I wonder if you could have added the smarties just after the cookie dough was baked, just push them in slightly while the dough is hot ?

That's what you're supposed to do. The top of the dough stays soft for a bit, and you're supposed to press them down slightly into the top right after it comes out of the oven.
Grace, i had to pause and say that the smarties fading made it look much more beautiful and delicate! I'd definitely prefer this over bright colours. Muted pastels are so pretty

In the good ol' US of A we make our puppy chow/muddy buddies by pouring the powdered sugar into a paper grocery sack, then dump in the cereal coated with the peanut butter mix, and shake. It also STILL works better if you do half at a time though :)
Yes! I also like dry food, thank you! People act like I'm so weird for only wanting enough sauce to coat my pasta, and always needing extra rice with curries and Chinese.

Perhaps you could use an icing pen for the bunny eyes or something smaller? Love these ideas and definitely going to try. My favourite Easter treats were homemade nest cakes, you know the chocolate shredded wheat with the delicious mini eggs on top and cold from the fridge 🤌 also Rice Krispie cakes!

I was quite literally holding my breath as I watched the part with the compostable bag. Mine always seem to melt/dissolve when they have even just a little bit of liquid in, especially if it is lukewarm. I'm so glad that there were no spillages!
Grace I love how ingenuitive you are, nothing wrong with the bag you used, if next time you don't have a bag I think the box that you put the Easter bunny chow in would work fine for coating and mixing everything together. Also these all look so tasty and I'm with you on the East egg cheesecake a waste of a good Easter egg that 😂 though my family would disagree😂
When my family would make the bunny chow we called it puppy chow and would use a paper lunch bag to mix it. My cousins and I would all get our own paper bag to mix our own to eat.

Try M & Ms Easter colors for the flowers. We have always called that mix puppy chow or sometimes kibble.

Love the little carrots, except I'd have to buy multiple bags of the peppers because the little ones are sold in 4-5 (orange, red and yellow). Would need a plate full of orange ones. I too was going to suggest @Vanessa Conney's suggestion about pushing in the smarties after it was baked...

I grew up with Muddy Buddies being called puppy chow...probably bc there IS a resemblance to dog food, but it tastes great

The bunny chow you made that you said looks like dog food. Funny enough it's normally called "puppy chow" in tne states. Hence how it got the name for the snack
In South Africa they also changed the colourants in Smarties. Now when you open the box it looks like someone sucked the colour off them. It's patchy and tastes weird 😢
