Not everyone can afford the flagships. But the google devices with the updates and extra's smooth android experience. Its still a great all around phone.
But they’re already nailing the software. They have been for the last couple years, now they need to showcase some better hardware like before! The 3XL had a QHD Display and a Snapdragon 845 Chip. Better specs than the 4a 5G & 5.

Probably wouldn't even notice the speed difference from the pixel 4 or 5 for that matter. lol Phones are just fast nowadays. 120hz doesnt even seem smoother to my eyes. As long as my phone is fast I'm happy. Anything google or flagship 2019 and on is going to be a 2 year phone. Good luck....
The Pixel 5 has an e-sim as well as taking a regular plastic nano-sim. It’s basically a dual sim device (the 4a 5g could also have an e-sim). Im not sure if two sims can run concurrently though! Some telco providers send a QR code to customers, and when scanned the onboard e-sim is programmed into being just like a regular plastic sim. The iPhone 11and 12 have e-sims too!
Recently purchased the Pixel 5 and I must say it's a darn good phone. Speakers aren't as bad as people make it out to be. the 4a does sound better though. That 90hz is buttery smooth and may seem like nothing but this being my first 90hz phone you can defiantly tell the difference. Oh and Pixel 5 battery like is amazing seems like you get almost a extra 45mins to a 1hr vs the 4a
I went from a samsung galaxy S8+ to a pixel 4a5g. The 4a5g is the better choice in my opinion. Good battery life, no screen lag, head phone jack, decent price tag, 4k video, great sound and takes good images if you're into all that.
I went with the pixel 4a 5G over the 4A. Although I prefer the size of the standard 4a. The trade in credits available from Google are much better with the 4a 5g. I'm on T-Mobile and with a new advent of standalone 5G I went to 5G route for the best coverage. I'm more concerned with coverage than actual increase speed.
Got my parents the Pixel4a 5g. Their only complaint is how hard to organize the Photos are (mind they are over 60 years old). Everything else seems perfect so far.

I absolutely love my Pixel 5. In fact, I haven’t liked a “Google phone” this much since the Nexus 5. I paid $649 with a Google Black Friday deal, but even at $699 it is still a great price for what you get. The size and features make a great package all around. Thanks to Google for delivering the goods this year.
I have the 4a 5G which works great, prefer the big screen on here. Still runs smooth and 5G is good depending on your area, plus the speaker quality is way better on here then the 4a and 5.
What baffles me is that the pixel 5 with a smaller footprint, has a 4000mah battery. But the 4a 5G with a a bigger footprint has a 3800mah battery. Would love to see a teardown of the 4a 5G to see the amount of wasted space.

Love the Pixel phones. The stock Android is the way to go. I am planning on getting the 5 and my wife is getting the 4a 5g. Both have pixel 3a right now. Price difference is the pixel 5 is about $8 more a month over the 4a5g. For $8 more a month I'll love having the water resistance, 90hz refresh rate, wireless charging, 2gb more ram. All major upgrades over the pixel 3a and all together worth the added cost in my opinion. Don't need a headphone jack because I have airpods, plus I'm not into big phones, hence why I have a pixel 3a and not a 3a xl. 6" display on the 5 is larger than the 3a, and on a smaller frame phone.
Everyone, if you have an old pixel phone Google has a very aggressive trade in offer right now for the Pixel 4a 5G since they are not selling these devices. Personally I'm not a fan of these phones since they nerfed the processing power on them, but if you have a Pixel 2 or lower, they are offering $235 trade in value. Basically you can get a Pixel 4a 5G for $265 only. Very good deal for a 3+ year old phone trade in.
I have the Pixel 5, I hate the earpiece main speaker under the glass, I make a lot of phone calls and this is sort of annoying but I prefer it over the 4a 5g because of the newer gorilla glass durability, waterproof, and dust resistance. I just feel as though I can throw it in my pocket and not worry as much. I can hold it in my small to medium hands easier than the 4a 5g, I prefer the 90hz screen over the 4a 5g...it just looks better in day-to-day use. All that being said......if none of that matters and you want a headphone jack...go for the $200 cheaper phone....I'll keep the Pixel 5 but you aren't losing much if you get the 4a 5g.

Going from a pixel 3a xl to a pixel 5 would make no sense. But on the other hand the $349/$499 price tag makes no sense all because of the 5g. The $70 for a pixel 3a trade is just hilarious. Hard pass on this years slew of devices.
@@stevekeiser9963 I dropped my shit while having the pixel case on the CASE survived the phone is litteraly so damaged from the back if it weren't for the case it'd be dripping in glass lmao but I'm not going to repair it because this phone has a lot of memories with me, and honestly for it's lack luster performance (compared to modern phones) I think it would be great for editing tik tok videos which I want to make more of.
I been having all kinds of software issues. Wanted to keep this phone for the duration of the free photos storage lifetime but my 4g randomly stops working daily only fix is to restart phone and just now it will randomly dip volume all the way down and fight me to keep it there. And the lock /power off button not working but double click and camera opens right up.
Got the pixel 4a. Cheaper, no need for 5g really and its very rare. Fits better in my hand, and when you turn off features you don't need the battery lasts 3 days.
@@belllievewalwalforever3215 the camera is excellent. Nightvision on it too btw. And with all unnecessary things turned off (i like tweaking settings), my battery lasts for 3 days! With normal use, phoning, whatsapp, browsing, email etc. Also, still got many more updates to go. And i added the famous nova launcher, which is excellent. If you go for one i would consider a Spigen armor case. Those things saved my phone more times i can count. Also added safety glass against scratches. Just NOT on the lens, it screw up the picture.
It's suprising to me that all the phone reviewers still think that the bigger screen is better. Maybe I'm living in a bubble, but I don't know a single person, who wants a bigger screen. It's always a struggle for everyone I know to find a small screen with proper specs while looking for a new phone, not the other way around.
Nice review, I liked the honest comparisons made between both devices! Surprisingly I JUST learned the Pixel 4 is the fastest out of the whole lineup, with its Snapdragon 865 chipset, although it may suffer shorter battery life if it has a higher than 60hz display. I’ll be watching this channel again.
One thing to consider when buying any google phone is they only update phones for three years from when it was released. The pixel 4 was released in September, 2019 so the clock is already ticking on the updates. It may be worth purchasing the 4A 5G because you will get the full three year's worth of updates.
I have the Pixel 4 and it is a great phone. except the battery, that is drama and only because of that i regret buying it. So i am thinking of selling it and get the 4a 5G instead. The 5 seems overrated in price.

Good quick video but it did skip one stat that was so important that I made by purchase decision based on it: The Pixel 5 has Gorilla Glass 6 and the 4a 5G has Gorilla Glass 3. Since this is the last phone when unlimited photo uploads with a Google, I want this phone to last, so I went Pixel 5
I purchased the Pixel 5 as my secondary device and bought my lady the 4a 5G. Both are great phones and as mentioned offer exactly the same everyday experience. I got the pixel 5 online for £540 and the Pixel 4a 5G for £499. Both phones are great value, offer a clean stock Android experience, decent build and screens, fantastic battery life and of course great cameras. Would highly recommend either.

Watching this on my 4a 5g I got about 2 hours ago. Coming from an iphone 11 pro that I had for a year to try out iphone. The only thing I'll miss is water resistance and face unlock.

4a 5g has a headphone jack and doesn't use the face ID unlock thing - uses fingerprint. I don't actually care about anything else on any phone. Video games? Taking pictures? Watching movies? Just not important for me. Headphone jack, fingerprint scanner. That's why this phone works for me. It makes phone calls and sends texts...why spend more?
Managed to grab the pixel 4a 5g with free Bose QC 35 ii, coming from p20 pro it's taking a while to get used to the different version of Android. I miss the Huawei version of screenshoting but other than that the Google version is sublime
Was due for an upgrade on Verizon. Got a Pixel 5 from Best Buy for only $500. Really wanted waterproofing b/c I have kids. But if the speaker is as bad as everyone says, I might return it and get the 4a 5g.
@@tumult04 I guess it depends on what kind of games you play really. I find it fine, it's just not really pronounced stereo. I think Google could raise the in display speaker volume to balance the sound more. I messed around with the audio balance between left and right and managed to raise the volume of it quite nicely. Only problem was when using headphones, it affected the balance on those too so I couldn't leave it like that. Supposedly there's an update coming soon for the speakers on the Pixel 5 so I'll see what that does.
@@tumult04 just dawned on me you were talking about the refresh rate and not the speakers? If so I apologise, for gaming, certain games will benefit but it's mainly the feel of the whole device that just feels smoother and more fluid with 90hz.
@BadManVic I haven't had any complaints about my voice so far but the under display is very quiet, probably not helped by a glass screen protector but I'm not rocking it naked just for a db of volume 😱

Bro. 1. imported 5a = 560 USD 2. Used 5 = 510 USD 3. 4a 5g = 460 USD 4. 4a = 350 USD please help. all have same chip set and similar camera setup. i need a good battery back up. my work schedule is of 10 to 12hrs
4a5g was a great phone, Im sure both phones have excellent cameras, but mine failed just outside my 1 year warranty, all kinds of 'unfixable' issues because of cheap hardware. Forums online are abundant with users having the same issues. Really wish customer support would have bent the rules and helped me out but I can no longer trust google products after this experience. There's no excuse for a brand new phone to fail so soon.
4a 5g is better overall value, its pretty easy to add wireless charging with an adaptor anyway if you want it, bigger screen, better battery life and $200 less here in Australia makes it the better decision imo
If only every phone reviewer had the common sense instead of being distracted babies that get wowed by color. It's cool if there are options, but if choice is just one color, I'll take black, gray, silver, or white any day than some made up rainbow color.
I had a LG V30 with this splendid "Moroccan Blue" glass on the back. So beautiful that I didn't want to hide it under a decent case. I broke it after a short while, of course. Now, I couldn't care less about the back of a phone, and plastic is more solid than glass anyway.
Why would the 4a5g have better battery life with the larger screen and a smaller battery? Even with adaptive 90hz screen on the Pixel 5, I don't see this causing an issue.
I hit the 4a 5g on sale for 375. No regrets so far. Came from an S9+. The switch was different but this OS is so damn fast. No more bloated galaxy phones with crap Bixby. I miss a few QOL features Samsung has but 500 bucks less is SO worth it.
@@kniceperson I was thinking since the thumb is already in the area, a login would be a convenient thumbprint. I don't mind the rear fingerprint reader, but I hate the times I have to lift the phone off the table or take it off the stand to access the back sensor.

Thinking about buying a 4a 5g, but I'm not sure about the OLED screen. Does it get burn-ins? Coming from home cinema, where you should avoid static images to reduce the risc of burn-ins using an OLED. When you use a smartphone there are static symbols and icon bars... not the ideal situation. 🤔

I think the glaring issue with the 4 and 4xl is the battery, shouldn't this have been a key distinction between the 4a 5g and the 5 versus the 4?? I think this is a miss. Everyone raves about the 4a 5g and 5's battery life while everyone with 4/4xl is frustrated with how short the daily battery life is.
Pixel 2XL owners can get $235 towards the Pixel 4a 5g for black Friday at the Google store.. Imo, $300 after taxes and trade-in is a steal.. Especially when comparing to the Pixel 5, this is no brainer people... O.o
I’ve watched heaps of reviews and both 4a and 4a 5g have been rated as being a really good battery efficient all day device (talking 7am -11pm) with gaming, YT, calls, photos, browsing etc with 15-20% left at bedtime.
if it is imo google limited it for the sake of the pixel 5, tho i do think the 4a 5g should and can also have it. i dont like manufacturers limiting the capability of a phone for the sake of differentiating for the more newer or expensive device. to my knowledge the pixel 4/4 xl even had its 4k60 option removed which is baffling.
Every Reviewer says okay sound, okay camera I have the phone, played with the sound settings, they are really good for a full screen phone, not at all bad, rather much better. Camera is fantastic, even today, You're comparing Pixels to Iphones, where you forget the price difference between them. In my country a Pixel 5 costs 600 bucks and Iphone 12 mini 64GB costs 786 bucks. Now u know the difference. Oh btw, the Pixel 5 doesnt feel cheap, it feels ****** great! such a weird good feeling, yet it doesnt slip from hand. All these kinda reviews are just from a week or a Month max usage. The uniform bezels are by themselves enough for me to prefer the 4a vastly over the 5. I've always hated when phones' foreheads and chins are different sizes from each other.
Do not get the Pixel 4 XL. I've had nothing, but troubles with that phone. Went through three RMA, and my phone still acts up. Pixel 5 is definitely the better option since that's what you've asked.

My experience exactly. TMobile has slower speeds on SA vs NSA, but SA provides less latency and better overall coverage.

I had the same complaint :). But google's gallery app sorted it for me. I use it instead of the photos app.

Nice review, I liked the honest comparisons made between both devices! Surprisingly I JUST learned the Pixel 4 is the fastest out of the whole lineup, with its Snapdragon 865 chipset, although it may suffer shorter battery life if it has a higher than 60hz display. I’ll be watching this channel again.
One thing to consider when buying any google phone is they only update phones for three years from when it was released. The pixel 4 was released in September, 2019 so the clock is already ticking on the updates. It may be worth purchasing the 4A 5G because you will get the full three year's worth of updates.
the pixel 4 series had 6gb of ram and a Snapdragon 855 SOC, not the newer 865.
I tried using pixel 4 for a month and the battery was really a pain.. couldn't complete a half day..traded in for a 4a 5g and day and night difference

I have the Pixel 4 and it is a great phone. except the battery, that is drama and only because of that i regret buying it. So i am thinking of selling it and get the 4a 5G instead. The 5 seems overrated in price.
If you buy it from the Google store they are giving $300 trade in for a pixel 4.

I had bought 2 Pixel wireless docks for the Pixels 3XL and 4XL. So having wireless charging was a must for me.
just get the 4A 5G, most stuff the same, it has a bigger screen, the only thing u want the 5g for is the higher refresh rate or waterproofness
Good quick video but it did skip one stat that was so important that I made by purchase decision based on it: The Pixel 5 has Gorilla Glass 6 and the 4a 5G has Gorilla Glass 3. Since this is the last phone when unlimited photo uploads with a Google, I want this phone to last, so I went Pixel 5

I purchased the Pixel 5 as my secondary device and bought my lady the 4a 5G. Both are great phones and as mentioned offer exactly the same everyday experience. I got the pixel 5 online for £540 and the Pixel 4a 5G for £499. Both phones are great value, offer a clean stock Android experience, decent build and screens, fantastic battery life and of course great cameras. Would highly recommend either.

Watching this on my 4a 5g I got about 2 hours ago. Coming from an iphone 11 pro that I had for a year to try out iphone. The only thing I'll miss is water resistance and face unlock.

4a 5g has a headphone jack and doesn't use the face ID unlock thing - uses fingerprint.
I don't actually care about anything else on any phone. Video games? Taking pictures? Watching movies? Just not important for me.
Headphone jack, fingerprint scanner. That's why this phone works for me. It makes phone calls and sends texts...why spend more?

Managed to grab the pixel 4a 5g with free Bose QC 35 ii, coming from p20 pro it's taking a while to get used to the different version of Android. I miss the Huawei version of screenshoting but other than that the Google version is sublime
Was due for an upgrade on Verizon. Got a Pixel 5 from Best Buy for only $500. Really wanted waterproofing b/c I have kids. But if the speaker is as bad as everyone says, I might return it and get the 4a 5g.
It's not terrible, for calls it's fine, for videos it's just not really stereo. That 90hz display is lovely though 😍

@@tumult04 I guess it depends on what kind of games you play really. I find it fine, it's just not really pronounced stereo. I think Google could raise the in display speaker volume to balance the sound more. I messed around with the audio balance between left and right and managed to raise the volume of it quite nicely. Only problem was when using headphones, it affected the balance on those too so I couldn't leave it like that. Supposedly there's an update coming soon for the speakers on the Pixel 5 so I'll see what that does.
@@tumult04 just dawned on me you were talking about the refresh rate and not the speakers? If so I apologise, for gaming, certain games will benefit but it's mainly the feel of the whole device that just feels smoother and more fluid with 90hz.
@BadManVic I haven't had any complaints about my voice so far but the under display is very quiet, probably not helped by a glass screen protector but I'm not rocking it naked just for a db of volume 😱

i orderd one of these for work after returning my iphone 12 think mine was a pixel 5g
4a5g was a great phone, Im sure both phones have excellent cameras, but mine failed just outside my 1 year warranty, all kinds of 'unfixable' issues because of cheap hardware. Forums online are abundant with users having the same issues. Really wish customer support would have bent the rules and helped me out but I can no longer trust google products after this experience. There's no excuse for a brand new phone to fail so soon.
I have to disagree, Pixel 5 felt cheap compared to 4a 5G. I played it at best buy.

4a 5g is better overall value, its pretty easy to add wireless charging with an adaptor anyway if you want it, bigger screen, better battery life and $200 less here in Australia makes it the better decision imo

You can also put a case of the color of your choice on your devices to get exactly the color you crave.
If only every phone reviewer had the common sense instead of being distracted babies that get wowed by color. It's cool if there are options, but if choice is just one color, I'll take black, gray, silver, or white any day than some made up rainbow color.
I had a LG V30 with this splendid "Moroccan Blue" glass on the back. So beautiful that I didn't want to hide it under a decent case. I broke it after a short while, of course. Now, I couldn't care less about the back of a phone, and plastic is more solid than glass anyway.

Why would the 4a5g have better battery life with the larger screen and a smaller battery? Even with adaptive 90hz screen on the Pixel 5, I don't see this causing an issue.

I hit the 4a 5g on sale for 375. No regrets so far. Came from an S9+. The switch was different but this OS is so damn fast. No more bloated galaxy phones with crap Bixby. I miss a few QOL features Samsung has but 500 bucks less is SO worth it.

Thinking about buying a 4a 5g, but I'm not sure about the OLED screen. Does it get burn-ins? Coming from home cinema, where you should avoid static images to reduce the risc of burn-ins using an OLED. When you use a smartphone there are static symbols and icon bars... not the ideal situation. 🤔

I think the glaring issue with the 4 and 4xl is the battery, shouldn't this have been a key distinction between the 4a 5g and the 5 versus the 4?? I think this is a miss. Everyone raves about the 4a 5g and 5's battery life while everyone with 4/4xl is frustrated with how short the daily battery life is.
Pixel 2XL owners can get $235 towards the Pixel 4a 5g for black Friday at the Google store.. Imo, $300 after taxes and trade-in is a steal.. Especially when comparing to the Pixel 5, this is no brainer people... O.o

I’ve watched heaps of reviews and both 4a and 4a 5g have been rated as being a really good battery efficient all day device (talking 7am -11pm) with gaming, YT, calls, photos, browsing etc with 15-20% left at bedtime.

I have the phone, played with the sound settings, they are really good for a full screen phone, not at all bad, rather much better. Camera is fantastic, even today, You're comparing Pixels to Iphones, where you forget the price difference between them. In my country a Pixel 5 costs 600 bucks and Iphone 12 mini 64GB costs 786 bucks. Now u know the difference.
Oh btw, the Pixel 5 doesnt feel cheap, it feels ****** great! such a weird good feeling, yet it doesnt slip from hand.

The uniform bezels are by themselves enough for me to prefer the 4a vastly over the 5. I've always hated when phones' foreheads and chins are different sizes from each other.
