With DE and Yakuza as your main projects, I feel like we're set with content for actual years!
No complaints btw, love love both of these things
it's going to be a loong trip...for all the reasons.
No fucking way. Seriously. The most out of the blue thing I could ever see. And I love it.
First Disco Elysium, and now Yakuza 0!? Now that's what you call - a good taste in games.
"At some point I'm going to ask the question. The question that I always ask, which is-"
WHO BENEFITS
"What would therapy with this individual look like?"
Oh, that too.
The reason Kiryu has such a good singing voice is because his VA is the lead singer in a band
They're really good too
Naturally gravitating towards Baka Mitai? I knew he had good taste already but damn...
Maybe you are already aware of it, but the 80's in Japan was the era of the bubble economy, basically the golden age when Japan's economy was growing so quickly, there were legitimate concerns about how economically powerful they were going to get (my dad recalls that during this period, everyone around him was saying that Japan would "buy the World").
The game takes place in December 1988. The last MONTH of this era, before the bubble pops, and Japan enters a recession it is still not entirely out of to this day.
It fits very well with the story of the game; knowledge of the future (both of the series and IRL) completely shifts the perspective on everything and everyone.
oh boy can't wait for majima. he might be my favorite character pyschologically ever
I never expected you to pick up Yakuza 0, and I am so, so, so excited for you to make your way through it. With the way you've responded to this intro alone, I'm so hype to see what you take from other segments of the game later on. Thank you for giving this game a shot! I can't wait to see the rest!
Yakuza? It's a perfect game/series for the character analysis. This is the place where I looove the long pauses with thoughts sharing and 0 is a perfect place to start, already excited!
This was really interesting already, and he hasn't even gotten to the liuetenants... or Majima 🤭 damn that is going to be fun
Didn't see this coming! Hell yes. If you ever went down the Persona rabbit hole then you'd be hitting all the quadrants for me
I attempted Persona 5 before but didn't have the time to really sink in to it then. I plan to give it shot again at some point, perhaps with Persona 3
First knew you from your DE stream and now you're playing my favorite series of all time? This is too good to be true
I love how you watch 5 minutes of Kiryu and Nishiki casually talking and you already have theories about the conflicts between their lives and risks of future betrayal.
...Is this how couples therapists think?
Your narration makes all the games more fun
as someone who is on my own Yakuza journey (up to 5 now), I am just thrilled to see this playthrough. don't have much to say besides that I loved hearing your thoughts, already so in depth early on, and am very much looking forward to more :) mostly just throwing my engagement into the pot for the ol youtube machine
Heck yeaaaaahhhh!! This is so exciting!! Are you planning on playing the whole saga? It consists of 10 mainline games, so this will be quite a long trip 😅
Probably not all recorded like this, no. It would take the rest of my life 😅
@@eurobrady You should at least also do Yakuza: Like a Dragon, aka Yakuza 7, which is like a soft reboot with new characters and replaces the brawler combat with RPG combat!
The story of that game focuses on a lot of fascinating themes, like restarting your life from nothing in your 40s, and people who are stuck in "gray areas" of society like homeless people, sex workers, immigrants stuck working illegal jobs, etc. and the things they do to try to survive and make a life for themselves in our flawed world where good people end up in tough lives and have to make the most of the hand they're dealt whether its fair or not, and sometimes resorting to legally gray areas out of necessity. Additionally, it touches on the idea of when its justified to break laws to stand up for what's right, and the idea of whether you can be both a criminal or a hero.
I'd love to hear your takes on all of those things!
Oh! And Yakuza: Like A Dragon is the first game to have an English dub! (And it's good!)
I sincerely hope this game blows up here as it's my favorite series, yt algorithm please recommend this to hell and back 🙏
Pleeeeese do more videos of this game :)
This is everything I've ever wanted! Yakuza 0 is a wild ride and super thought invoking, I'm so excited to see this series through your eyes, especially with all of the power and relationship dynamics on offer.
I suggest you grind while giving the psychology lectures. Otherwise we’ll all be here for decades
You are acting like he's using your time
He doesn't need grind or rush thing go watch a no commentary playthrough if you're in a rush
Personally i like his commentary
@@i0rulemate it was just a friendly suggestion
One of my favorite videogame franchises of all time. They're just really fun to play and have alot of content. Yakuza Kiwami is probably my favorite.
A fan of Berserk, Disco Elysium, AND Yakuza?? We might be the same person
@@nommerz5465Haha great minds think alike I suppose.
Cannot wait to see your take on Majima's part of the story.
Goro Majima? The guy who runs the Cabaret Grand? The perfectly normal nightclub owner?
@@GregorCaliber Yeah! I dunno, the side characters in this game are just so interesting. It'll be like Frittte girl all over again, I can feel it XD
I'm even more curious about his thoughts on Sagawa
majima, my princess with a disorder ❤
@@disnagburnazog9552 you get it
Also, if you're still taking suggestions, by god, do a run of Katawa Shoujo (with the adult scenes off, of course) because boy howdy that goes some *interesting places*
Very here for this as an ongoing series. Really loving to hear your insights and takes on these characters and enjoying the vicarious return to a game I love.
Kiryu really feels like he's meant to be the idealized 'traditional' Yakuza--yes, a criminal, but a necessary means to keeping the city safe from bigger threats. In the same way that Titus and the Hardie Boys are operating outside of the limits of the law in Disco Elysium, Kiryu embodies that sort of rugged vigilantism. It's interesting, then, to see how such an archetypal person engages with an actual world that they're placed in. What do you do when the conflict can't be punched? How do you handle a world that's increasingly leaving you behind? I think that's where the Yakuza series hits its strongest moments--those explorations of how these very eccentric, larger than life icons grapple with reality. But also everyone gets to take their shirts off and do a big cool fight too and there's karaoke and dancing and so many hours of minigames.
Brady less than an hour into the game: "I love these two and I want them to be friends forever" YES, HE GETS IT
i've not been this excited to start a playthrough in a long time, holy shit! yakuza is one of my favourite stories ever with a ton of my favourite characters, and i LOVE playthroughs that stop to think about the implications of everything, so having somebody like yourself with the real-life experience to back it up... this is already fascinating and so so cool. i hope you enjoy the ride, this series is so much fun!
Before I fell in love with this series, I thought it was just a silly beatemup game with an overarching narrative that only existed to move you around the map from battle to battle. Little did I know, this series (all 13 games that are available on Steam) would make me cry MULTIPLE TIMES during their stories, which is something no game franchise has ever managed to do to me. To anyone who is reading this comment who loves great stories with compelling characters: I urge you, PLEASE CHECK OUT YAKUZA 0. It is genuinely one of the best games I have ever played, and is absolutely a game you should not ignore. Playing through this series is one of the best gaming decisions I have ever made.
Man, therapy with Kiryu would be MONTHS of stonewalling
Good for you, but i hope we dont miss out on disco elysium!
It's not going anywhere! Good to have variety otherwise I'll get burnt out only playing one game.
Honestly as someone else who started from yakuza 0, yakuza 0 is a terrible start to the series. Why?
*Majima*
I will not explain more. 🤣
Kiryu is one of my top favorite well written characters, love the Yakuza series & digging this channel!
15:25 I legit thought the big question you were gonna ask would be “who benefits?”
It's definitely the question I'm gonna ask next episode now that there's a conspiracy 😆
Can’t wait to see more of this, Kiryu is such a great character and I’m excited to see your thoughts on him later on
Make me remember I still have Ishin and The Man Who Erased His Name to start why don't you.
Never clicked something so fast
I havent played these, but its easy to insert myself into kiryus position here so far. Feels like his life is dictated to him and everything is about being obligated, and all the shoulds that come with it.
I can't wait for 50 episode breakdown on Goro Majima. Hopefully you get sucked into the Yakuza series like I did.
If you'll want to see more of Nishiki and Kiryu's dinamic after this one, you should play Yakuza (Kiwami) 1 next.
I would say that yakuza 0 is a terrible way to start the series, it is easily the best game in yakuza, and spoils some plot in all others games. I am afraid other games would seem not so good after this.
Great Game with a great story
Yakuza 0 is great for you Brady, there`s a big focus on story and characters, almost none "grinding" segments and a lot of side content also revolves around human day-to-day hardships.
and i really hope you`ll like them enought to see most of them.
But i worry later instalments do not quite meet this mark. But also its too early to think about it. Must be a yakuzafan thing, but it would surely be cool to see your opinions throught the franchice as the world of yakuza akin to 1k episode melodrama than a beat-em-up game franchise
Brady casually predict the entire plot of Yakuza 1
Man, I really wish Brady gets to play a therapist in some TTRPG, led by a GM with a knack for solid character / world building.
I'm loving the cat just jumping at the door in the background around 36:00 lmaoooooo
I hope this series keeps going! Thanks for this part anyway if not😊
Really cool that you picked up on Kiryu and Nishiki's dynamic so quickly, they're very much one another's shadow.
you'll love managing cabaret clubs and real estate agencies :D
loving the vid but 36:10 your cat was lunging LOL
Oh, this is going to be fun. Especially after you meet the second protagonist of this game.
This might convince me to continue and finish my walkthrough of Yakuza 0 that I stopped midway
Yakuza is an incredible franchise with a deep rabbit hole. Looking forward to seeing how this goes!
How are you only playing games that I have a strong emotional connection to, get out of my head
Disco Elysium and Yakuza 0? Wow!!!
on my knees praying that you dont have another month hiatus, i am feinding for your video's and i check your yt and twitch everyday
but i also encourage you to play substories and other menial side missions off screen, this is a game where you can do both content creation and have offscreen personal enjoyment without making the viewers feel left out
I love this series so much, you really know how to pick 'em!
Chat wake up, he is playing peak rn
You made the rightest choice
Let's plays are so back baybee
Welcome to the circus.
Oh my god the tonal dissonance between DE and Yakuza couldn't be more absurd. Like going from Schindler's List to Inglorious Basterds. This is incredible.
Oh my, I am absolutely here for this.
Holy moly, awesome!
Lets goooo
I will watch the video later but man... I am totally down for some Euro Brady Yakuza goodness.
Oh boy. This game is huge, like 31 hours minimum if you just do the main story but up to 140 hours if you do everything else
Never played a yakuza game but always wanted to so looking forward to this series
babe wake up new Euro Brady series just dropped 🗣️🗣️🗣️
Amazing to see this series be covered! I can’t wait for more!
LETS GOOOO
1:00:39 Just wait 24 years…
