On the arch in the backckground @7:28, you see the Latin phrase "Unus pro omnibus, omnes pro uno", which means, "One for all, all for one". This describes The Truman Show itself.
24:13 So. Many. Choices. theme of the movie right there - free will Esp love the "I am the creator" guy at the end playing at being God and seeking to keep Truman trapped, while Sylvia is, literally, praying to the real God to help him be free. One of my favorite movies ever. Great to see you reacting to it. Thanks for posting.
The light that falls out the sky and hits the ground near Truman at the beginning of the movie is labeled "Sirius 9 (Canis Major)". Sirius is the brightest star in the sky, and is found in the constellation Canis Major. One of the stars that Truman can see at night literally falls out of the sky (detaches from the dome) and hits the ground. This is our first indication that Truman's world is not what it seems. The producers of the Truman Show follows this up with a fake story in the news about an aircraft shedding parts, in order to give Truman a plausible explanation as to where the light came from.
I reeeeally appreciate how you pause the movie when you have something to say about it. So many reactors just talk over the dialog and end up missing out on lots of important plot info.. Nice reaction! 😊
Crossed fingers are a sort of superstition that it invalidates a promise or vow. Since Meryl crossed her fingers during the wedding picture, she tried to invalidate it which causes Truman to question who she is and what she does during the day when she 'goes to work'.
I totally get why you thought it was all gonna be part of the Creator’s master plan, but I actually loved the idea that Truman unintentionally gives audiences the best possible finale the show could ever hope for. His efforts to stop being used for entertainment make him the MOST entertaining he’s ever been. And the Creator is so blinded by his own narrow vision that he can’t even recognize that fact.
This film was made when reality TV was in it's infancy. There was only like Big Brother I think. It was a prediction and a warning about how far out of hand this shit could get. We're actually getting closer every day and while this might seem impossible, I'm not so sure it will always be. It's scary. Love this film, watch it again sometime, you'll catch all the things you miss the first time. Great reaction. ✌❤
@taniaPBear yeah i think you must take that into account to really appreciate this film. It's insane how this movie practically predates the reality show genre. It's crazy
@@Square-ow7oq Agreed. I saw it on release and loved it, but it seemed like such a fantasy concept then. Only later did we realise how eerily prophetic it was.
When this was released, the ad campaign for the show spoiled every surprise in the movie. They gave away the premise in the previews. So, I’ll never know how long it would have taken me to ‘get’ it. This young generation just has no clue what it’s about and are watching it totally cold. I was a bit disappointed he even read that little blurb at the first, partially giving away the plot. You aren’t really supposed to ‘get’ it until the big reveal, the talk show, the picture of the giant dome and the interview with Christof. So most of the people watching this have seen the trailer, which spoils the entire movie. This guy did great by giving us a real reaction.
I watched this movie when it came out, I watched it, a space cake and a spliff deep. The only way to watch movies for the first time. This isn't a comedy it's a horror.
One of my all time favorite movies. You don't even realize you're watching a Jim Carrey movie. He should've been nominated for an Oscar for it as well. Beautiful heartwarming historical fiction. Loved Truman Show too. Was very glad they nominated him for it, he deserved it.
"Falling stars", "Nasa as theater", "knowing Truman even in the womb", with the "greatest creator of the world", the director "Christ-of", a domed environment / firmament, the stairs of ascension to meet "The Creator".
Something "like" this happened in Japan. I watched a doc on it a few years ago and there is a new one called The Contestant "Aspiring comedian Tomoaki Hamatsu, nicknamed Nasubi, unwittingly becomes an extreme case study on a Japanese reality TV show."
I always felt sorry for Marlon in this. Yes he knew it was fake, but to him, it wasn't. If she's bene Trumans' best friend since elementary school, then his parents signed him up for this, and for him, even though it's fake, it's also been the only life he's ever known. That has to be traumatic. And I'm sure it reeked havoc on his own ability to trust anyone.
I think you set yourself up for confusion through most of the movie when you mistakenly decided in the first 5 minutes that Truman was aware of the cameras and a willing participant when he talked to himself in the bathroom mirror. On a side note, Truman's zany behavior was just Jim Carey being Jim Carey. Exaggerated expressions and mannerisms have been his thing for 4 decades.
I agree that your "twist" would have been kind of cool! 🙂 Great reaction to a great film whose premise doesn't seem _that_ far-fetched! Edit: By the way, another "cerebral" film featuring Carrey in a more dramatic role is "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind", also starring Kate Winslet. If you haven't seen it, I _absolutely_ recommend it!
die hard coming today or tomorrow
"We accept the reality of the world in which we are presented."
- more true than people realize.

Her fingers were crossed in the picture from her wedding. It's used kinda like "just kidding"

1:18 This film debuted one year before the start of the _Big Brother_ franchise.

There wasn't even Big Brother yet. You are thinking of The Real World. Big brother came out a year after this movie
@@Square-ow7oq Yeah, sorry, you're right. Wow, that makes it even more amazing doesn't it?

Many layers of metaphors in this brilliant film.
It's so cool to watch someone react to this without being spoiled before, you took it all in, your smile your dubiousness was great!
I've never seen someone have such a hard time grasping this premise! It was painful to watch 🤣

The Majestic is another good movie that shows his more serious side.

"Golden Globes" award on one of the most heavily space-coded movies ever created.

You should've stuck it out for another three minutes, brother. Don't sell our man SalvoG short.

Check out the story of comedian Tomoaki Hamatsu, nicknamed Nasubi who "unwittingly becomes an extreme case study on a Japanese reality TV show."
