Thank you for visiting our homeland of Samoa 🇼🇸. It was so beautiful to see you with the locals. Malo uso
We had a great time! Hope we can visit again soon!
I just wanna say that hours of watching these videos subconsciously taught me how to break a fish down and ended up being very helpful when I went to Pohnpei in the Pacific for research. We went out with our friend on our day off and caught a bunch of yellowfin and mahi mahi (I have never fished out in the ocean on a boat before), and he let us keep 2. My years of watching this channel out of pure entertainment and I was able to cut it up (very roughly for a first time) back at the house! So thanks for that lol
That one brah that caught the GT was all about the help and smiles. Nice!
Villi is the best!
Man you can just tell Villi is such a good dude, awesome episode!
Thumbs this up if Taku should get “It’s a good one” tattooed on his reel hand 😂
😆
"Fish. on"
@@ByronWerner-qw5sh on the other hand😂
@@OutdoorChefLife Come on taku, do it XDD
😂
Malo, Taku. So glad to see you and Jocelyn visit my Dad’s homeland.
Manuia fa’afetai.
Beautiful land!
It's so great that whether you're Japanese, Indonesian, Polynesian, or Micronesian, there is a culture of using every part of the fish. I get so sick of fishing channels where the heads and collars are tossed away like garbage - such disrespect for the ocean.
AGREED! Fish head/collar +carcass make for A-1+ soup stock
@@harrymiram6621I put all of this in my instapot 1/4 c vinegar 2T fish sauce mushrooms of choice 2 C of chicken stock or water handful of Thai chili
Hot and sour soup so good. Had firm tofu at the end. And noodles too. Yummm
@@harrymiram6621Yes add mustard greens, tomatoes, and onions and " Watch out" 😋
10:58, nice Kagami! I think they call them African pampano and diamond travelly in other parts of the world. You could actually see them next to the shore when you thought they were omilus. Awesome strike and way to land it from shore! Such a beautiful fish!
African Pompano in the Caribbean for sure.
Malo uso Taku fa'afetai for bringing our culture to light. Loving this series uso 🤙🏽
Never stop making videos my friend. I always look forward to watching on my lunch breaks! Come back to NZ soon :)
We called the. African Pompano. Great catch.
Been a subscriber and a fan of your content for so long and seeing you visit my homeland of Samoa is such an honor. Awesome bro!! Malō!!
Malo!
Can’t wait to go back home in Faleaseela. Been away for 14 years now.. out here slaying Uluas in Hawaii now😊. Definitely going to try out those spots when I go back Samoa lol. Taking VILI with me.
Another way to prep and eat breadfruit. Throw them on the fire skin on and get them charred then get some butter and eat them together🤙🏾.
Never knew you could fry them breadfruit, learned something today 🤔. I miss them breadfruit cooked with coconut milk and onions.
Itd be dope if you hosted Catch and Cook expeditions/camps. I’d sign up.
Malo Taku. It’s called Ulua in Hawaii and Malauli in Samoa. Manuia!
Your content never disappoints! You the man Taku!!
Malo le onasa'i Taku 🤙 alofa atu from New Zealand
Also I visited Samoa en route to Kanton Atoll in 2015. Beautiful spot. Didn't mind the Vailima! Wonder what happened to our deckhand, Taula. He'd get all excited and call bluefin trevally Bluvalley!
great video and great lovely family. thanks to all
Good times with good people! Love to see it!
Love what Jonny and his brother do at Malosi Studio! Love their plugs and their art. Awesome video Taku, amazing catch from the ledge!!!
🌴Yes a fishing vid , Taku filleting and one of the boys chasing fly’s it’s a sushi masters dream , it’s a tuff job but somebody’s gotta do it! 😂
I rate how you show the whole filleting of the fish its satisfying as to watch
Taku, you should consider renting some motorcycles, and then you and Jocelyn could pack some telescopic rods and do a catch & cook.
Enjoyed your catch and cook. It’s nice to have friends and family to share it with. Food is the best way to incorporate in celebrations. Ty so much for sharing it with us. Cheers to more! God bless
Your channel will surly be #1 in the future.. it’s already there for me
thank you!
I remember I watched your vids few years ago, and I totally forgot about you unfortunately. But gladly youtube algorythm made your vid pop up in my feeds. Thank you!
So glad you got to visit with my people. Thanks for this episode. Makes me miss home. Aloha!
It’s kind of rare to catch the “Kagami” especially with the long trailing fragile fins. Would be awesome to gyotaku it. Congrats

The overheat is so relatable, thats why I have a mini umbrella for my phone while filming 😂🤣☂️

Samoa looks like a great place to visit for people like me who like to camping simply. Also a great place of our group of friends who like the simple life too❤. The fishing looks great and the relaxation is good if you want it. 🎉
That breadfruit crunch is making me hungry!
Great skills processing the fish 😊
so sickkk 🔥🔥
production on point!
Epic fishing spot 💯
That noodle drop 🔥
I’d love to see you fish for GTs with cavy fishing
In Jamaica, they roast breadfruit over a fire, let it cool, peel it and then shallow fry it in oil and sprinkle with salt. It’s so good.
Been watching you from your foraging days and full time sushi chef. I would love to see you forage on a foreign land and use local ingredients whenever possible. Love the contents❤
That cold noodle bowl is inspiring!!
Much love from Sydney Australia brother 🙏😎
This is your best video yet. 😂😂Thanks for visiting our homeland.
They call these Kagami in Hawaii, but formally known as an African Pompano. Crazy catch 🤙🤙
Came here to say the same thing! Good call!
In the Philippines, we call them mumsa
I love how fish have different names in different parts of the world. Super interesting
It is also known as a Threadfin trevally. It’s a member of the Jack family.
