In Samoa, we call that Coconut rice, "Alaisa fa'apopo" and the coconut fish we call "Sua I'a". Polynesians have been eating it for ages. Glad you got to enjoy it!
@@AMF59 they might be .. The Family here came way of the Marine Corp and there were 14 brothers and sisters that grew up in a 2 bedroom house on Tropicana Street in Oceanside 🍻
My father-in-law taught me the first knuckle thing when cooking rice, so I haven’t measured the water in over 20 years. The first time my mother saw me do it, she thought I was crazy until she noticed my rice was always fluffy and perfectly cooked. Glad to see others using the same method!
Can always tell the character of someone by how they treat animals, especially ones that aren't in the best situation and need some love. You're good people!
Dogs on Niue have a good life and free to roam. The dog was from a neighbouring property so knew it shouldn't have been there really. I don't see any dog abuse here.
@OutdoorChefLife Hey Taku! My wife and I recently moved from Brazil to Oregon. TODAY, we saw a World Market store and finally got to buy a Chili Crisp! OMG! So good! Thank you so much! We started following you since 2020, and so far we haven't missed a single episode. We wish you and Jocelyn a great 2024! Leandro & Jazelle.-
What are the chances!!! Met Jocelyn n Taku on the street of our home town in Aotearoa... hey Taku the invitation to Matakana Island stands Bro xx Jocelyn... we love ya girl. Keep doing your thing xx
I missed out on the first knife offering, so I ordered one of the first ones on this run. It’s ludicrously sharp and has maintained the edge with frequent use! Thanks for the great content and super high quality products!
Hey Taku , I was the Scraper and the Juicer , even when we left Niue and went to NZ !!!… I husked I scraped I juiced … when you’re the youngest like I was ☹️ everyone promoted me to all 3 🙄☹️ and theres actually “ A RYTHYM “ to the Scraping Jocelyn 😆 you will definitely get that rythym when you scrape long enough 😂💃🏼 Glad to see youre NOT standing on the cliff top fishing again Taku 👍 that was heart attack stuff watching you do that 👀 how about some Ota and Misi too Taku 😋 I miss Niuean food .. Misi with breadfruit and fried fish 😋😋😋 any Niuean food will be good right now 😍😛
Another excellent vedio from the Island on Niue. Thankyou Taku and your beautiful wife crating the coconut after you husking it with that sharp steel. Wow extracting that fresh milk was Wesome. Your cooking is out of this world, as you cook what you catch. Thankyou for taking us with you. From New Zealand
Taku, the coconut cream rice is what we called "Nasi Lemak", minus the garlic. and if you add curry powder to the Wahu dish, you will get what we called as "kari ikan" or curry fish. we also usually include the head too.
Made marinated soft boiled eggs for the first time last night, and used the paper towel trick i learned from you to get an even color. Turned out incredible, thanks for the tip taku
I cant imagine the chaos at the local boat ramp if people had to operate a crane to launch their boats here lmao. People struggle to back a trailer down the ramp. there'd be boats getting dropped, utes and trailers in the ocean and people getting crushed left right and center.
Don't worry we get our fair share of visiting yachties. Married couples trying to get their tenders lifted out is a entertaining thing to witness for sure.
Oh my gosh.... That water is soooo pretty. Looks like an enormous swimming pool! :o Also, very interesting to see the filleting process from a cross-section. xD I legit feel smarter now because that's typically not the perspective you see that process from! :D
Smoked Cuda is the way to go!!! An old timer once told me that the Cuda is an oily fish and smoking it was the way to go. He was right. I heavy smoked it with mesquite and it was fire 🔥
I used to say bacon makes everything better, but you've shown how coconut cream can do it, too. Glad Ian came back to get some fish for family. Jocelyn pretty in pink
Fuck yeah taku!!! I was here at 80k subs!!! I haven't been here in a while and noticed your at 700k!!! Well deserved my baydestrian!!! Oakland to vallejo to San Francisco!!!!
Ono(wahoo)for me is one of the fish for seviche, just don’t over cooked it with lime, lemon or vinegar just enough to start soaking the inside still fresh.Head and bones for soup lots of tomatoes red pearl onions with watercress or sweet potato leaves, yummy.
Hi from mike A. From LA.CA. HEY guys. Those fish where huge. Im not a cocunut fan. But this was still a good video. And it always kills me when Taku you drink your first beer at the beginning you love it so much you almost could drink the WHOLE beer in one gulp.
cut the top and bottom off of garlic knob and break it up and put in two bowls closed together and shake for 20-30 sec all over the place fast and it will deshell the garlic completely!
First off love your videos and the way you cook and fish.random question where did you get those black suspenders at the end I love them and want to get some.sorry overalls.
For a dude with no boat Taku sure gets a lot of time on the water. Love the videos!
Best way to do it. Borrow from friends then give it back.

BET HE'S HAD BAD PEOPLE AROUND THAT'S WHY SO SHY!!!!!😢😮
He wasn’t even looking for food! Just looking for love😭😭
Yah, sad that once Taku and Jocelyn leaves, the dog will go on begging and being mistreated

Your wife scrapping the coconut like a bro😅
Fishing in our small island is always fun❤😂
Coconut session reminded me of growing up in the Philippines. Thanks for the memories
Seeing a cross section filet was so cool! To see the knife so finely trace along the bone is a true art!
I let out a " hot damn!" Now That's a fish steak! 😋

Glad to see you enjoying barracuda. They are great table fare. Fears of ciguatera are overblown.
