I want to warn every man to think twice before going family court because u will lose very badly in most cases. I took my ex wife family court and all she had to say for me to lose my kids was that i was once violent towards her. The kids now live with my ex my parental responsibilities have been removed and i have not seen kids for over two years. I have never been violent i have never been arrested i got good job and career and all it took was one false accusation and kids gone out my life.

I went through hell in Family Court over a decade ago. Back then I had no idea how any of it worked and I thought I was being uniquely persecuted. It wasn't until much later that I realized this is just how it works. Guys should be required to take a Family Court class in high school. Of course that will never happen because the system relies on us remaining ignorant.

I told the judge, it’s all in black and white in the prenup, therefore I need no legal representation. 2 yrs later, pissing and making disparaging comments to our 21 yrs old daughter, my daughter finally let the cat out of the bag. Mama…. Papa is a multi millionaire! (Oh sure! He’s lying to you!) No mama, I am his executor and heir. I have seen all of his financial documents. He is a multi millionaire and has been sind the mid 1980s. Yes… I along with a brother from another mother together made lucky insightful investments. I got dragged into domestic relations court one time for .13 cents arrearages! I use to keep the court summons to show people because it seemed so far fetched! The judge actually yelled at the domestic relations officer for wasting everyone’s time, but that shows how biased domestic relation officers can be against men!
They can be remarkable human beings but, their emotional instability sometimes makes them prone to decisions that will absolutely ruin a guy's life (and let's not speak about keeping women in the army and making life-or-death decisions in the middle of conflict while in their period). It's sad but I have to agree, never fully trust women, and keep your mind sharp so you always have a step ahead. My brother went through 2 divorces, his 1st ex wanted to convince him to change the apartment to their joint name (luckily our old man was seeing through it, and did not allow it). Months later, she was asking for a divorce. It ruined my brother. He moved back to my parent's house. I was a kid, and these memories left a mark on me and stayed till today. (this is Europe, not the US, a supposedly traditional country).

Tom Leykis made an excellent point, that the marriage contract should have an agreement on how divorce is to be handled, so both parties can enter the marriage knowing if it ends, what the outcome will be. That way you avoid a messy drawn out divorce with huge legal fees. I don't get why marriage contracts are like blank cheques for women.

That's so accurate and that's actually the biggest difference. They can always move on and break up easily because they will never sacrifice any social connection. Once they have decided that they don't get exactly what they want they will prepare the soil and move on. I’ve never believed that women should take men to the cleaners. I actually lost everything to both husbands. I walked away from both marriages. If a marriage is no longer viable, just move along with grace and dignity.
