    I noticed at 24:23 or so there is a black plug, under the front of the manifold bracket is that a crankcase vent hose if so I actually broke mine off and am replacing.

      @NoClutchGarage  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It is a "fresh air vent" it is check valved and only allows air to go in, if you broke it off you will be fine.

    My take from my install, coolant and oil lines were the most difficult. Didn't want to damage anything so pulled all the lines off the block vs the turbo. That bracket that holds the turbo is hard to get to and it did cause a bit of a headache when reinstalling the turbo. Oh and don't forget that top manifold bracket although not too hard to put back in if you forgot lol. Good work, made it look very easy which I'd say it is compared to other vehicle turbo installs I've done.

      I cut out a lot of the time obviously but yes it is relatively easy

    NOTE: I have been in the prime vs not prime the turbo debate for a long time. I have swapped out plenty of turbo, sometimes I have primed and sometimes I have not. In my experience it makes no difference. Oil comes in pressurized and very quickly into the CHRA, if your turbo siezes on startup I can guarantee not priming your turbo was not the cause of it. Your favorite mechanic and turbo maker doesn’t prime their turbos 90% of the time.
    Is it the correct procedure to prime? Yes. Will it kill your turbo if you don’t? No. Drop a few drops of oil into the CHRA if you feel uneasy about not priming and you’ll be ok. ✌🏼

    Oil going back through is actually super good for high hp.

    Heads up, Loctite doesn't do anything for exhaust bolts. Heat is too high to be effective.

    Pulled the stock turbo last night installing a DAW. I decided to replace the lines as they had a lot of miles on them.
    When you lifted it out it looks like you lifted from the turbo side and let the other side dip down. I had a rough time getting it out but I know it can and did eventually. Thoughts?

    • @NoClutchGarage
      @NoClutchGarage  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Best way to lift it is to grab the turbo itself and pull up and off the bracket.

      I plan on doing something like this but it is hard to do because every turbo will perform different depending on how it is tuned and climate and a bunch of other factors.

  • @y00h000
    @y00h000 ปีที่แล้ว

    Really makes me nervous removing that support bracket. I understand the mani and downpipe can hold the weight but surely it’s putting extra pressure especially on the top threads into the head no?

    • @NoClutchGarage
      @NoClutchGarage  ปีที่แล้ว

      I chose not to re-install the bracket but you may choose to do it. Fit me is as simple as the fact that I’m always messing with my car and there is enough support everywhere else to hold the manifold in place. For reference every single full frame kit out there relies largely and solely on their intake manifolds to support the weight of the turbo. As long as everything is torqued in properly, there shouldn’t be an issue.

  • @mickl6384
    @mickl6384 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Prime the new turbo before first start up. Unplug injectors and crank it over to get oil through the turbo.

    • @NoClutchGarage
      @NoClutchGarage  ปีที่แล้ว +5

      You can if you want and that’s the correct procedure but it is not make a difference. Oil comes in at 100 psi, it gets to the turbo plenty fast.
      Your favorite turbo maker doesn’t prime them. Just saying.

    • @thefastforte2854
      @thefastforte2854 ปีที่แล้ว

      @NoClutchGarage also don't have to unplugged injectors to prime,

    as one of the options daw offers a race thrust assembly, any idea what that is? might be a stupid question but just wanted to know what it is before i option for it.

    • @NoClutchGarage
      @NoClutchGarage  ปีที่แล้ว

      The thrust assembly refers to the design of the thrust plate which helps oil the turbo. On a standard plate it has one oil port, the race thrust assembly has 3 oil ports which aids in lubrication and overall turbo cooling, resulting in better turbo performance.

    700 wheel capable with port? Or would the ultra flow be better for the 700 wheel range?

      @NoClutch Garage not a 2.5 bro, even with Port that's not possible According to shoup. U need the 2.5+ which will do 650whp on pi maxed out, flowmax ultraflow will get u to 700whp on pi tho

    Did you have any trouble getting the turbo to fully seat in the turbo mounting bracket on the manifold? I’m current doing this install and it doesn’t seem like it wants to sit as deep in the bracket as stock, therefore the hole on the turbo support bracket below isn’t close to lining up with the hole on the turbo. I know you completely removed that support bracket which I fully support, I just don’t know if I should be concerned about the turbo manifold not being seated as deeply. Thanks!

    • @NoClutchGarage
      @NoClutchGarage  ปีที่แล้ว

      I did not remove the bottom support bracket but the top one yes.
