Movie was quite ahead of time. Non stop streaming over the top fake personalities, reality TV in people's homes. Commercial products snuck in.. sigh to bad we never head such warnings ha, not real life if monitored. We are so connected we are disconnected now.
The Truman Show is one of my favorite movies ever. Not a lot of TH-camrs react to it so thank you. I suggest rewatching it and watching the deleted scenes. You notice so much stuff the second time around.
If you have the chance, rewatch the scene where Sylvia calls Christof, and pause it to take a closer look at her apartment, especially her bulletin board. She’s clearly part of an activist movement trying to liberate Truman, and they’re trying to infiltrate and recruit the cast and crew to that movement. I think all the “mistakes” (the set light falling near him, the rain falling just on him, the radio playing the backstage channel, and possibly even that cop calling him by name) are acts of sabotage by members of the movement.
You popped up in my suggested videos and now I'm a subscriber 😊 this reaction was fun! The way everyone gaslights Truman throughout the movie makes me SO angry. Anyone would eventually go crazy under those conditions!
Some really good Jim Carey movies are Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Fun with Dick and Jane, A Series of Unfortunate Events, and Bruce Almighty.
