Please check, before using quick shot the gimbal will shake. Android user here. The new update just won't do a straight manual dronie. It will suddenly turn to another direction. This happened to me when the dji changed the casing of my mini2. I dont know what made it shake wether the update or the repair they made.

I tested the firmware version today and lost connection at 70 meters away which it has never done before. Not even the original mini. I was on top of a viaduct and there were railings so I will test again tomorrow. Apart from that it was fine. No gimbal shake. Thanks Darren

Looks like we need to take it into consideration. So removing PGYTECH filter solves the problem? Joeri, can you weight it on a good scale up to a tenth of a gram? Btw might it be windage issue specific to the filter?
Have been flying these same PGYTECH ND’s for 6 months and no issues. They are very light and well balanced. They fit so tight to the glass on the gimbal I fail to see how that could cause the problem. Testing the new update today and will report back if I see any issues but I’d be surprised if the filters are causing any of this. Good flying to all.
Yesterday my friend tested the new update. While returning, not 50 ft from us his drone went berserk and crashed on the pavement. Gimbal was knocked out of place and hanging. I won’t be updating this round, thank you.
Based on the feedback and looking at your footage, Im definitely sending my Mini 2 back to DJI for repair because the stutter on my gimbal is horrendous compared to your shot

this gimbal shake could be caused by the filter maybe? I've noticed this very weird and strong jitter when flying in sports mode while also using my skyreat filters. Almost like the gimbal doesn't have enough power to resist that movement wind with the filter on. The problem disappears as soon as the filter's off. Any thoughts on that Darren?
Hi Darren. Again another helpful video, of course had to come from you. I was stupid to delete the old DJI fly app that I downloaded when it was on Google play store and install the new updated version. With this app when I am capturing a video rotating the drone to capture the surrounding panorama, the video gets stuck quite often. This will as not the issue with old app from the play store. Glad to see/hear, I tested mine in an area/distance I haven't flown previously over a dense urban environment and didn't pay enough attention to the direction the antenna was pointing. So this one might have been down to me!
mine was fine today when I tested it pretty low. but UAV says winds going to pick up so not going to go to the other town looks windy tomorrow as well.

I have used my Mini 2 today for the first time in a few weeks and installed the latest update before attempting to fly. The RC & drone connect as normal, but then once airborne it only gets a few metres away before losing connection and eventually RTH kicks in. Not sure what else to try and would appreciate any suggestions you may have please.

You might have already tried this but is your horizon still that bad if you fly without the ND filter on? It could be the extra weight causing it. I'm just guessing tbh but it might be worth a look if you haven't already

So my question is: should I update what needs to be updated or not??? I see that you didn’t have any problems with the updates besides gimbal shake and horizon problem. Also I have another question: Will the salt water damage the drone or motors while flying low or high at the beach???
Yes, if you fly low while the waves are crashing. The salty mist will get to your drone. My Mavic pro’s screws are all rusted, even the ones on the gimbals. As for the gimbal, camera, and motor no apparent problems. I don’t fly low anymore with both my Mavic pro and my Mini 2.

I live in Missouri, so I have a lot of dense woods and hills. If I stay up about 300ft or about 100m I can get about a 1 1/2 mile away before signal gets choppy. And this with the regular controller.
I will do my tests tomorrow, but i do trust your tests as well obviously. So i do not really think that they 've changed somehting. Also i do not have issue with the horizon, i will check that again though.
After the update, I’ve been having signal problems right after taking off. It takes about 10 or more seconds to get my signal to full strength before I can fly higher than 5 meters.

Yes there is definitely an issue with range and connection and not just on the Mini 2 in the Fly app. Mavic Air 2 also has the same issue. I could fly 2000m with my Yaggis on before the update with very little or no signal loss from where I live in the countryside and my radio LOS is excellent. I have no RF pollution etc where I am. Now I am losing signal in the usual direction I fly long range and signal/RC lost after 400m. My max distance now is 1200m and it comes back home. But it is a ropey 1200m as I lost connection 3 times on my way there and the feed continually lags and is more or less unusable. Additionally, turning the drone around so that the drone antennas are facing the remote makes no difference now. Don't install this update until DJI address this as it will catch out anyone who has forgotten to set there RTH altitude. It i'snt even just long range as 400m is the standard distance for most everyday flyers. You go from full bars to 1 then RC lost. Ive tested Mavic Pro with the GO4 app and it is solid still in the same environment and conditions to 2000m. Needs fixed DJI.
If you ever do take the Mini 2 on a sea trial... be conscience of wind direction and speed.. not a worry with your bigger drones, but with a Mini you could have a castaway.!!!
2.9klm in 19klm winds no problemos :). So I have noticed a heap of people complaining about shudder on the gimble i did not see that issue at all today but I wasn't using ND filters either but something ill put out there to all my fellow pilot's i have found through past exp with the bigger drones if when you apply a ND and you get any shutter best way to fix is to adjust your pitch sensativety or smoothness and speed and in therory say if your using the polars they run a thick glass basically which is going to add weight to your gimble arm which with out the correct adjustments may cause a shutter would that not be correct my personal op on this matter is try adjust your gimble speed just slightly and see if that makes a difference because if it's to slow it will definay do that with the extra weight i could be wrong but it try an see if that works because with no ND ON and running on android and i was in decent winds no drop outs or shutters as i was orbiting and gimbling up or down it seemed smooth as normal
After this update my mini 2 isn't stable, without any wind it flew almost at a height of 2 meters against the house. I am a certified pilot and have the necessary experience, but it took effort to land the aircraft under ideal conditions. I may need to recalibrate everything, but still this shouldn't happen. For now I only fly on a large open area to test everything further before accidents happen. I may have the Care and Refresh Pack, but I prefer to prevent things from going (well) wrong.🛸☄🕵♂️

Ah that’s strange , I’m testing this out several time behind the scenes if I get any similar messages I’ll update you guys but please so the same
I did 2.8 Km in Singapore over sea with downtown Singapore to my right (the place has a lot of interference so 2.8km is absolutely incredible) I didn’t have any issues with the firmware update
Any news on signal issues as other channels are complaining that the Mini2 now has poorer signal than the original mini ? Ocusync issues?
I have no idea tbh, as I did this video and another one and no problems at all, I’m working on another one too about this subject but no idea as I have found no signal issues at all
@@DMProductions A practical test is always a good idea so I too flew my usual as far as I can see flight ;-) over the town and can report zero issues and great signal strength with no delay. Mini2 + Samsung A40
@@michaeldawson6309 exactly , I have a video coming too but unfortunately people will fly certain ways to make a problem out to be massive when really it isn’t
I had problems with loads of building not with open areas
That's normal. It's communicating through RF frequency and like gsm signal it can't penetrate fucking buildings. People need to stop watching too much SF movies
Great Review Darren!! Thank you for your test results!!
Thank you Doug !
My gimbal Horizon was very good last night I did do a gimbal calibration I updated the firmware‘s for everything even all three of my batteries I have to say the mini 2 was very stable and responsive better than I’ve seen in the past as far as range I did not fly it very far but maybe I will tonight are usually can fly it a bit south east of my house and get quite a bit of distance with a full bars of signal so I will check tonight and see if I still get the same I would say it’s about 5 to 6000 feet away. But this is with the controller that comes with the mini 2 not the smart controller.
Yes let me know buddy
I updated yesterday and did a vertical flight to a height of 100m with a complete 180 at the top.... several gimbal shudders on the way up and on the 180....tonight a black screen...no camera on the phone....reset both controller and drone but again camera blacked out.....did another full reset and solved the issue....was a bit fearful of flying but kept it at a low level....😳
Other youtuber's also report problems with the signal strenght. I will not update for now. Thanks for the video :)
I bought the mini 2 just as the new update came so I don't know what is different or an improvement.
I live in Missouri, so I have a lot of dense woods and hills. If I stay up about 300ft or about 100m I can get about a 1 1/2 mile away before signal gets choppy. And this with the regular controller.
Had my mini 2 out this week filming a summer camp and was stuck in auto mode with no ND filters!!! Could definitely use a set! 🙏🏼😭
I will do my tests tomorrow, but i do trust your tests as well obviously. So i do not really think that they 've changed somehting. Also i do not have issue with the horizon, i will check that again though.
Thanks for watching
@@DMProductions never miss a video! 😎👍🏻✌🏻🤘🏻
Just did 1144m distance with lots of buildings around, no difference for me compaired to previous version.
Android phone
Thank you appreciate the results
After the update, I’ve been having signal problems right after taking off. It takes about 10 or more seconds to get my signal to full strength before I can fly higher than 5 meters.
Same
Are you stood near a house or objects blocking the drone ?
@@DMProductions I was out in the countryside on the side of the road, with large fields flanking it.
@@DMProductions Also, before the update, I was flying *directly overhead* the controller and had an “IMU Altitude Error” and my camera froze, forcing me to land be vision from like 50m.
Flown this afternoon, no issues.
Awesome thanks
Just got to Newquay with mini 2. Its really windy I'm gutted . Its so beautiful here
Bet it is ! What’s the wind mph ?
@@DMProductions 25mph gusts . I've always used the uav app and it says no fly so I tend to listen
@@mattyw8159 hmm I was in that today , fly into the wind, 30 -50m height and you will be good
Thanks Darren, but you've got a lot issues, man. Any chance you mini 2 HW's shot somehow?
And what about ND filters giveaway? I've just received my mini 2 and it will be a good addition ;-) I haven't got enough time to order the filters to Israel before my UK vacation anyway, so your giveaway could be a savior.
It's funny, someone is selling a property here and I looked at the real estate brokers photos and I know he has a mini 2 by the horizon lol
Haha ur kidding !
😂
@@DMProductions yeah he had some Arial drone pictures and they had the same tilt as mine does 😆 I'd post a link but I like to remain a ghost on here and don't disclose my name or location. I did tag one of my video locations as Dildo Arm as that is an option far to the east of me in Newfoundland
Thank you for testing it all out for us!
Thanks Scott
I have those gimbal shakes all the time on any firmware when decending...
same here I think its a problem with the way they made it. It always moves when making sharp movements
Are the pgy tech plastic or glass filters?
Glass
Thanks for the tip about calibrating the gimble.
Good news about the signal strength - thanks!
Thanks for doing this test as im a bit hesitant to flying that far… amazing vid!
Welcome 🤗
Some time become laging .. and my update for battery all failed.. but still fly normaly.. maybe got more update after this..
I love the FPV mode and will have to try it. Not sure i’d have tested how far it can go out to sea lol
Lol that’s why I’m here
If you ever do take the Mini 2 on a sea trial... be conscience of wind direction and speed.. not a worry with your bigger drones, but with a Mini you could have a castaway.!!!
I too love the fpv mode of the mini 2. I didn't have any connection problem.
Thanks for testing Darren
Welcome thanks buddy
No issues for me with update on my Mini 2. I have no issues with gimbal horizon issues
I also got a couple of 'shakes' & it was at close range.
No Issue here as well, all is work as advertised.
perfect
Thanks for that comment appreciate it
Please review new update dji fly app 1.4.4
After this update my mini 2 isn't stable, without any wind it flew almost at a height of 2 meters against the house. I am a certified pilot and have the necessary experience, but it took effort to land the aircraft under ideal conditions. I may need to recalibrate everything, but still this shouldn't happen. For now I only fly on a large open area to test everything further before accidents happen. I may have the Care and Refresh Pack, but I prefer to prevent things from going (well) wrong.🛸☄🕵♂️
Anyone else having a error when they click on download dji app and it gives you an error and tells you link is incorrect? If so how can I get passed it
Half a mile over water with your gimbal sideways, are you looking to do a "my Mini 2 landed in the sea" video?! 😂
I’m practicing for it 😂
Hi. That area isnt blackpool is it. Great beach. Great video as usual.
Hope i get those ND filters
I just saved all my money to get the mini 2 and know i need to save more to buy the filters
No Problems at all here!!
i got the problem, its coming from 1 of my 3 battery. 2 of those work perfectly. i think we must update the battery
Yes update the batteries, each at a time you will get a update for the battery
I e just updated last night so not had a chance to fly yet but I’ll let you know 👍
Sure do buddy
@@DMProductions update: just flown my mini 2 for first time since the latest update and it was so bad I had to just bring it back as it was making me nervous. Lagging video feed which kept dropping out and the mini 2 was so unstable in the air even my son commented on how it was all over the place!!! Won’t be flying it again anytime soon so at the minute it’s a £500 door stop!! 🤬
bro can you tell me how to change altitude with Drone hack from ios
Thanks so much I’ve had no issues either
Awesome 😎
Great information. Thank you.
Awesome thank you
Had no problems going over 400mt but after watching my videos from last night my gimble went crazy twice stuttering like mad
Did it sort itself out ?
@@DMProductions Yes it was only for few seconds each time going to try get out tonight and see if it happens again. Appreciate it Darren
@@DMProductions Darren it's a bit off topic but will any pvf goggles work on mini 2? Have you tried any?
@@Tammmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm let us know the results of the next flight definitely curious
@@AquaTech225 last nights flight was OK but I will keep an eye open to see if it happens again over next couple outings
How many signal issues are really down to ppl not ensuring there TX is fully charged before flight...
As to horizon issues, in this video the drone warned ⚠️ you of high winds the gimble can only compensate for so much wind thats why the horizon is squeed... solution don't fly in such high winds...
I’ve had gimbal horizon issues with hardly any wind too
Passando pra prestigiar aquele like e fortalecer o canal 😉✌👍
3km after update and no problem
