I gotta say, nothing beats watching a movie while sipping on a nice hot Mococoa drink. It has all natural cocoa beans from the upper slopes of Mount Nicaragua and no artificial sweeteners!
17:07 when Marlin is “stocking” the candy in the vending machine, you see him actually take some out then put them back in This movie was so ahead of its time in so many ways lol Jim Carrey is *chef’s kiss*
45:52 Yes!! When you rewatch it, pause during the talk show scene and really take a close look at everything in Sylvia’s apartment. She is angry, too, and she’s not alone!
I am glad that you saw the weird aspects of the premise from the start. The actress-wife is in fact living a life on screen as well (no time to live outside). And you rightfully pointed out that, besides the creator and crew, the audience is the real villain here.
The symbolism of this movie is one of my favorite: Truman taking vitamin D for breakfast ('cause he's deficient due to the lack of real sunlight), the cross on the door during the "I'll cross my fingers to you" scene enhancing the sense of imprisonment, the magnifying glass having an unusual square shape (like a TV) during the photo-book scene, the names (Christoph aka Christ/ God / the creator, Truman aka the only true man in that fake world)... also the detail of the travel agent actress who had a napkin around her neck (she wasn't expecting to see Truman and was probably on her lunch break)
Jim Carey proved he can do more than comedy. You should add Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind in one of your Polls, such a amazing brilliant movie like this one which Jim starred in because of this film.
26:52 He’s really good. He is FANTASTIC in The Americans, and for anyone who’s seen The Truman Show-Noah Emmerich’s role, let’s just say that the shoe is on the other foot in The Americans (that’s not a spoiler, it’s the theme of the show). It’s an incredible show in general, Emmy winning.
@@OfficialDNJmoviehouse Oh, please do-hardly any reactors have done it yet! And if there’s any doubt in your mind about whether it’s worth watching, read the Reception section of its Wikipedia page 🙂
48:47 omg if you do watch The Americans, please come back after the finale to The Truman Show and get a laugh about your comments here about Emmerich’s character 🙂
I feel like your rating can go up if you watch it again, multiple times. There’s so many details that will make even more sense after you know the premise to it all.
@@OfficialDNJmoviehouse Please record your reaction to the rewatch! That would be really fun. And remember to pause and really look closely at Sylvia’s apartment. 🙂
@@tamarleigh We would have to go about that a little differently, since I don't believe most people would see that as a reaction video. Who knows, maybe in the future! But for sure if/when we watch it again we will make sure to look at her apartment!
Head. Canon : there's a core group of fans who were disillusioned when Christoff's promise of. realism, no scripts became. episode arcs. Their interest reignited when he began waking up to his world. They cheer when he finds freedom. Sylvia is living somewhere in Los Angeles. Thank you for noting the very land locked dome! Too many reactors are startled when he crashes into the wall!!
Nice reaction to a great movie. Hey...did you know everyone is watching you right now on this channel called DNJ Movie House? How do you know you aren't a pair of Truman experiments? 😄
@@mikekay3313 i asked Jane what she thought and she doesnt know about being an experiment, and then she recommended we replace our old lawn mower with a newer elk rotary.
I saw this one in the theater as a teen. Glad you enjoyed it. Truman = True Man (the only one not performing) Christoff the Creator is very similar to Christ in the Christian religion Christoff giving few interviews bc he "values his privacy" yet he gives Truman no privacy at all. These are little things I didn't even notice on my first few watches.
Those were great, the 3rd one especially! For how little screen time he gets, Christoff is such a great villian. This is a movie we going to rewatch multiple times it's so good. Thanks for commenting!
If you haven't seen it before, Pleasantville is a really good movie and shares a lot of vibes with Truman Show. I love to rewatch both movies back to back nearly every year ❤
Pleasantville came out almost the same time as the Truman Show, and a lot of people conflated them, but its very much its own movie. Its also VERY much worth watching.

What the hell are you talking about?! Who are you talking to?
The show's been on for around 10.000 days, so that's almost 28.5 years. That is also his age when he gets out.
Almost as long as it's been since this movie came out in '98!

I wonder how many of us would tune in to a show like that if it were real
This was a good reaction video. Well edited and all. Greetings from Iceland.
Greetings and thank you very much!
It's so interesting how ahead of it's time this story was.
I agree 100%!

Those are all great! To me Truman and Sylvia have some similarities to Adam and Eve.
I think the napkin could also have been because she was hurriedly getting makeup applied after he came in.

This was Jim Carrey’s biggest and most popular dramatic movie
I believe this is the first non-comedy we've seen him in.
He has a tiny earpiece like Impractical Jokers.
you are both awesome, love from Greece!
