      I'm actually really glad for it, Twitch chat tends to ruin any long playthrough they get their hands on. I understand Twitch is required for people to have decent revenue, I only wish it weren't the case.

    Honestly I usually prefer pre-recorded and edited down playthroughs anyway. If it fits your schedule better, go for it. And no chat distraction or backseating is a good thing in my mind.

    The new approach sounds sensible. Take as much time as you need - as long as you *do* keep going. It's a privilege to experience this playthrough. There are a few great playthrough series on youtube notoriously spanning YEARS (decades even in case of, for example, "Freemans mind"). Nothing wrong with that.

    Honestly as long as you don't get burnt out and take it at your own pace, take as long as you need.
    When Elden Ring came out, WoolieVersus did a similar thing where Woolie would go through the side dungeons and other things offline whilst recording. Then when the next stream happened, he woukd recap anything interesting at the start of the stream. Very similar way of taking on a large game that is a great compromise for the audience.

    To be real, this is more ideal. I'm here for what you can bring to it more than just vicariously experiencing the game again by watching someone else play. I'm much more intrigued by stuff like when you get the whiteboard out and diagram things like domains of Harry's experience or what's going on with Cuno. That's what's unique to your perspective and what I like to see. To be real, I've played Disco Elysium and I already get the plot of it. What I don't already know is Brady.

    When it comes to DE, it might be even preferable as it makes it easier to focus. Besides, as great as the game is, its fandom is reaaally backseat-happy so it's easier to have actually your own playthrough with your own choice without the chat trying to force you to do something else for memes.

    to streamline the editing process, I can recommend using the replay buffer feature that makes a recording of the specific last few minutes. that makes several smaller files of specific highlights rather than one big recorded file you have to edit down.

    lotta content changes lately eh 😂 do what’s best for you man, whatever helps the experience is a-okay in my book. You’ll still have a lot to say about a lot of DE characters like Cuno/Cunoesse, Lena, Kim, and many you haven’t even met yet
    I’d also like to say, although a lot of people are here for your insight, you’re just a generally pleasant person to be around… it’s fun to just hang out on your streams every once in a while. Hey there,
    I stumbled upon your channel just yesterday and enjoyed a lot the first episode of your playthrough. As someone with very little knowledge about psychology, addiction, and mental state analysis, I found it really interesting, it added a whole new layer of depth to the game. Exploring such topics within the context of a video game is a great medium.
    I haven't had the time to watch breakaway videos like the one on volition yet, but they're definitely next on my list. I think it's a great format to get the most of this psychological viewpoint you have without needing the whole game as a background. I guess the playthrough allows to see your reaction more "raw" and as a whole rather than seperated but if it's not possible with your schedule, then be it. It will also be more digest to watch, I won't have time to watch all the playthrough video and the breakway / standalone video are a better format for me.
    Whatever the changes are, it was a knowledge wealth I didn't have yesterday so I just wanted to thank you for that !
    Love from France 😁

    @nooneimportant9775 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Hey, if this helps your mental health _and_ gets us more content variety there’s really no downside to this switch. I’m glad you’re still going to be recording yourself playing games so we can at least see you experience some things, instead of getting your commentary after the fact (which is fun too, but I think a mix of both is good). As for Edith Finch, that game is 100% about the experience so hopefully you can either just stream/record the whole thing since it’s pretty short.

    I really hope that the urge to 'finish' it doesn't overtake you too much. I've seen so many Lets Plays of this game that were interesting at first only to nose-dive because people misunderstand that finishing the mystery is not any more an important part of Disco Elysium than the rest (it's very intentional that your quest list doesn't have a 'main quest' block or such like most RPGs), and that talking to all the people on the side-tangents **is** the content.

    For what it's worth, there are LPers who take a year or more getting through Disco Elysium. Usually because they don't stream a whole lot of hours and/or they comment a lot, speculate, or go on tangents all the time. But proceeding offline is a great solution, especially given the focus of your playthrough
    From your last vods it looks like you're in a tight spot with money. You may be alright. But maybe not. You might consider reloading earlier saves if you have any from before you bought some items. If I were you I'd take care to not overwrite those older saves in case you need to go back.
    If you're up for dark magic people also figured out how to alter their save files to change stats like money

My one wish is that we could get full VODs anyway, maybe in a hidden playlist if you're too much of a perfectionist to let the Brady who isn't in entertainment mode be presented to the public. I'll repost this if you want advice to get money, which can be very tight on day 2. You need $20 to rent the night, or it's game over.
    There really isn't a ton to make from bottles. I found a total of $2.60 from the areas that are currently open to you. The main areas being Harry's room and his outdoors drinking binge.
    Can get money in the doomed warehouse area (behind the curtain in the bookstore). There's is one object, in particular, is worth quite a lot (although you may want to keep it for reasons).
    There is a LOT of money that is possible (not certain) to obtain in that crate by the docks that is moved by the crane. It's difficult to open without being an Ultra liberal though.
    I'm not 100% sure, but i think having a higher perception allows finding more objects.
    There are several objects that can't be opened without equipping the prybar, or chaincutters (both functon the same). There is money inside some of them.
    Can get money from Siileng.
    Did you completely search the apartment complex? Did you open the doors? There are two sets of stairs leading to balconies that have some money.
    Did you completely search the main floor of the hotel? There is a bit of money in the kitchen and around the hardy boys.
    One thing I don't get is how you found those smokes. I've been looking, and looking, and I can't find smokes around Tommy, but you just stumbled on over them.

    I discovered your channel through your Disco Elysium playthrough; your commentary and character analysis has brought this game to a whole new level! I love how you invest your time into making in-depth discussions on mental health in a 'fictional' world that is very much applicable to real life--- I've already learned a lot from it!
    You have every right to experience media in a way that suits your lifestyle best. It seems like the hours involved with streaming didn't sound sustainable and it's good that you're altering it to better suit your schedule! I think many of us agree that you should go at your own pace and enjoy!
    I'm so stoked that you plan to play "What Remains of Edith Finch" because it's a favorite of mine, and it's another really unique game/experience that offers a lot to unpack emotionally. In the meantime, take care!

    a lot of VOD watchers are adding their thoughts in this comment section. I think I'll add my own perspective, so you know your audience a bit better: I've never been able to consistently follow a stream, so it's been pure VODs for me, for this one.
    and as many have said before: disco elysium is *dense*. so much so that I'm actually not caught up to your latest VOD, having stopped to take a break about 20 minutes in.
    and all I have to do is watch! streaming is hard! streaming this game under your circumstances sounds insane. for your own health, I fully endorse your decision.

  • @dimitriid
    @dimitriid 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    I get that games like Disco Elysium are popular for many other streamers as well, but you gotta remember that most of the people that can stream a game like Disco Elysium are *full time streamers* so they actually get to stream for like 4-6 hours each time 4 or even 5 times per week because that's all they do for a living or even overall.
    So I think that you should definitively dedicate time for Disco Elysium as VoDs only and just pick up some other, more streaming-friendly games: Not sure if I can recommend something since I don't know what you like and such but there's many other games where you could conceivable find interesting, fun to comment on and that don't actually require you to stream more than sporadically since they're not branching narratives people want to focus on and are just contained sessions.
    And yes even specifically RPGs there are some games where the game is either divided into smaller chunks or are more about emerging storytelling around open worlds and not really tied to overall narratives all that much (Think your Skyrims and such) so maybe those would be for example, better suited for your livestreams.

    For me this change doesn't sound like it would affect the quality of your DE playthrough since I can't catch Twitch streams live anyway. I think from now on it might even be an unintentional improvement as you've had your introduction to the game and get to solve and experience the rest of mystery on your own without people dropping guiding hints. Good luck :D
    As for other games have you played or considered playing Pathologic 2? It has an entire town worth of kids to save and probably the densest written and deepest narrative in gaming (that I've personally come across having followed video games since the early 90's), which you can't experience in its entirety in one playthrough. It's in fact so niche the most of it will more than likely fly by you unless you're well versed in 18th and 19th century Russian history, philosophy, psychology, mythology as well as occult and esoteric concepts. Whereas Disco Elysium is quite relaxed with its progression of time and the limits you have, in Pathologic 2 almost every second counts and is the matter of life and death for every town citizen and major character in story, so it's also brutally challenging game to get through.

  • @glennvr_4982
    @glennvr_4982 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I actually prefer edited offline playthroughs instead of long twitch vods. You can cut the dull moments, you don't need to "be on" for every little moment and you can pick and choose what you want to share. As long as you keep the narrative of the game in tact in the vids, you'll be fine. And as a watcher on youtube, no chat is actually better. Less distractions and conversations we're not even part of.
    That being said, enjoying the Disco Elysium vids and curious what your thoughts are on BG3 and the companion storylines. Alot of tragedy and trauma to be analyzed there.
    If you'd like a recommendation for a new game in the future, Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Rebirth are some of the best games out there. You don't have to know anything prior about the FF series. Other games I would recommend are A Plague's Tale: Innocence and the sequel Requiem.
    Anyways, take it easy and I look forward to future vids.

You should stick with what you enjoy, and not overexert to please some corporate overlords and their algorithm. I really endorse your new proposed approach, not because it'll cut on "unertertaining content", but because it feels like you'll have a more comfortable schedule. Honestly prerecorded episodes sound perfect if nothing else because it eliminates the issue of chat pressuring you to play in a way that doesn't feel natural to you, which became annoying and unpleasant to see even as a viewer.

    I think it’ll be much better for you if you stream without concerning yourself with content, like playing games like Hollow Knight every once in a while for example. It’s a different vibe but a lot less stressful lol. Of course you can store ideas away for future videos, but that doesn’t mean it has to be something you go in depth on in the moment on stream you know? A lot of streamers actually do it this way. But regardless of what you end up doing, I’m sure your content will be as enjoyable as ever. Good luck 👍
    …also, hooray for more anime content! Frieren especially has just been knocking it out of the park every single episode. I missed your videos on it for sure lol, looking forward to them

    Don't be so hasty to attribute wants and needs to your viewers. I, for one, would love to have Disco Elysium content at the pace you would like or could put it out. And the same goes for any other content. This trent of putting up content and hurrying through things as fast as possible is not something that TH-cam in it's original state was about and I really dislike how it is gotten over the years. It used to be about having fun putting up the kind of content you wanted to when you wanted to. Now it's just about money as usual. Just my 2 cents to this.

    Honestly, I think I would kind of prefer that as a VOD watcher. I would rather have just the parts of the playthrough you picked out because you thought it was meaningful than literally everything.
