The second part to pillows and blankets is my favourite episode of the entire series. I was really partial to the stylised episodes and that one was just so good. And the story I heard behind it, that Harmon was told they were going over budget by shooting elaborate episodes, so they decided to make an episode composed almost entirely of photos… That’s really funny.
this is so well made, clearly a lot of time and love was put into it. so many retrospectives just do a synopsis of every episode one by one and aren't engaging at all, but the way you edit and jump around to each important story beat when it's most relevant is so good. usually when someone says to subscribe at the beginning of the video i scoff like "prove it first," but you definitely proved it
I watch this video all the time, it's my favorite background sound, and I've been resisting the urge to "well actually" ever since it came out but I can fight it no longer. Britta doesn't move in with Troy and Abed in Season 3. Troy moves into the spare room that was the dreamatorium, symbolic of him growing up and becoming more of a man after his experiences in the air conditioner repair school.

I’m so glad you said Frankie is one of the best new parts of Season 6; after watching the show all the way through for the first time, I was so confused why I saw some people online saying Frankie ruined the show. Since then, I’ve come to learn that the sentiment was only really shared by basement dwellers and people who hate women.
i understand why this video is so long, but every minute is important and packed with information. honestly thanks to this i can rewatch the show with a renewed appreciation
Excellent video! This series is one of the rare shows that I rewatch because it’s done with such quality content, great humor, and character development. That last episode always make me shed tears.. it reminds me that through life there are transitions and you won’t remain close to people you once greatly cared about or whom were a huge part of your life 😢
I love community. I will never not love it. It’s genius. However my only criticism is WHY THE HELL DID THEY PAIR JEFF WITH ANNIE?! It was already there that Annie liked Troy, and Jeff liked Britta, why change it to something so much creepier. I think the only reason they get away with it is because of their charisma. But it’s a very dangerous trope, especially for the young impressionable people watching back home. This show made me think an age gap that big was okay. I was 17 going on 18. I ended up getting into some really dangerous situations because I thought it was okay. I wish they dived in more to why it was a creepy relationship. Unfortunately I feel like the writers saw no problems with it
Sorry but I don't think the show needed to educate people on that. Still, the relationship between them is never portrayed as something okay, is always creepy/judged
They very clearly thought it was wrong. Yes, fans shipped them heavily, but the show itself kept pointing out how wrong it was. I’m sorry you went through some hard times relationship wise, but you shouldn’t be blaming the show for your bad judgment.
@@noorieboorie idk I feel like if the writers did a better job at making it weird then it wouldn’t have been shipped so much by the younger impressionable fans
I think most of the characters’ relationships are a little creepy based off their age gaps: in season 1 Annie is 18, Troy is 19, Britta is 28, and Jeff is 36 (give or take a year). So yeah, people call foul on the 18-year-age-gap between Annie and Jeff, but there’s also an 8-year-age-gap between Jeff and Britta, and a 9-year-age-gap between Britta and Troy. Technically, if you do the whole “half your age +7 is the minimum age of somebody you can date” then factor in the age of the characters when they hook up, Britta and Jeff are pretty safe, Troy is barely old enough to be with Britta, and Jeff is fully in “too old” territory, but all three relationships are straining under some big age gaps.
I can’t even imagine the time and effort that went into writing, compiling and editing this video 🤷. Absolutely stellar work … You brought me back to a really happy place on a rainy Sunday morning in Scotland. Thanks so much 🫶. This truly was the greatest timeline 🥰

I really liked intro to felt surrogacy. Specifically the music. Both the first and the last songs always stick with me a while after each rewatch. The first one is very catchy and the last one is touching despite being funny. Both Pierce's and Troy's solos always hit pretty hard.
I really enjoyed your video, in fact, when Troy goes off on Zach Braff, I did not get the joke that Donald Glover was parroting what his detractors were saying about him leaving Community...Genius! Thank you
This is so incredibly well-done!!! Thank you for putting this all together. I can't imagine how long this took but I'm glad I subscribed a few months ago to find this in my sub feed. Community is truly a beloved, classic show for me at this point - and for many others. Its legacy is so interesting and weird (I thought I knew everything but you taught me a couple of things!) and I love that it's been getting its flowers in recent years. Hopefully the movie lives up to this legacy!
I absolutely love Matt Berry in S6 but Im eternally saddened it was before his role in WWDITS solely because I really wanna hear him respond to Brittas "I lived in New York City!" with a Lazlo line read lmao
I just wanna say thank you. for making this. One of my all time fav shows and its wonderful to sit here on a sunday and speed run through the entire series via your retospective. Thank you.
“Community” is not only a sitcom, it’s a commentary on the genre itself. Apart from the meta elements, it also has plenty of sci-elements like alternate timelines, creating “cloud babies”, etc., & ofc plenty of pop culture references & homages. It parodies a few tropes but most of it are homages.
You were right on the nose about the importance of the chicken finger episode because that was the episode that came to mind when you first showed Dan Harmon's plot structure wheel. While it wasn't a "perfect episode" or even my favorite, but it perfectly represented the formula of the show and why it worked
Shocked you didn’t mention the gag is season 5 when they mention Zach Braff only being in the first 6 episodes of season 9 of scrubs and Troy says “that son of a bitch, after everything scrubs did for him”, then Troy left season 5 after the first 6 episodes
Today I learned Dino Stamatopolous, the creator of Moral Orel was a reoccurring character in community. It's amazing that he also worked in making the stop motion Christmas episode, I gotta go back and watch it.
Great retrospective! I watched your Star Wars video a while back and when this video popped up on my TH-cam main page, I put it on immediately. I binged all six seasons of Community on Netflix at the beginning of lockdown and I loved it. Thank you for covering it.
I love Community so I'm excited for such a lengthy retrospective. I think season 4 is honestly underrated but it still makes me sad that we didn't have a true Harmon led season when all the study group were still there. Update: Just finished it, great video man. This is how you do a retrospective. Highlighting all the creative minds involved with a nice touch.

Unfortunately I feel like the writers saw no problems with it
Jeff and Britta had a chemistry that didn’t exist between Jeff and Annie.
I would love a retrospective for Always Sunny In Philadelphia! It has so much history that could be awesome to explore. Love the work!
And Megan Ganz is a brilliant writer on both!
Dean Pelton is one of the funniest secondary characters ever. That actor was also very funny as Fenton on That 70s Show.
"Hah, gayyyyy" so iconic I started quoting it before I even knew what Community was lmao
Still making my way through the MCU retrospective. Made it through TDKR trilogy videos and now I have this one to look forward to. Just wanted to thank you so much for all your hard work and let you know that you are a staple in my morning routine (have you playing in the background all throughout) and a staple for whenever I make long car rides. Keep up the amazing work!!!!
I love this show so much. I started watching it as an early teen with my older cousins, and now I'm literally 30 years old, married, and have a kid, and i could rewatch any episode from any season right this second. Fundamentally underrated show
Not many can make hours fly by like the Retrospective King Prime, thanks for covering one of my personal favourites! Much love bro ❤
im a younger viewer who didn’t watch the show as it aired, and it’s really nice to hear about the advertising and the buzz around community as it was coming out!!
I watch community almost every night and fall asleep to it like it’s my girl lol. This is like the third time I’ve put this on before bed. Thank you my friend.
I can give your video no higher compliment than it made me laugh so hard I had to stop it halfway through and start rewatching Community again. Well done!!
Just wanna say, thank you for all the retrospective videos ❤❤
Don't know if it has been commented but for all the Potterheads out there; Magnitude is played by Luke Youngblood aka Lee Jordan, The Weasley Twins best friend
Omg yes he is the one who does quidditch commentaries 😮😮😮
banger video dude
you can really tell all the work you put on it
it was also dope to see all the comercials and all the content thats gets lost in the tv to streaming transition
This was a beautifully put together retrospective. Thank you.
I really liked intro to felt surrogacy. Specifically the music. Both the first and the last songs always stick with me a while after each rewatch. The first one is very catchy and the last one is touching despite being funny. Both Pierce's and Troy's solos always hit pretty hard.
I always enjoyed it and that last song is terrific. And the puppets look terrific from a technical standpoint.
Finally a community retrospective. The goat never fails
I really enjoyed your video, in fact, when Troy goes off on Zach Braff, I did not get the joke that Donald Glover was parroting what his detractors were saying about him leaving Community...Genius! Thank you
choosing Garrett to sing Ave Maria at the wake is still my favourite thing in Community
There were several misanalyzed portions of what I did see but wow. This is a lot of work. Have to give props to you for this video.
RICHARD AYOADE DIRECTED THE MY DINNER WITH ANDRE EPISODE?!?! HOW DID I NOT KNOW THIS?!
That episode made me look up the movie for the first time. Now I always watch it alongside Pulp Fiction. Love this show!
I was a high school senior in 2009 in this show got me so pumped for community college the next year
I absolutely love Matt Berry in S6 but Im eternally saddened it was before his role in WWDITS solely because I really wanna hear him respond to Brittas "I lived in New York City!" with a Lazlo line read lmao
What a great video dude ,great work ,I’m so glad I found your channel
I just wanna say thank you. for making this. One of my all time fav shows and its wonderful to sit here on a sunday and speed run through the entire series via your retospective. Thank you.
“Community” is not only a sitcom, it’s a commentary on the genre itself. Apart from the meta elements, it also has plenty of sci-elements like alternate timelines, creating “cloud babies”, etc., & ofc plenty of pop culture references & homages. It parodies a few tropes but most of it are homages.
No wonder Dan Harmon went on to create “Rick & Morty”.
Wow! I’ve been watching this for 2 hours. Guess it’s a really good video
You were right on the nose about the importance of the chicken finger episode because that was the episode that came to mind when you first showed Dan Harmon's plot structure wheel. While it wasn't a "perfect episode" or even my favorite, but it perfectly represented the formula of the show and why it worked
I watched it when it was on the air. It’s such a great show. I’m sharing it with my 16 year old son now and looking forward to #andamovie
Thanks for this retrospective. This is one of my favorite shows of all time. I watch it alt least once a year.
Not the retrospective we wanted but definitely what we needed
Shocked you didn’t mention the gag is season 5 when they mention Zach Braff only being in the first 6 episodes of season 9 of scrubs and Troy says “that son of a bitch, after everything scrubs did for him”, then Troy left season 5 after the first 6 episodes
Umm actually, exactly that clip was shown in this video, mentioning it as a jab at Scrubs and Donald Glover leaving Community in season 5. @ 2:40:00
@@CoiN82when people do a "you forgot this!" Comment that were either not paying attention or posted before the end drive me insane.
Wow, what a retrospective! A lot of hard work went into it. I enjoyed it. Thank you!
this is the best video ever created i cant express how happy i am to watch this i will watch this every single day forever
Today I learned Dino Stamatopolous, the creator of Moral Orel was a reoccurring character in community. It's amazing that he also worked in making the stop motion Christmas episode, I gotta go back and watch it.
Amazing video dude, I love this show and I really appreciate it when people creatively analyze it well done 👍
When Abed makes his first film and his dad cries, I cry everytime
Love the way you do these! Thanks so much for honoring my favorite show of this entire century!
FINE...I'll go watch it again.
Prime is back with another absolute banger, I absolutely love these videos. You deserve much more recognition
Man I appreciate this video so much I’ve watched this show countless times and there’s still so much extra context u provided ahaha
