good buy. Cheers!

    Tobermory web site stated is natural color. Not sure why they don’t put it on the bottle. Older version where more pale for sure. Cheers Dummies!

      The Ledeig they are drinking is quite a bit darker than the one I had about a year ago. It was straw colored to the point of being very light.

    • @canal-do-guga-namura
      @canal-do-guga-namura ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jackthepickledhound I read something somewhere (and it wasn't Ledaig related, just overall) about some countries stating in law that cask imparted color isn't natural color (like, it would have to come from the spirit... crazy)... Just throwing it out there hoping it's related.

    • @jackthepickledhound
      @jackthepickledhound ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@canal-do-guga-namura I think Glengoyne and Glendronach have written then kinda thing on the label.
      Seems crazy. Like Laphroaig adding color in a green bottle.
      Anyone who looks to read those words can understand what they are really saying and how it relates to what they see in the bottle. Problem is that the vast majority of whisk(e)y buyers still think that darker is better.
      I'm a sucker for Tobermory ever since my first Ledaig so my whole journey is a compromise with them not putting the truth on the label

    Good review chaps. I think this is a really solid 10 year old whisky. I find myself saying that a lot about 10 year old whisky these days. That's the best bang for buck age out there. There's also a suitable difference between the 10 and 18 (good value) to consider both. That's not always the case. WT

    The darker color might be because of some casks that were recharred.

    The Ledaig 10 is a good solid peated whisky, I would agree on the 88. As for the height difference I was expecting Scott to say 'look boss a plane!, a plane! at any moment....just sayin'.
