    @Rigby's Pool Service: Great install . I used it to install my BD pool pump. Could you provide a link or a model number for the electric twist lock you used to provide the power to the pump? I like to bring in my pump during winter and having that twist lock is very convenient. Thanks.

      Depends on your setup and plug type but something like this may work-

    Does wiring direction matter? Just finished installation and the pump runs, but not getting any flow.

    Great installation video.
    Just installed a Black & Decker 2HP Variable Speed pool pump and trying to start. The display panel shows Error #8 which is under voltage fault. Multimeter checked voltage showing 224v-225v. BTW, the prior pump worked on the same power source. On the digital display, left side Am Pm are flashing and right side Time Duration Watts are flashing as well.
    None of buttons work at this point. Any help apricated.

      You’re positive both your legs are making good contact? When you test with voltage meter where are you placing leads?

    😂I bought 1.5 hp variable speed B&D pump a few months ago n I stall it myself replacing my broken Pentair Whisperflo. It works great , much better than I expected with programmed speed variations over 16 hours daily schedule that I don't need to change n it is so quiet ! Only problem during installation is the thread at wiring box 1/2" NTP needed to be retaped. Temporarily, I used a 1/2 sprinkler plastic riser to fit n taped to prevent water getting in when rain.

    It would have been so nice to have B&D pipe fittings match Hayward Ecostar 3400vps fittings. Probably by design and competition.
    I purchased the B&D 1.5 hp. It works out ok, the amps are higher that the Ecostar at a bit lesser rpm (if the amp readouts are correct). I run it for 8 hour at 1500 rpm to do a full circulation of the pool. About 15000 gallons. I can run water to the one story roof 8 solar panels. I will need to raise rpm to 2000 for more solar circulation. I probably should have bought the 2.0 hp pump. Next time.
    The basic programming description on the B&D pump is four time zones that are connected and have an initial start time progressing through the zones for the amount of time of each select zone. For me, basic, start time 0800, zone 1 runs for 15 minutes at 1800 rpm, then to zone 2 for 7 hour 45 minutes, zone 3 and zone 4 are zero run times. Instructions a bit short but complete. One sentence at a time.
    Added note, when disconnecting wires, note which one is white and which one is black.
    I did park my long car in a short space. Not wanting to re-plump the entire pump, the pump height and inlet and outlet ports matched the Ecostart with the base. Ecostar fittings did not match B&D and had to cut them off. Not much pipe left, had to saw zaw slip fittings to 1 to 1 1/2 inch slip depth to slide the pipe to correct lengths. Matched the intake fitting first while sliding pump inline then matched outlet to the correct position with inlet attached, move pump out and glued outlet in place.

    Seems like a great deal, good price, 5 year warranty, energy star rated. After installing, do you see any red flags?

    Where can I buy the correct electrical pigtail whip that has 1/2" "NPT" threaded fitting on the end? I need 4ft whip that will thread into my new Black & Decker 1.5 hp pool pump. Southside whip from HD doesn't work with this pump.

      Is it a 90? The only one I’ve come across that doesn’t work is a 90 but I have had success cutting it and then glueing them back together. Not ideal but works in a pinch

    • @rigbyspoolservices
      @rigbyspoolservices  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh I understand your question now- I don’t buy them pre made. I make them with the seal tight and fittings.

    • @in4thewin729
      @in4thewin729 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, I tried various 1/2" fittings that come with the whip as well as two that I picked up from the pool store and none of the 1/2" NPT fittings match the threads on my B&D pump. Fortunately the material of the pump threads is stronger than the threads on the whip and I was able to re-thread it into the pump threads.

    Why are you not using direct wire and also why are you using braided wire. Should be solid wire, especially for 230v

    • @rigbyspoolservices
      @rigbyspoolservices  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Just using what was already hooked up to the prior pump. Curious though- why solid only? I do prefer working with it but never heard any guys suggest one over the other

    • @rigbyspoolservices
      @rigbyspoolservices  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There’s really not much of a difference between using braided vs. solid wire.. as long as it’s sized properly, many actually favor threaded wire for pumps due to its ability to flex and say it lasts longer on applications that cause vibrations

    Great video except for the cameraman. I saw more of the back of his hand when installing the wiring that was unstable, Half the time out of focus and for God sake, you don't have to constantly zoom in and out. Overall grade C- on the video. Recommendation: Re do the video and re-submit.

    nobody addresses the wiring when a salt chlorinator is used.

    • @rigbyspoolservices
      @rigbyspoolservices  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      In that instance- and because this is a variable speed pump, you can either wire the salt system to 2/4 and have it run off the timer (preferred) or wire it to 1/3 and have constant power to it but that can be dangerous if the flow switch fails and the pump loses power but the salt cell continues to run.

    Stop butting up valves and pump fittings. Leave room for replacements. Save money and time

    • @rigbyspoolservices
      @rigbyspoolservices  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Absolutely, I don’t disagree with that statement. In this instance- 5x pipe diameter prior to pump is met. The point of the video is to show a simple drop in replacement- not so much redoing the pipe runs. But overall, I concur! Cheers
