    For a 1080p monitor, this console is just perfect. I've had mine for a year and thoroughly enjoyed it. The only thing that sucks is the limited storage space and overpriced external hard drives for this thing. They should really work toward getting more manufacturers involved to make storage solutions for this thing at better prices.

    As someone who doesn't particularly care about hardware specs, I quite like my Xbox Series S, and bristle when others deride it. It plays video games, and loads them faster than the Xbox One S did. That's really all I need. Video game graphics have been SPECTACULAR since the Xbox 360, and 1080p is more than good enough for me. Keep in mind that I grew up with the Atari 2600 and NES... in comparison to those, the budget priced Xbox Series S is a juggernaut.

    • @gamble777888
      @gamble777888 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      There's really not a meaningful difference in 95% of games between the S and PS5/Series X. For starters you really need like a crazy setup with expensive big screen OLEDs with 2.1 HDMI to actually even see those differences in any meaningful way.

    • @mshmsh9313
      @mshmsh9313 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@gamble777888 I do not agree with you. The differences are real, most games are across generations. The Series S may be better than the regular PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, but it is weaker than the Xbox One x It does not support ray tracing at all, and in the end it will run heavy games on 900p or 720p with thirty frames. Competitive gaming is not a standard. It is a bad deal. Frankly, they not only took half of the storage, but they took most of the features of the new generation.

      @@gamble777888 There are quality performance tests on TH-cam where you can see what real quality comes out of the consoles Assassin's Creed Valhalla, for example, did not support 60 frames on the Series S until after an update that clearly reduced the quality. This is a past generation game, and for many games, 30 frames have become the standard again Consoles are supposed to last for 7 to 9 years. Do you think the Series S will be acceptable? When more modern games are released, we will see pixels start to appear.

    I have a Series X in my game room upstairs and picked up a Series S for the downstairs TV so I could play closer to the family and pups when we all have down time. I probably spend more time on the S than X because of that, and while I can see the differences in power, for $299 it's such a good deal for casual gaming. I think the people that get overly dramatic about it being underpowered aren't quite in touch with what most casual gamers (or those with family lives) are looking for.

    • @Narkissos_1
      @Narkissos_1 ปีที่แล้ว

      Since u have both series s and x , do u really see any difference? I recently upgraded m bedroom tv in to 50 inch 4k qled, and now I am thinking about getting the x. • @DaBigCheeso
      @DaBigCheeso ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@Narkissos_1 I can see a difference, but honestly if you'd rather save the money and graphics performance is all you're worried about, you'd be fine with the Series S. My only big complaint is the smaller storage space and every frickin game being at or over 100GB lately. That being said, if you've got a good Internet connection and Game Pass, just download whatever you're playing at the moment and stream any games you're just casually hopping in to. You can always buy storage later but you may be close to the current Series X sales price once you add in that expensive storage.

      I have a series s on m bedroom already and it looks fine tbh , after all I pull the trigger and bought the x for the bigger storage since the forza 5 premium version is priced very well this Xmas for 449 with taxes. I will gift m series s to m cousins and I will try to to add them to m family sharing so they will have game pass ultimate for life. It will be their first console since they are 4 and 6. So from now on I will just gift em a digital code for a fifa or something xd. @@DaBigCheeso

      @@DaBigCheesototally agree with this, main question is how much games you would play at the sane time. If you are the only one playing you probably can handle this, if you are not the only one playing go with the x, just for the space, also if you would use the console for bluray or if you use big 4k TVs. If you do not spend too much time playing and you have a good internet connection, go with the SS

      @@wyo_garage20 I actually tend to disagree…that $50 is actually a lot (especially if you aren’t coming from xbox). If you need to buy games and xbox live it all adds up and us dads don’t have as much time or resources to gather all that extra money just for a hobby. Odds are if you are a new dad you will only be playing 1-3 games at a time anyway and trust me, in today’s economy, every dollar counts. I do think they need to make a cheaper option for extending the storage on these though.

      50bucks for you maybe in my country with import taxes being sky high a newly released Xbox will certainly demolish the bank.
      The white 512gigs xbox is older and being sold on 2nd hand marketplaces for cheap.
      It still has it's market and after all the updates you have 360+gigs left which is enough for me as I don't need more than 2-3games at a time.
      Then again I'm playing mainly last gen games I missed out on.

    Xbox Series S with Gamepass got me back into gaming after a long break too. I got it shortly after the latest console generation launched, and even though I have a PS5 now, I probably find myself playing my Series S the most still because the PS5 is huge and has to live in my office. I love the form factor, the fact I can play Xbox games from all generations, and the way it fits so nicely in my home entertainment system. My girlfriend and I have found so many couch co-op and multiplayer games to enjoy together too that’s honestly elevated it to another level for me! It Takes Two is a game we’ve played through twice beginning to end. And Diablo 3, Overcooked and Lego Star Wars have all been awesome as well. And when she’s in bed or out somewhere, I just fire up Halo at the drop of a hat with quick resume, and I feel like I did playing Halo 3 as a kid all over again! Honestly, can’t recommend this system enough

    I have a Gaming PC with a Ryzen 5 5500 and RTX 2060 super, not a high-end rig but certainly no slouch either. However, I recently got a series S and I play most of the time on it now. I work a full-time IT job and got married earlier this year and gaming was pretty much nonexistent. Not even so much for lack of time but with working at a desk all day and constantly troubleshooting tech it isn't something I enjoy doing in my free time anymore and gaming on PC requires more effort than I am willing to put in after all my responsibilities are taken care of. But I just hold the little button in the middle of my controller and click on the game I want and I'm playing. Games load fast and I can play a few matches while I am waiting for the laundry to need rotated or dinner to be done in the oven. It seriously is a quality, cheap, and simple gaming box. Not hoping to have kids any time soon but when I do, I can't imagine playing on anything else.

Up until then I could reccomend the XSS with my eyes closed to anyone looking into building a digital library spanning over 20 years of games with good upscaling (if you use a 1080p display), framerates and wide compatibility with peripherals/IO. Plus, if you're the tinkerer type, you can extensively mod skyrim, fallout 4 and soon starfield, plus install homebrews. Its a very compelling device.

    It's nice but for the full backwards compatibility experience, stick with series x. Many bc games on series s are 900p and don't run to great like sekiro. It can't hit 60fps like it can on series x. The bc not being on par with series x was really the thing that hindered the console for me.

    Really feel you man. I have a 4 1/2 years old son and next to the job and household little time to game. Also, I‘d rather spent the 1500-2000€ for a good PC on 1-3 nice family vacations and thus memories with my wife and kid. I sold my PC while writing my thesis and vowed to bury gaming for some years, which I did.
    Yet with the Series S, entry back into gaming was never so easy and cheap. For 280€ you gain access to a console that can run every triple A title with good Performance and looks. Next to the Game Pass, you have a good stream of fresh new Games. It is also so super fast to start up and begin a game, so you can easily sneak in 30min of gametime.
    The Series S + Game Pass is the best value/money deal I ever did in my well over 20 years as a gamer.

    Series S is a great little console. Quiet, small footprint (get a little 3d printed stand to stabilize it) and does the job at 1080p and 1440p. Makes a nice little hand warmer too, ha. Have one on my 1440p monitor along with my gaming PC and Switch dock, with a PS5 and Series X on my main TV, and the Series S still gets a considerable amount of play time, more than my Series X (by me at least, my kids use the Series X and it is the blu ray player for the main tv). As a kid or college student, I would have loved to have a Series S and Gamepass. And yes, quick resume is nice for quick 10-20 min play sessions here and there, which is why I probably use the Series S on my monitor more since sitting down to play my PS5 or Series X on my main TV is something I usually reserve to do on nights when my kids are in bed and wife isn't using the main tv, and I tend to lean towards going through my PS5 backlog for those sessions.

I could be in the living room, then if In-laws come over, or wife wants to watch a K Drama, I could move to the office, bedroom, or snap on my Backbone One to my phone to remote play flawlessly because of the Xbox app setup and Series S' smooth networking. @@ct2651 Hmm.. depends on how you look at it. If you are looking at purely dollar per performance, perhaps. But reality is 90% of games don't really use the X/PS5 anywhere near their limit. The ones that do are just usually incredibly unoptimized (starfield, Forespoken). You can get a comparable PC machine for 499 USD to a Series X. You absolutely cannot do the same for a Series S at 200-300 USD. So depending on the use case the S can offer much better value. If you absolutely only interested in playing the latest releases at their best settings than obviously the S is not the choice. If you have a big digital library of Xbox One/360 games and you occasionally play some of the new games the S is a fantastic option and will give you a much similar experience at almost half the cost.

I am not 1 for pausing a screen to check if there 100 tress on screen of 75, or additional bushes in the corner. 1080p 60fps is a great sweet spot for and game pass give me enough to explore other titles and keeps kids busy going through back catalogue of xbox 1 and new games

      So, here's how markets work, right. If there's a demographic, there will be a market for it. If physical games are going the way of the dinosaur, then why did Sony bother to make a detachable disc drive when they could have easily not done so? Why did Microsoft announce plans for a detachable disc drive for Xbox systems last month? This is as dumb as saying "flip phones won't be around anymore, so smart phones are the way to go" 10 years ago. Guess what stayed on the shelves and is still on the shelves? Those same shitty flip phones. Physical games will be around for a very long time. I may have the Series S, but that had literally nothing to do with physical games and everything to do with saving 200 bucks.

      @@xamislimelight8965 It won't happen in 2 years but eventually they will get rid of physical media. It's in their interest as they don't want the consumer to have control over the media. Younger generations don't even know what physical media is.

    Someone help me out. Im really confused between Ps5, Xbox X and s. Im preferring xbox S here(India) because of the budget it suits my wallet i.e if i liked it i may buy another joystick and i may buy 2-3 games for lifetime and also considering a game pass. So instead of going for Xbox X or PS5 i can get all those with xbox s but my question is am i going to miss anything if im opting S instead of X and Ps5 ?. Games that i like to play are World war z, Tekken 8, mortal combat, GTA 5, Batman Arkham Knight, spiderman etc

    With my I got my series S in the computer room next to my PC where my monitor is 1440p
    And then my series x is in the living on my 4K tv.
    With Xbox cloud saves, I can pick up and play on either or which makes it so much more convenient

    Steam big picture mode could do the same thing. Sure you have to manually turn on the pc but can boot right into big picture mode.
    But how about recent news that new games may just not be playable on the series s due to limitations. Would like your take on that one.

      70% of the Xbox user base that has purchased a new gen console has an S. I think 90% of games will be easily optimizable for the S. Essentially they are both PCs, one is essentially a 3060TI and the other a 1660 Super machine. If you can get a game running on one you should be able to do so on the other without making massive compromises.

    People who hate on the series s have never used one 4k isnt everything you do realize pretty much every game can be optimized for 1080 1440 and even the ps5 and series x cant really play native 4k especially at 60 fps buy a series s and save some money like a low key legendary genius 😉

      Still love my series S. Despite everything being so 4k oriented I still love mine on a 1440p OLED monitor. Looks incredible.

    I just bought myself a 75" 4K TV, and felt like giving gaming on the couch a go after a decade of being on the PC. I enjoy playing laid back story driven games while lounging and the Series S is perfect for that. Not to mention one of the best values in Gaming when bundeled with GamePass.
