Sooo….. we’ve going to see the CCs every summer since 2004, and listening to them even longer. This one time at their concert at the Hollywood Bowl we looked around and realized the crowd was so old…we looked 👀 at each other and were surprised to realize….. we’re part of that crowd! Time flies… enjoy your youth 💝 We still listen & love The CCs ❤
I used to listen to Counting Crows a lot around the time I was 16. Life got in the way and, I forgot about them. Found them again in my 40's. But, damn...these songs have me crying. It feels like you can relate to things he mentions in his music and has personally been through. Sometimes I have to stop listening for a bit, and just take a break. lol. (Listening to "Rain king" just tears me up inside) It really hits me hard for some reason. I'm sure other people here can relate. They are an amazing band.
Pretty similar story. I "rediscovered" them in my mid-30s, about 8 or so years ago. Something about the lyrics are broad enough that makes them relatable, but also carry all of the meaning that we have trouble putting words to.
I feel ya. Most of this album makes me break down and cry. I've been listening to them since my teen years. His lyrics are beyond amazing and very relatable!
No doubt about it, but I just feel like they've never been able to come close to their stuff from their first two albums. I don't know a single one of their newer songs that really hooked me
Thanks for acknowledging what has ALWAYS been so very obvious!! While they do put different twists on songs, what is ALWAYS CONSISTENT is that whatever the song or line-ùp, they're GREAT! I've never been disappointed by anything this band, and Adam are an entire genre to theirselves! You're absolutely RIGHT Jimmy Ewing. Awesome!!
You all prolly dont give a shit but does any of you know a method to get back into an Instagram account? I was stupid lost my account password. I would love any tips you can offer me.
@Karter Ignacio I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site thru google and im waiting for the hacking stuff now. Seems to take quite some time so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
The setlist in the description is incorrect (missing a song, missing timestamps, and incorrect numbering). Here's the correct setlist for this video (hopefully no mistakes!): 1. Round Here (0:0:05) 2. Untitled - Love Song (0:9:20) 3. Meet On The Ledge (0:14:33) 4. Four Days (0:19:13) 5. Hospital (0:23:05) 6. Colorblind (0:26:35) 7. Anna Begins (0:30:15) 8. Mercy (0:35:55) 9. @v4nNIx I think it maybe two songs plus of course rain King. but not sure what to songs you know he loves Bruce springsteen..at one point I had found some lyrics of Bruce's that went were same but can't remember what song and also Bruce has a song dream come true..or you someone does... you know it I'm sure. I could be your dream come true that old school song. but not sure if it sounds alot different and hard to associate as it because maybe tempo is completely different and unique go this version.. it maybe a blend of two songs plus rain king or you could be right it could be completely made up by him I like it so much either way. but I'll meet u back here if I find out what it is for sure. thanks
I can totally see how it annoys people that Adam changes the songs all the time but I personally think it's what helps make them one of the best live bands I've very seen. Between that, and Adams emotions. He's clearly allowing us a look inside his mind..that's not easy to do. I would love to just sit and talk to the guy for 30mins. Pick his brain a bit and hear More about his inspirations
Sometimes its annoying but they would get so bored sounding exactly same all the time. The band really is amazing and versatile. When i use headphones i always hear things i missed before. He was definitely born to sing. I never get sick of them and are always in circulation.
@@stonefaction seems like it needs more Adam. i'm not a fan of most random hipster (for lack of a better word) bands. not saying they need a major label. most of the voices annoy me and i am a guitar snob. i will keep looking into it. thx for mentioning the podcast, its a great idea to help other musicians and build the community.
@@infowazz I have only listened to the episodes that interested me, rather than them all (so basically the Prince ones and the Scottish/Joe McAlinden band(s) ones & maybe a couple of others). Because Adam is chatting with his buddy about music they both like, you do seem to get a more natural conversation and that does at times go into influences and sometimes snippets of back-story to individual songs etc.
i lived in maquoketa from 1980-84, was 11 years old when we left. You know the small town you remember your whole life...Your first best friend...Your first crush.. Was the town i saw E.T. for the first time in the theater, Stars Wars and all the greats...Back when life was great as a kid, when music was great... like this band.
The man is very deep extremely talented songwriter singer player actually on another level seldom seen completely exposed almost depressing but authentic and awesome
Kid things is at the end of the ‘This desert life’ album, it’s not mentioned on the sleeve, & is a minute or two after the last song, played the album for a year or do & didn’t know about it until one night lying in bed, headphones on, volume high, last song played, was drifting off to sleep, almost had a heart attack when the build up to kid things started .
Any live performance of this song ,is far superior to the official video . His adaptation of his unique contemplation or interpretation , makes each time a show case of the bands versatility in remaining one of rock and rolls greatest band which is untouched by far in it's creativity .And they can still Rock
The only thing Ive never liked about Counting Crows live shows is Adam rarely sings the songs in the same rhythm as the album. So I can be singing along and all of a sudden he leaves me stranded singing by myself and I realize just how bad my voice is. Damn you Adam
If I won the kind of lottery that paid in living out your fantasies I would want to be sing and write and emote like Adam Duritz and be in a band like Counting Crows . But at least I can play the piano so that's something
Wow, what a Negative Nancy. But seriously, he does sound an awful lot like Van Morrison on ludes at times. I like to hear it a little closer to the original as well.
What makes this band one of my 5 all-time favorites is that they DO change and rearrange their songs. Now, I don't think they ALWAYS sound good....but if I wanted to hear the record, I'd listen to the record. Most creative live band in existence.

I look forward to seeing there live videos because of his rewriting of all my favorites. Check out Mr. Jones from Storytellers and you can see him at his best with improv.
I know I'm leaving myself open for scrutiny but I'm sorry they sound like a broken down karaoke version of them selves. The emotion that was portrayed on the album is missing for me! That's just how I feel!
This band should be beyond reasonable criticism. Musical geniuses who might confuse lukewarm fans with their various spins on their own songs. But seriously, how can you not love what they did here with Round Here, Miami and Rain King?! They have been there before, and they deserve a little more...
I love this band but I hate when he talks instead of sings and just throws random shit in his songs. Just sounds like whatever comes to his head we get it " come out side" random colors random colors wtf?

Every song is different in every concert. Those who need the concert to match the studio recordings will hate them for that. I love them for that.

One of the greatest living songwriters. One of the all time greatest American rock bands.

A lot of songs become rote when you hear them over and over, but CC shows us that the poetry has meaning and emotion and power again.

Have you listened to his Underwater Sunshine podcast series? Gives a bit of insight into his inspirations, at least the musical ones.

God bless the Crows. That's one bad-ass band and a terrific concert.
You can tell by the intro , when they're ready to play a fan favorite . I think they enjoy playing as well as we enjoy listening .

Hope you're still alive, brother.
The World will certainly miss You. Me too.
i always love hearing Adam live doing a song with fresh tangents.. sport is different every game.. why shouldn't songs be
That’s incorrect. The sport doesn’t change from game to game. A basketball game is a basketball game. Good try.

Noticed he has got a bit of a Midwestern twang in his voice when he talks between songs. Guess that might be because he is Iowa.
Students well schooled, thanks 👍
The 4 people that disliked this were most assuredly Justin Beiber fans.
Concerts were so much better before everybody decided to use their phones to record a concert already being recorded.

Their musicianship is still superior to that of most bands, but increasingly they feel as though they are parodying what they were at their peak.
