One thing that surprised me was that my PS5 has free online weekends randomly, had like 4 of them in the handful of months I owned one, so that was at least something to let me enjoy the multiplayer parts of my games like AC6 or GT7 or DRG. What I hate the most is that they ask us to pay for online with side benefits we may not even want rather than just letting us pay a little for MP, I just want online functionality and in the end it irks me they (and nintendo) followed xbox's payed online formula when it was free before.

While the low maintenance and one push play is true more ppl can’t afford a pc,monitor, desk and headset along with the subscriptions to pay to play online w friends. Theres one thing that I still think is a huge benefit when it comes to consoles.. well two actually. One being the lack of multiple launchers for maybe one or two games that I like, and two the avoidance of sensitive data being harvested which your PC is bound to house more private data than your console. Many games TOS/EULAs say they will monitor you before and after you play their game, out-of-game-monitoring is sketchy AF and needs to be abolished but no one seems to care which is baffling, at least on console they will get very little data.
I know right. You can do the rechargeable packs, the rechargeable batteries, or just regular. I’ve used the same $20 rechargeable batteries for like 8 years and it’s a quick 15 second swap if I’m playing. If people don’t like that, that’s fine, but I think it’s the best and easiest route to go. Having to plug in my PS controller is really annoying.
@@georgealex19Hardly. Xbox even noted that there were a lot of hard core Xbox fans that wanted rechargeable controllers. That's why they gave people the option of the charge and play kit when the Series consoles launcho.
I got my first Xbox, the One S as a gift in January 2019 and been using Xbox as my primary since. Game Pass is a neat bonus, but not the reason I stuck with it. The consoles are quick, quiet and the ability to play your stuff everywhere is amazing. The free automatic cloud save between everything is incredible. And with xCloud and Remote Play I play anywhere I go without any issues. My internet connection is very stable which allows Remote Play to work just fine.
Honestly I was (and still to a point) am against all digital since at any time that data can be removed and you no longer have access to it, however, with 90% of the data needed to run physical media is digital it really doesn't matter if you have the physical media or not. It’s always surprised me that Microsoft never did a PC/Xbox combination that was an basic PC that could switch between being a PC and an Xbox. After all Amstrad (Alan Sugar) did it back in the 90 with the PC Megadrive combo so I am sure it would be so easy for Microsoft to do something better in the 2020’s
aa batteries are a plus thanks to the prevalence of rechargable ones available. I'll take that anyday vs having to take my controller apart to replace a dying battery pack.
Even rechargeables are a pain though, I'd rather deal with replacing the internal battery maybe once in the controller's lifetime if I'm unlucky than constantly be switching out batteries.

And if you're saying that every console should do it, now someone with 3 controllers each for two consoles should keep track of 24 batteries?
As a Xbox Series X and S owner, I am happy with my systems. @Zdude3313Z Not the same thing. Why would I bring my computer down the stairs or get a long as cable just to play on TV? Makes no sense when consoles are plug and play.
@akshataaryangamelibrary3645 And getting input lag, etc. My internet is already bad and not made to use a pc too. Already tried to bring the pc downstairs. Big delay and choppy gameplay. It's cheaper and better to just use a console instead of buying expensive tvs just for that cause
I bought a Series S back in early 2022 as I still couldn’t get a Series X where I lived. It may be the weakest of its generation, but it’s still a jump from my original Xbox One. For the games I play, it gets the job done+game pass is also good, but only if you use it regularly. I do plan on making the switch to pc for Minecraft Java, but I will still be using my Xbox for games that I prefer on controller, or games I’ve previously bought like all the assassin creed games.
The PS5 controller is the first PlayStation control I've ever considered better than an Xbox controller. It's the best feature of the PS5 in my opinion.
The 8th gen had the most comfortable ones, Dualshock 4, Xbox One Elite and Wii U Pro pad, but that Dualsense is fine as heck. Only issue with it is the stick drift, SEGA used Hall Effect sticks since they started using sticks on Saturn, why has no one else done it yet almost 30 years later? It's the one thing that stops me enjoying the Dualsense to the fullest, knowing that too much could make the sticks unusable at any time.
Getting rid of physical disk drive is A HUGE PAIN.......... Especially for us who lives in the second world countries.. bcoz believe it or NOT.. internet highspeed data transfer and some really HUGE hundreds of GIGABYTES data of the game would prolly cost more than a physical disk itself..
Backwards compatibility with many of my Xbox 360 games and some OG Xbox games both physical and digital was a big draw for me for getting the Xbox series X. The fact that they look and play better on Series X is a great bonus. I also appreciate that I can use my controller from my Xbox One S as a secondary controller on my Xbox Series X for all games (unlike PS5).
When it comes to the controllers: For me PS4 controller had an awful battery lifespan (PS3 was better), but it was alright in terms of use comfort. I loved the XOne controller, but the seemingly small changes they made to the XSeries controllers were huge in terms of feel. I think that currently the XSeries controller is the best there is for me and a big improvement over XOne.
I agree, the xseries controller feels better in my hands over the xbox one. Ive been using the xseries controller on my pc for the past few years and it has held up very well
i dont think xbox is going away but I think they are preparing to move away from the idea of console first. meaning its going to be games everywhere first and consoles are going to be secondary. I think xbox sees sony not as a rival but a place where a lot of money can be made and a place where they are missing opportunity because xbox releases on pc day and date. sony does not they make pc gamers wait for the pc port and make them wait a long while. I think xbox is moving away from xbox as a hub for games and want to hit every angle they can and i think the fact sea of thieves and hi fi rush did well on PS is going to make them consider is it worth continuing the way we were doing because if they dont have to focus on their console it will be easier to get releases out.
As a PC Gamer who hasn't has disk drive in like 15 years. All digital means nothing to me. I've moved on from that a long time ago. If game preservation comes up I get a non DRM version and keep it on a external hard drive so I will always have it. Like music.

That's a good window to see if a game works and you like it. I mean if you want to pirate anyway then sure. You're allowed to do that I guess. For my couch gaming with sometimes limited time to play the Xbox is awesome. Gamepass is amazing and the Xbox ability to resume games so fast makes it an amazing product. Even though it's not a PC.
I have no problem with a digital only console as long as it is made with the specs it requires. The reason game streaming is pretty bad right now is because consoles don't necessarily have the greatest Wi-Fi cards. And if you're introducing latency to competitive games you might as well not play them; which is a huge problem because competitive games keep a consistent player base much more than solo games
@nicholas.alan85 ??? One X is more powerful than Series S and has a drive. Also, my point was I bought a system and it broke. The 360 broke like 3 times on me. Xbox does not have a good history of long lasting systems. I have 2 ps4s and both are still running. One is a reg ps4 and one is a ps4 Pro.
@@unstopology as I said.. I loved my One X. But it is NOT more powerful than the series S . What because it can do 4k? The old Jaguar cores in the One X were OBSOLETE IN 2013! It's now just again....... Obsolete
@nicholas.alan85 You're stretching the definition of obsolete. It can run most games 4k and has a drive. Series S, obviously, plays current gen games. One X is not useless, just abandoned. I wouldn't consider a 1080p machine even current gen.
For Sony guys, there's really no reason to switch, but if you still have a big library of old backwards compatible Xbox games and you already own a fair number of Microsoft store games for your PC, the Series X is a pretty compelling option and why I got one. I went into it with the understanding that it's exclusive library was going to be underwhelming, but that's true of this gen as a whole even if it's worse on Xbox.
All this conversation around physic disc is by people who want to potray themselves as some kind of OG or purist of the gaming world. They claim to know so much about gaming and its experince but can't understand that even if there is disc drive it needs to be connected to the internet to install and play that game. And another argument they push forward is that 'what if the company decide to close down the server, then you will loose all your digital games'. Well it can be done in case of physical drives also, as they are now just installation disc with a tiny part of the game present there, that also for installation.
This is true, but on average physical games tend to become cheaper. Example I saw Elden ring for xbox physical around 40 dollars, digital is still 60 dollars.
External drive would be a good thing since they always break and you have to take them apart to fix them. The worst thing about the Xbox X/S is the hard drive is not replaceable lose your hard drive then you’ve got a brick. Hopefully they will find a way to fix this.
I love my Xbox controller type which is why I switched from PS2 to the OG Xbox. Still love my Xbox Series X today and sometimes play my PS5 once a week or so.
Double A batteries is still superior honestly. Too many people threw away the DualShock controllers for the battery dying creating a lot of e-waste, I repaired many ps4 controllers people didn’t want cause the battery went bad. So I don’t see the double a as a downside for the controller it’s much easier to replace

'Xbox series S would hold the generation back, buckle under the pressure of the latest and greatest games'. Yeah people still say that, even game devs. The Digital Foundry dives on multiplat games do not paint the Series S in a good light at all. But I mean, yeah, it does run the games, and if that's all you need and don't care about graphics, resolution or fps too much, then it's a good buy.
Hell yeah it is. If you don’t have it, get it. You can play DVDs, Blu-ray’s, CDs, as well as most importantly physical games while also having the option of digital. The game selection is damn good. If you’re going to get a series S or X, get a charging station for the controllers.
Microsoft really did start strong with their hardware and the OG Xbox, and went off a cliff pretty quick. The 360 was great, but had a ton of issues that make it hard to enjoy today. Then the Xbox One and the Series X/S just tanked any hope of me giving a crap about them ever again.
I have an xbox because of ease of use, form factor (series S), the assurance that the game I play will run and the price. I just never felt like investing so much money to get a gaming pc and having to fiddle with settings and components to hope my games will run and also I needed the mental division of my pc for worning and console for gaming, especially since I like to game on a TV
PS5 and Series X owner here! I’m currently building a 4k gaming pc, with Xbox first party exclusives dropping on PC with gamepass ultimate and the plethora of other games through steam, I know this will make my Xbox obsolete. Right now as it stands if you want to play everything just get a PS,PC and a switch. Xbox is making it hard to justify owning series x anymore.

Lifelong PlayStation gamer here. After the PlayStation 5 Pro reveal at $700 without a disc drive or even a stand… I just decided to upgrade my Xbox series S to an X instead of buying the PS5 Pro. Which I was really excited for… PlayStation has completely disregarded its base.
i got my series S last year, but at some point i will get the series X as i already have a ps5 which i got later than the series S, so i will maybe replace my S or just get an X anyways. got a new tv few months ago thats 120/144hz 4k for the ps5, so makes sense to get the 4k xbox too. i have a somewhat gaming pc, i also build them, but i dont pc game much these days. had a gaming laptop till a few months ago too. pc uses will always be there, so to me its worth to still buy an xbox in 2024. hell some people buy retro still. not to mention by now xbox consoles are cheaper mainly on the used market than they used to be.
I think that people don't get it, if you want to play games on gamepass but you don't want to deal with the pc experience (drivers , putting together the machine etc) Xbox is just for you, also Xbox is officially compatible with steam via cloud, that is why Microsoft announced the collaboration with GeForce now, and in a side note i will like to add that i played monster hunter rise steam version on my Xbox for a few months via GeForce now, so yeah Xbox is the pc without the pc experience
I do not care if we lose the disc drive. I havnt bought a disc in 6 years and if buying just digital brings down the cost of gaming thats a win for everyone. Also love the shirt bro
cap. Ive had a ps4 slim and have never been more grateful for never getting an xbox. The sheer number of quality games on ps, makes xbox worthless (plus i dont want to pay for a subscription). God of War, Horizon zero dawn, ghost of tsushima, all three spiderman games, GOW ragnarok, The Last of Us 1 and 2.
As long as Xbox continues with the same quality in the construction materials of its products, I will continue with the brand. Its controls are almost indestructible.
The thing about Xbox is that compared to playstation, they don't have much exclusives other than forza, halo, and a few other games while playstation has a bunch of exclusives that people love. But gamepass is a pretty good deal :>
I think Xbox is more about online, servicev, and variation while playstation is all about exclusive games, it actually would make more sense to buy a Xbox and PC because playstation exclusive games always come to Pc, while Xbox has better hardware I would prefer to play newer games on Xbox because of maybe better optimation and gamepass
Meh. I get the nostalgia but digital is soooo convenient. Having the game installed and ready to go right down to the minute on launch day without ever leaving your house… and even just being able to switch between games without having to get up and put a new disc in. I haven’t bought a physical game for years.
2023, and the beginning of 2024 made me switch to PC. PS5 is having a dry period. Sony said their next big game won’t even come out until after April 2025.
If you are a casual game and you're not bothered about the price of the games or the membership knock yourself out for being rip off. .paying a little bit more and get a PlayStation membership lower than XboX you got more choices for membership with PlayStation and when looking for a game in the PlayStation store you can set the search for games in your price range
As much as I love my PS5 and Gaming PC I still couldn't resist an Xbox Series S. There aren't a ton of games that I love on Xbox but there are a few and there have actually been a lot of sales on Series S and it has been available for almost down to $200. I know Target and Costco have had them cheap. Target has had them for $220 on two occasions. I don't think we will see consoles that cheap in the future. Plus if you like the controller it really in those sales deals makes the console only $160 or less. Can't argue with that. The size of the console will also make it more relevenant to me to keep it in my setup in the future.
Personally I don't see the point in upgrading my current Xbox one S. Its powerful with new games still coming out on it which I personally don't care about. Older games are still fun to play even offline, they are getting cheap than they were brand new at launch years ago and they still look pretty good. Getting rid of the optical drive is a bad move since online games are way more expensive than physical games. I wont be upgrading any time soon. Did I mention that it also has a built in 4K blu ray drive which costs as much as a brand new player without the console part which makes the Xbox one S even more worth it.
Not really, considering how often you have to upgrade a PC, hell a decent graphic card alone nowadays costs more than the consoles and you’ll have to upgrade it in 3 years max if you want to be able to play all the latest games… just a pain in the ass and not worth it imo.
@@juancarlosalonso5664 For a PC that performs about twice as good as a console, with 3x the amount of storage its around $950-$1,100. Difference is 5 years later for the console you have dumped an extra $500 into it, in just network fee's. Not to mention the extra cost of games purchased on the console stores. Games on console are usually about 20% to $20 more, + you got a $120 a year network cost associated with being able to play online games. I get it you can pay for a whole year and its cheaper, but majority pay by month. If Playstation and Xbox would separate the bundling of games, etc from the network fee I think it would really be much better. Like make the network fee be only $12 a year or something, just enough money to keep bots away from abusing it.

The xbox series is the one console I wanted since release but never made the effort to buy, and I sort of regret it, truth be told. I never paid attention to the idea of a console war, and i bought every console for exclusives at the time. I live in Australia, and all the game stores are getting rid of xbox Physical Media as opposed to playstation and Switch.
Controllers with replaceable batteries is the best thing you can do. I don't know why people are so against it
Because they’re ps fanboys. That’s it

Gamepass is amazing and the Xbox ability to resume games so fast makes it an amazing product. Even though it's not a PC.
The first thing i thought....why can't they just sell an external drive for disc games

I loved mine as well... But when you can get a series S for UNDER 299 now... It's kinda obsolete.
The fight to keep physical games is kind of funny when they're basically just installation discs these days
people donr realise it,
for real tho lmao. There's no way in hell they're shoehorning CoD on a 25gb blu-ray.
More like pre-installation discs. I can't remember when last I bought a game on media which didn't need an immediate patch.
0:34 this would have been a 🔥 statement if the X would have came out with fantastic games/exclusive’s back in 2020 up until this point.
xbox one vcr where
As long as Xbox continues with the same quality in the construction materials of its products, I will continue with the brand. Its controls are almost indestructible.
I got a series s from a friend with 2 controllers for like $150 bucks basically new, ngl I’ve barely used it 😭
I would say if you can't afford a ps5, the Xbox isn't a bad option. Also gamepass is great value, the backward compatibility is great too
but they cost the same...
@@bubi3875Series X goes on sale as low as $350 around holidays
@@P_D-px6iv I am from europe, we don’t have deals that good here
The thing about Xbox is that compared to playstation, they don't have much exclusives other than forza, halo, and a few other games while playstation has a bunch of exclusives that people love. But gamepass is a pretty good deal :>
Bros stuck in 2018☠️ check PlayStations and Xboxs release schedule this year
from what i see theres a lot of highly rated games thats releasing on PS this year that xbox doesnt have. @@metabricks

@@94Jyraya he also said Helldivers and ff7 rebirth
Don‘t let physical die. Just this feeling of driving home and looking at your game, getting hyped before you play it is simply pure gold.
Meh. I get the nostalgia but digital is soooo convenient. Having the game installed and ready to go right down to the minute on launch day without ever leaving your house… and even just being able to switch between games without having to get up and put a new disc in. I haven’t bought a physical game for years.
2020 made me give up on consoles. Im a steam gamer now
2023, and the beginning of 2024 made me switch to PC. PS5 is having a dry period. Sony said their next big game won’t even come out until after April 2025.
Yes, even back in the 2002
If you are a casual game and you're not bothered about the price of the games or the membership knock yourself out for being rip off.
.paying a little bit more and get a PlayStation membership lower than XboX you got more choices for membership with PlayStation and when looking for a game in the PlayStation store you can set the search for games in your price range
I love my Series X, a more powerful option when my Steam Deck struggles. I probably wont go PC for long term just because my work goes on Mac.
My opinion: the most affordable way to play games EVER with the combo Xbox series S and Game Pass Ultimate. Pretty clear in my opinion ❤
But they're loosing money with it and closing down studios.
Honestly the upfront cost savings going with a console vs a PC is washed out after a year of online service and the higher cost of games.
Nvidia and AMD support their GPU's with around 6-8 years of updates. Games released today you might play 4k60, but same as a console 5 years later with no upgrades it might be 4k30 on games released then, saying you'd "Have" to upgrade isn't right.
Games gets regular discounts on all platforms, thats a dumb argument, but yes paid online in stupid.
I sold my Series X last holiday. I kept it only for Starfield, and it was disastrous.
What makes you think it was disastrous? I love Starfield.
I appreciate on the new Xbox console leak, they removed the disk drive, but kept the same $500 price. Same price, less features!
Hello. I have an Xbox series S and I love my Xbox very much. I want to ask you a question. There will be a new console announcement in the summer, so will Gamepass and Microsoft store support for Series S continue? I would be very happy if you answer please. .
if you are worried about then you can rest easy because you still have a good number of years of support.
In 2024, it seems like the year to buy one just to collect the remaining physical games before they disappear off the face of this planet.
