    A tip for measuring: please do not place the microphone on a cushion, as this distorts or absorbs too many frequencies. Please use a tripod... for example a foto tripod, they already have the right screw on top for mounting the mic. these are available at ama*on from €10. Incidentally, I have been a very, very satisfied user of Audyssey Evo since day one. This achieves the same sound fidelity as the expensive Trinnov preamps. Enjoy listening! Best wishes from the Austrian Alps, Simon

      If you go a microphone boom mic stand, some screw adapter's from Amazon its even better...

    • @mrmrgaming
      @mrmrgaming หลายเดือนก่อน

      These were my thoughts, but then I figured if a human is sat there, they would absorb them the same, so pillows would be a way of simulating a human form. The other reason is that, like mine, I have a leather couch, which will reflect VS a cloth couch. If I don't simulate a body, the readings will be way off due to bounce.
      I guess if you have time, you can do it twice and see which sounds better.

    • @stevenlawrence2232
      @stevenlawrence2232 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Eq-ing a system at the listening position correctly does not include a human being in that position., just a microphone. For the sake of you all avoiding a lot of frustration (like I had frankly) and getting as accurate a reading at the listening position as possible for your given equipment - a boom mic stand will give 100% better results than no stand and about 40% better than a camera tripod (myself having used a tripod for years before trying it out).
      Blankets over high backed couches are a good idea, as is blocking the ports on your speakers (all of them) if you have a good sub and a small room. You might also have a look at the simplehomecinema manuals. They are great and have a lot of thought put into them.

    I have preferred A1 Evo over Multeq-X. When Multeq-X is tweaked it actually is very good but Evo seems to have the advantage in timing and volume matching making the surround bubble and object placement better. To my ears music sounds similar. This is with Multeq-x using the newer limit smoothed option which aims to EQ above a set transition point (1K for me) with smoothing filters in place so it's making less detrimental EQ above that point. Have you tried Nexus yet? I'm hesitant to put in the time/effort when Evo sounds so good.

      @mauriciob8260 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      in my case I prefer the directional mode on my Denon 3800X I have 4 subs that are place in every for corner of my media room and compare it with standard bass the directional mode sound way better , bass is more punchy , voice are crisp and detail and the immersion of the surround is more vivid . The standard mode with Evo 1 scrip sound very good also but I prefer the sound more crystal with plenty of bass

    • @KevisFilms
      @KevisFilms  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I agree with @mauriciob8260 with the results. Also, I went back to REW and studied the frequency response of A1 and EVO and they were overall similar. EVO had better summation (not by much) around the 60-70 ish hz region which usually is a problem area (nulls) in my space. I used the latest EVO target curve which was also more aggressive in the low end than the Floyd Toole curve from A1.

      @@mauriciob8260 I have four subs connected to my AV10 using minidsp 2x4 hd. I'm planning to get rid of minidsp and just connect my subs directly to my AV10 as it already has 4 independent sub outs but I'm not sure how A1 would time align them .

    • @gbye007
      @gbye007 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      OCAs script calculates best delays for multiple subs and then converts back to Standard bass mode where all subs get same signal, which is best for bass response across multiple seats. The reason for measuring in Directional mode is to get the measurements for each sub so that they can be time aligned for best response as a combined unit. BTW time aligned doesn't mean that they are phase aligned at all - not for sub frequencies.

    also in rew under eq tab, the bass management cutoff is defaulted to 80hz and lF cutoff is 10hz. i noticed OCA left it there, but you have it at 250 and 12, respectively. Does it matter?

    For whatever reason, REW won't allow me to load more than SLA5 for measurement files. I drag all my files over and drop them onto the UI, it begins loading them, then it gives me a "No free positions" prompt and says I can either save them and lose C0, delete it, or cancel and not load all the files from that point on (e.g. SLA6 and beyond). I removed my minidsp. AVR out to each subwoofer, then use directional bass for room measurements. From there I let EVO do the work. It does a great job adjusting and making both subs work well together (assuming they are place properly).
