It's nice, It's small, It's very energy efficient, but for $1400 for the "cheapest" model It's too rich for my blood. I do know people that this would be perfect for (and I will let them know), but for me it's way too costly.
A huge chunk of that price is form factor and low volume sales. Unless someone like Dell was selling this, there is no way it can be cheap unfortunately.
Easy solution, if you already own a PC and you're able to play games in 900p with a full 60fps. Just buy a 4k Gamer Pro adapter. It's a upscaler but to me it feels like a GPU. This device gives you true 4k 60fps. 900p, 990p, and 1080p 60fps is required. Specifically only "30 and 60 fps" frames higher than that, it won't work. Easiest 4k 60fps cheap solution.
agreed. I could buy a PS5 and Xbox X. And the PS VR.
maybe try build a 4060 low profile , 1U flex psu cases and with some quicker processor like am5 X3D , possible still within the 1400 range @@nosirrahx
@@frankwong9486 it's cheaper just buy a gaming laptop. bestbuy has an Asus gen12 i7 rtx 4070 sale just under a 1k.
Might be more powerful than a Series S, but it also costs more than 5 of them. Can get much better (and upgradable) rigs for less.
dayum.😱. that much?
@@MidoriOtoko On their website, $1300 for base model he talks about, $1800 for the i9 4070 model
WOW! that price tag ..that better be a damn good PC.
Surprised you didn't do a quick teardown, that's my favourite part!
Bit too pricey for my liking. Eluktronics has the RP-15 G2 with equivalent specs for $200 less. Cool idea but if I'm gonna drop that kind of cash on a small PC, it should have hardware that exceeds what laptops have, especially since there's no display or keyboard, etc to soak up the production cost.
Yeah mini pc should be cheaper than gaming laptop with same cpu, gpu , ram and ssd capacity, cuz they lack screen, keyboard, touchpad, and battery,
Got to love that form factor, whether horizontal under the monitor or in the stand there's nothing wrong with rectangular. On the other hand, non upgradable ram? What were they thinking?
When can we see Ryzen 5 or 7 mini pcs below 200$? That's what we need, not tons of hyper priced machines.
8000g apus leaked recently so we will start to see those in sff PCs in about a year or so.
Definitely not during bidenomics
@@Kirby5588 the higher 8000G will roll out in jan - Feb 2024.
You can find ryzen 5 5000 series mini pc's for $200-$250.
@@der-Troetreally hoping the memory bandwidth is at least 7500mt/s+ and 16 CUs.
this is what valve had on mind when they launch the steam machine program, they were so much ahead of their time. in glad to be able to aprecciate this tecnology that were thought before, coming to a reality
I think the software held steam machines back and why they fizzled out. Back then there was no Proton and Linux games had to be native. Proton wouldn't be out for several years.
Steam Machines were stupid for the simple fact they are not upgradeable, plus developers didn't have a single configuration they could optimise their games for like with the Steam Deck. A lot of Steam Machines had three or four different configurations from different vendors. Lastly, PCs are not like consoles where you can sit on the same hardware configuration for 5 years. I mean you could, but even if you look at a GTX 1060 now which is 7 years old, it pretty much doesn't play any AAA new games at 1080p 60 FPS High Settings, but it did back in the day when it was brand new. If Valve just made their own Steam Machine like they did with the Steam Deck they would've had more success as devs would've had one chip/SOC to optimise for. At the time though AMD had nothing and neither did Intel that were powerful SoCs on PC, so I don't blame Valve for outsourcing to OEMs like Zotac, Alienware etc to create configurations using separate GPU and CPU, but Valve easily could have struck a deal with Intel and NVIDIA at the time considering their sway in PC Gaming with Steam.
Dude,
haven't you heard of the saying "actions speak louder than words"?
So what if Valve had this in mind way before everyone... still they didn't implement it.
What use is a thought if no there's no actions to support it.
Hence, appreciation for this type of technology should be credited to those who have actual products released in the market. Not just a thought.
@@saturn2fireDon't act like Alienware Steam Machine/ Alpha R1s don't exist. This Thunderobot looks like an rectangular upside-down version.
I love his guy, have been playing my steamdeck docked a lot and this seems to be worthy.
Looks like a steam console they made back then
Yes, the “put laptop internals in a box” move is what they did back then too
Straight up the Alienware Steam Machine
$1,300 for a laptop without a screen 😂
Was looking for this 🤣 ... Might as well build a 7-8 liter case for this price or pay someone for you
@@j0c1988Frfr
The Lenovo Legion Pro 5 with the same CPU, same GPU, same size RAM and same size SSD is $1250 at Newegg right now. The desktop should really be less than $1000.
Bro this thing is smaller than laptop and just a little bit bigger than handheld Console and more powerfull than xbox.
No touchpad, keyboard, screen, warranty
1899 for the top end? I get it's small and convenient but that's nuts.
Exactly, for a no-name brand that will send all your data to China. 😄
Insane pricing. I’d love to see what Wireshark logged. Bet this sends all types of telemetry back to China.
And still not as powerful as a regular desktop 😂
@@akarna69literally just reinstall windows on it if you're that paranoid lmao
@@govardhanposina17 you know nothing about technology or malicious software, do you?
made me remember the old steam machines back in 2014 -15🙂
Dam expensiveeee half of the price you can get a laptop or a better desktop
I cannot understand for the life of me what were they thinking with the placement of the ports. Your either stuck with an HDMI port or Ethernet port sticking out the front depending on where you consider the front to be. I like the form factor though
It would be cool if there was a small section like “can has 4k?” and to test these APU devices on standard TVs with diablo 4 since i often dock my steam deck and it would be interesting if newer apus are finally there and i can game 60@4k native with FSR or the like.
very nice content. but it think it lacks of tear down section. maybe you can create another one for the tear down.
this powerful gaming pc in such a small form factor makes me wonder (and probably the others too) how did they do it? how does it looks like on the inside?
Reminds me of my old Alienware Steam Machine form many years back, I like it.
For it's price you can get a laptop with similar specs which sounds a lot better for me. If it was at 1000 or a little lower it would have been a lot more attractive.
Agreed ain't no way I'm paying $1400 just for this.
Plus it will be from known brand, not "cat in a bag"...
right?? minisforum much more attractive.
that case is straight out of the old school SteamMachines
I was literally just thinking about the minisforum nuc with the 3070 being out of stock and you drop this lol
love your vids bro
How does this compare to the minis forum hx99g. Judging by your videos this unit had a higher time spy score but actually seems to be slower in games than the hx99g. Which is better?
I'd rather put my money towards a 3.9L build with a RTX 4060 mini for under $1000, giving me the freedom to upgrade the GPU at my convenience
That low tdp for the rtx 4060 really holds it back. Standard tdp for the rtx 4060 mobile is 115 watts. Probably could play some AAA games in 4k if it wasn't power limited.
That's the issue with these small systems. Ppl want credit card sized PCs like a raspberry pi to run 4k ray tracing at 60fps.. the technology isn't quite there yet PSUs and GPUs can only get so small
90W is where the 4060M maxes out so is wasted power after that. Shouldn't be too far off really.
Not exactly. All GPUs ship with an unnecessarily high TDP from the factory which lands them on the far side of the efficiency curve. Try limiting power consumption of desktop GPUs by 50% and you'll only lose ~20% performance in a lot of cases. I'd say that's an excellent tradeoff, especially for a mini PC such as this.
not really, 4060 is a mid tier 1440 card
thats actually not the case. for the 4060 and 4070, there performance plateaus around 90 watts and after that, there is only a 1-3% increase in performance.
The Type a ports uses black tabs, which means they are USB 2 speed. Plus, the screen printed icons don't show they are anything more than USB 2 ports.
The form factor us AMAZING!!! Ive been wanting a gaming PC that is about a size of a console. They are HARD to find!
Can't wait for a VR box.
Ive bought two two Windows 11 Pro CD Keys. Simple quick and easy! Love it!
Who cares
That's basically a laptop motherboard inside that's the reason for split ports
Perfect Steam machine for the couch
hey there, i need your opinion on a long term question which is beter for gaming, UM780 XTX or Minisforum HX99G? cant decide wich to buy and have just to tomorow :D
we really need an amd version of this with the 7900m
Looks like a long version of the Alienware Alpha series
Are you able to do a review of the best budget mini pcs ?
If someone makes one of these that is as quiet as a Mac Studio - that I can game on - I will buy it in a heart beat. Love the small size and if its near silent it will be a must buy. How as the noise on this thing?
the fact its got input output ports on the sides and not the back is a deal breaker.
The English is Thunder Robot, but the characters on the box (雷神), I believe mean "thunder god".
Makes more sense to buy. A laptop thats the same price if not cheaper with same specs and will come with a screen and keyboard
What Steam features would be missing if you were to install something like Chimera OS on this?
this is like 340 dollars more than i paid for my gaming laptop, but it is a beast
Why did you cut out the robot intro? Always one of my fav parts of your shows 😢
We need a mini pc with at least 16GB of VRAM or more!
my gaming desktop has 12gb of vram on a 3060 and I have yet to run into any performance issues. We do not need a mini pc with 16gb of VRAM LOL
@@SunnyDeLite at this price point we do this is a 2000 dollar machine at the highest spec. You yourself are confirming that 12GB is the minimum of vram you would recommend
LOL where did I say I would recommend at least that? Not for a mini pc lmao. That is stuff for full size gaming computers. @@PCGUYSMiami
you wouldn't get 16gb vram for a computer that was built to be balanced for $2000 in a full size so why do you think that would be possible for a mini at that budget?@@PCGUYSMiami
Build one,if anyone can,it's u,n I know it'd be wild
Another amazing video, Prime 👍
How's the fan sound? I wonder about potential heat from 13th gen Intel in SFF 🔥.
Thank you for measuring the power consumption.
Kindest regards, friends and neighbours.
For the price, I'd be more interested in a gaming laptop personally. Or a legion go hooked up with a dock and use the extra saved money for more games. It just misses the mark for being a console replacement in my eyes due to that price and how easy you can just hook a laptop or handheld up to a dock at your TV to do the same thing.
That's actually pretty cool! Nice video, thanks. 🙂
Seems really odd that power port and Ethernet port are on opposite ends of the machine?
Hello guys.. would you recommend the ryzen 5 pro 2400ge over 2400g.. I will be using it for photo and video editing and lite gaming without external graphics card.. hope the fps difference in gaming isnt that much?
I imagine this is the ultimate emulator machine
I thought exactly the same, but then I checked the price link... it's pretty expensive for me (just IMHO).
So expensive... to get a laptop without a screen and battery. I'll stick to open box or on sale laptops.
Nice thing 👌
But just for fans of mini format)
In this cost level can buy good laptop...
go with this or the minisforum HX99G?
This pc looks like the nintendo wii and the steam deck had a baby.
This reminds me of the older Steam Boxes ... ( was that the name? )
2,000 for a mini pc is insane
Love the size. Could see it being next to a PS5 in the livingroom
what about the size of the power brick? not so "mini" anymore I would say..
Nice 😀
I wonder what other console-size gaming PCs are theere
Looks like a Alienware alpha from way back in the 2010s
What about emulation , ps3, switch wii U it works all of them in 4K with 60fps?
I wanna see emulation run at max capacity
Can i suggest you add alan wake 2 to the game testing on those mini pcs
How much is the average electricity bill per month in the US?? In city areas.
price on this is like 2x of what it should be
For machines like this, they need to either be faster (i.e. higher TDP , power draw, and clock speeds) or cheaper than laptops. Otherwise, get a gaming laptop. This is a laptop without a screen. There has to be a reason to buy it.
There are plenty of reasons to buy this
$1900 for the model w/ a 4070….GTFOH. MiniPCs will never go mainstream if they don’t get the prices under control.
Is this better than Minisforum HX99G?
Could be a cool looking living room steam machine....but the ethernet on the front?....what were they thinking? If you want to run a wire you have to bend it around back. That would be a deal breaker for me.
I’ve got laptop from this company. It’s Chinese kinda Alienware. They making nice quality pc or laptops and many other accessories for reasonable price even cheaper than any other companies. Don’t buy overpriced Alienware I’m used mine for more than one year now and I absolutely recommend u to think about their product.
Wait a moment… this is £1100? Why on earth wouldn’t I get a ps5 or Xbox x for well under half the price and a whole lot better performing?
for people who want soemthing smaller then consoles and a pc. but then for that price you might as well get a 4060 laptop. i like mini pc but the mini tax is too much to consider for what you get. reason why i'll stick with gaming laptops and my consoles for my gaming needs.
Finally, a mini PC with some actual performance, Im tired of all of these other mini PCs with Ryzen APUs, they can game but not remotely well enough to have a pleasant, quality experience. The price is not very optimal, because you can get fully powered RTX 4060 laptops with i7-13700H for that price which would be significantly more optimal choice but its definitely better than any other mini PC.
Also you forgot or neglected the Frame Generation which works perfectly in Cyberpunk 2077
Frame generstion is a gimmick. Maybe it will be useful in the 50xx cards, but I personally will never use it since it looks so awful and never need more than 90 FPS.
Does it come with windows pre installed?
When will these get affordable?
Design and logo are remakably similar to the Alienware steam machine.
this minform vs mini pc ryzen 5 7600 and 32gb ram and rtx 4060 LP
looks like the original alienware steam machine launch 9 years ago.
The 4060 mobile is in the neighborhood of a 5700. That puts it real close to a PS5, without the custom hardware.
I can’t wait to see Strix Point. The 16CU model should beat the series S in a mini PC/handheld!
Thing is you can now get a used ps5 close to $300… this thing is over 2,000 with taxes and shipping.
@@AverageUser-why are you comparing consoles to pc? You think your console can do editing,3d modelling etc ?
Would this work for vr on medium settings
So that's what happened to all those Steam Machines.
rj45 on the front makes no sense to me, weird port locations
Nice
Not bad, still perfer hx99g though!
Strix Halo when?
*Mmmm, but will it play DIGITAL COMBAT SIMULATOR?*
Really, I'd rather get a GPD G1 external video card for my UM790 Pro with faster CPU and upgradable RAM up to 64GB 5600mhz DDR5 (32 + 32 sticks), 2 SSD Nvme slots, a lot of ports and really small size.
Does gpd g1 small just like asus xg mobile ?,
Beautiful Machine. Puts Alienware to shame. Shameful Alienware. I was expecting such high temperatures but it was breezy inside that box. Looks stealthy and cool. This is awesome to put in your RV
I would rather buy gaming laptop over this at that scenario, honestly
0:12. YO... Me likey !!!!
1:15. Lol I don't know why but I felt like telling you. I always say " Noo.! You're a CD Key.!" Lol.
2:30. Yeah it looks slick to.!!
3:00. 😆
9:55. Oh yeah my favorite part.!
10:27. 🤔 Strange.! Technically frame times are good. Especially for big turns. Like it didn't even care. The weird part is while they're not that far apart. They're still kind of all over the place.
I thought maybe it was TH-cam. But stats for nerds says I have 4 drops frames. So I don't think it was TH-cam.
Maybe it's the settings.?
Still looks pretty good though. Maybe you want to test it with some more games.
See how it stacks up against crisis. That would be helpful for me. And I mean what a benchmark right.
"But can it run crisis.!"
Awesome video man.! 👍👍
90% of us here aren’t willing to shell out $1399 sadly.
I litteraly read $1000 0ff, but its $100 off with his promo code.
It would of been so amazingly priced at $400 😢😅
1400$ HELL NO
Rtx 4070 laptop is chapter than that and it had a screen
very expensive you buy 5 xbox series s
Wow 😲
The ethernet port and power button needs to switch sides with each other.
You know that exact chip comes in laptops that are smaller the that so I don't think the size is a big deal
Why "mega transfers" instead of MHz?
$1400 USD sheesh
Isn’t junt better to buy an xbox s?
Is this PC smaller than the Xbox Series S? I'm a few minutes into this video and I feel like you've not mentioned the size of this device in comparison to an Xbox Series S.
when it will be released in Philippines
