Mark Knopfler is the master of subtle, understated guitar work. He never overpowers a song. He never demands attention with his mastery of the art. He plays in such a way the guitar becomes an integral part of the whole song. Pure art craft. I never recognized how good he is until I learned to play guitar myself.
There is no better way to describe him!!!

I always wonder when listening to songs like this what the fook was going thru knopflers mind when writing/composing this, it's a love song about 2 people getting married but turns into a rock song with a guitar solo ending but then it doesn't stop there as the piano closes the song down leaving you thinking WTF I have just listened to, the man's just a genius, it's a sad fact that he'll only be seriously recognised when he's dead 👴🏼 🎸 he will always be the number 🥇 in my book end of 👏

Matt Rollings piano is magical
I first heard this song on a slideshow video for my grandparent’s 40th wedding anniversary that I first saw when I was 8 years old. Grew up with the Dire Straits music since my parents were kids in the 70’s and teens in the 80’s, but at that time had NO idea whom Mark Knopfler and Emmylou Harris were. My grandparent’s 55th wedding anniversary was coming up this year.
I am now 23 years old, and my grandma has now died and this was part of the memorial slideshow.
RIP Grammy, love ya forever and always.

Mark’s guitar playing is as unique as Peter Gabriel’s voice or John Entwistle’s bass. You immediately identify with it emotionally. You just can’t replicate it

Mark's subtile rhythm-work is so relaxed yet it is f*cking groovy. Emmylou's cool melancholic vocals make me cry. The guitar solo is from outa space. And the way the piano overtakes in the end - this is killing me! What a great, great song, folks!

Das Klavier am Ende und Marks Gitarre ist unbeschreiblich gut gemacht, Mark bleibt im Hintergrund mit der Gitarre drängt sich nicht vor, und trotzdem hört man jeden Ton, ER betont damit das Klavier noch mehr, die eingeschoben Gitarrenrips sind endgeil, und das Klavier is Heaven!!Mark legt einfach Wert auf Sound, Akustik und trotzdem bleibt seine Gitarre immer zu hören, mal drängend und fordernd, mal leise und zurückhaltend, mal laut und trotzdem einfühlsam (Mark ist und bleibt einer der besten Gitarristen der Welt, für mich ist Er die Nummer 1, gleichwertig halte ich noch Eric Clapton (wobei Mark immer sagt Eric ist der beste Gitarrist und Eric sagt es von Mark (Sind halt auch Freunde) und Mark hat auch endgeile Texte und schreibt super Filmmusik (Local Hero, Last Exit to Brooklyn, Altamira, Princess of Bride, usw HIER seine Hits alle aufzuzählen wäre schon ein mega Programm, und ich durfte Mark mit BAND mehr als 14 mal live sehen und Dire Straits auch 6 mal, und ich denke Er geht nochmals auf Tour, aber keine Welt Tour sondern maximal Europa denn neue Songs sind in der Pipeline und Mark kann nicht ohne Live zu spielen (hat Er auch 2019 in der Schleyerhalle Stuttgart gesagt, Er gab bekannt, ER muss einfach live spielen ohne das geht es nicht (Quasi der Rücktritt vom Rücktritt, deshalb Hoffnung haben, vielleicht gibt es nochmal die Chance Mark Knopfler live zu sehen!!?

I was fortunate to live in Austin, Texas in the 80's and 90's. I used to see Emmylou sing every chance I got. Her grace and voice are still amazing. This is such a great pairing with Mark. By the way, the drummer is badass.

@@StevenQ74that is Right, is Danny Cummings and he is after Dire Straits Ära, his Drummer, at the last Tour Dire Straits Danny Cummings play Percussion and the Drummer are Chris Whitten He was a Hard Drummer and with Danny Cummings at the Percussion the Sound was outstandig, after Dire Straits are end the Tour and Mark goes alone at Tour with Band (the Drummer allways are Danny Cummings Guy Fletcher are Keyboards)

Beautifully sung, beautifully played (I'd expect nothing less from Emmy and Mark), drumming outstanding, piano sublime, acoustic guitar sensational, in fact an outstanding performance from a stage full of supreme talent. What an absolute gem of a performance. Love the video production too. I never tire of hearing and watching this.

Iv been a fan of MK since 77 his music basically reminds me of my life I play his stuff everyday he is so modest like all good Glasgow guys ( he was born in Glasgow so he is Scottish with a Geordie accent)
He will only given the credit he deserves as a modern day musical genius best guitar player ever when he is gone a modern day Mozart he writes composes plays and sings every single song he has done there is no one like him and never will be again

Fucking unbelievable. Saw Dire Straits at the old Cleveland Agora. They were the warm-up for the local MICHAEL STANLEY BAND. Who were good, but never went national. But Dire Straits played Wembley,etc. to 100,000 crowds. Fuck they were awesome!!! Their opening was incredible.
