It amazes me that this song gets virtually no airtime on the radio and that it didn’t make the charts. It’s better than some of her more well known hits
In your opinion.
True that
Its highest chart position was #24 in the UK. It was re-released after the other songs off the album took off.
I think I like 'I shall believe' the most, all in all, from TNMC album.
Other than 'can't cry anymore' and 'nobody said it would be easy'.
200%
Well, I guess nobody mentions it here: the lyrics are truly deep. It's about running from problems, from people, from closeness. The girl from the song feels nowhere secure or safe. She tries to run from familiar patterns, and by doing so, she repeats the pattern learned from her father.
if you're poor & the s*** hits the fan, you can't fight the system just Run, Baby, Run
The word is spelled *truly*.
It's about a girl who ended up with borderline personality disorder, running away from the rat race which keeps trying to suck her into it's vortex where most women end up, being a baby incubator with an apron on. She instead lives in her own world of fantasy and dissociation. That's why it makes me cry. It's a character portrait of my very life. It's not necessarily about being poor. It's about not wanting to be some ordinary wifey person stuck in some boring dude's life. Her father idealized her so she is too good for anybody. That's her secret smile. ❤
only a real snowflake like you gets it
You just mentioned it.
2024... still here for it ❤
You're not alone
And i from Brazil.
@@charlestonhartmann1982eu também! Me too, I'm from Brazil! I love this song 🇧🇷
She was born in November 1963
The day Aldous Huxley died
And her mama believed that every man could be free
So her mama got high, high, high
And her Daddy marched on Birmingham
Singing mighty protest songs and he pictured all the places
Where he knew that she'd belong but he failed and taught her young
The only thing she'd need to carry on
He taught her how to
Run baby, run baby, run baby
Run baby, run
So run baby, run baby
Run baby, run baby, run
Past the arms of the familiar and their talk of better days
To the comfort of the strangers slipping out before they say
So long baby loves to run
She counts out all her money in the taxi on the way to meet her plane
And stares hopeful out the window
At the workers fighting through the pouring rain
And she's searching through the stations for an unfamiliar song
And she's thinking about the places where she knows she still belongs
She smiles the secret smile, and sure she knows exactly how to carry on
So run baby, run baby, run baby
Run baby, run
So run baby, run baby
Run baby, run baby, run
From their old familiar faces and their old familiar ways
To the comfort of the strangers and slipping out before they say
So long, and baby loves to run
And she's searching through the stations for an unfamiliar song
And she pictures all the places where she knows she still belongs
And she smiles the secret smile because she knows exactly how
To carry on
So run baby, run baby, run baby
Run baby, run
So run baby, run baby
Run baby, run baby, run
So run baby, run baby, run baby
Run baby, run
So run baby, run baby
Run baby, run baby, run
So run baby, run baby, run baby
Run baby, run
So run baby, run baby
Run baby, run baby, run
This is my absolute favorite Sheryl Crow song! First album, track 1, what an introduction! Thank you for all the great music, Sheryl!
I Love this Classic who else is listening in 2022 🙌🏽🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Agreed it’s a masterpiece
I like a number of her songs but this is her best work ever.
I'm sad that she didn't continue in this style on her follow up albums. Liked it best with her musicians from "Tuesday night music club", Bill Bottrill and Co
@@candylounge7962 Agreed. but it is very likely the change prolonged her career. Her album "Threads" debut was at #2 on the US country charts and she was 58 at the time.
Such a great song. She deserves much more credit for being one of the greatest singers/songwriters of the 90s. Great great artist!
amazing song. a hidden treasure unfortunately
I love this song and the whole album, what a masterpiece.
Brings back so many memories.
They don't make music like this anymore...
how can they when she dumped the people who wrote the whole first album for her
@@orangespam12 I meant a general "They", just music in general.
This song is still good, and still so true after all these years.
The power of good music.
the best singet I hear
Me and my dad always blast this in the car, it’s literally a song I can sing my heart out too :)
I was born in 63 and I'm still running ❤❤❤
Her most brilliant song.. A masterpiece.
😍❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
for me is the best song by Sheryl Crow this song has something special!
Agreed
6-beat songs are a refreshing change from the current norm.
Agreed 👍!
I agree
Amoo!
Simmmm, a maravilhosa Lília Cabral
I love the melancolic atmosphere.
Fantástica essa música! Aqui do Brasil, 2022.
Essa canção é daquelas que são eternas !
Happy 60th birthday Sheryl Crow!!!
Sheryl's music is timeless... She did not have to go country.
Johnnie Reddcloud : Why not? She also great on country !
This is the only album of hers worth listening to. All others are nothing as far as I'm concerned. If you like it, that's cool. I like her and I hope other people like her later works, but not for me.
She has a lot of country influences in her music anyway, so it's not really that far of a stretch.
Just remember also in 2003, the label released a country version of First Cut is the Deepest.
Voice awsome

I miss you Samantha♡
My Dad said someone gave him this and he wanted to give it to me a few days before he died. I havent listened to it since then.
Her first album was really fantastic. ♥️⭐️♥️
Just rediscovered this song. I'm 27 and last time i heard it i was 10. I'm so happy right now! Took a screenshot and added it to all my playlists. Won't forget about it again!
Does anyone know the name of the blonde actress in this video?
I LOVE this song - without a doubt this is definitely one of my 'desert island discs'. The emotion in Sheryl's voice, the sound and rhythm of every instrument, makes this possibly one of the best songs I've ever heard. Also, would have to nominate this as potentially one of the best album 1 - side 1 - track 1's ever made.
90's years...I miss of this years
Me too!!
Me toooooo❤️
Moi AUSSI

This song hits so close to home for me it makes me wonder what her childhood was like
A lot of memories during a crucial time period in my life weigh for me on this track. Bad, good, very emotional song for me during a time that had 2 paths, if i took one of the paths i would probably not be here anymore, the other one is where i am today. Thx for making me run in the right direction Sheryl.
To assistindo a novela pela primeira vez, e xonei nessa música
Ela era bem louca!!! Atuação magistral mais uma vez da Lilia!!!
👍👍👍👍👍
Huxley = one of the great writers and visionaries of the 20th century. Sheryl crow = one the greatest singer songwriters and musical artists of modern times. artistic siblings.
nice
Sheryl's best song by far for me, the lyrics, the emotion, it's a masterpiece, every time she sings the line run baby, run you can hear the emotion in her, and it just takes me away to a peaceful place every single time
This song of 1993 is a power rock ballad.
Estranged 1993 is better
@@duncan3998 ok,
Uma linda canção, amo e ouço sempre... Quanto bem me faz.
Strange people are appearing in this world, strange acts, people without love, ... and I'm running.
this was the first music i ever owned..and i still have the cassette :)
I miss the 90s and early 2000s Sheryl Crow songs!!!!!
I had also such a venture!
I was waiting at the telephone to talk with the library for some books for my son, and I waited and waited and waited, this song in background.
After half an hour they answered me and my first question was:"Please, give me the title of this song!"
I was fallen fully in LOVE with it… and I still am!
So many feelings, a mix of desperation, hope (it's contrary), power, rebellion, fight and escape (another oxymoron!), trust in themselves and mistrust anyone else
Achei Glória a Deus...

The Zipper is the best carnival ride ever! 💋
When my wife and I met, we would go to a local bar where an awesome band would cover this song. Listening today brings back great memories and still a great song.

She was singing this awsome song at the Capitol Theatre and still got it. Got and gets to my soul. I am glad I was teenager in the 90s. Special times.
Absolute classic tune but only just found it is Sheryl Crow singing it.

An absolute masterpiece of a song. Truly well composed and the haunting drums complementing her piercing vocals...
