Hey bro I lost my senior year too. I’d encourage you if you love this sport still find ways to keep playing. I’m playing on a mens league while I train to hopefully walk onto my university’s baseball team.
@@cardhoncho9878I was in the same boat losing my senior season. Did you end up walking onto your university team? Just figured I’d ask since it’s 2 years later

Great stuff, my 14 year old has been doing this drill since the summer and has increased his velo about 5-6 mph. Along with working out and putting on weight of course, but it works. Long toss and this program are great. Thanks Trevor!

Go Trevor and I am rooting for you👍 I am sitting in Tokyo Japan and a big fan of Yokohama Baystars. You had visited their training center in Yokosuka some years ago⚾⚾
Hey Trevor love the videos and the tips! I’m a 13 year old pitcher and only throw 65 mph and want to gain lots of velo. These drills sound great and was wondering should I use the same weights as you do or should I lower them because I am at a lower age then you? Thanks for the help!
First of all, throwing 65 at 13 is crazy, at 13, I probably threw 35. By far the most helpful thing I've done so far is long toss. I just head over to my local baseball field with a bucket of balls and hurl them into the backstop. This is really helpful if you are a high arm slot guy with a lot of ride to your fastball, but even me being a low 3/4 slot guy who relies of my arm side run, this is still an immensely helpful drill. Keep throwing bro!
Young man, it looks like Trevor won’t get back to you and who knows what you’ve done over the last 10 months. It isn’t safe to be doing weighted balls for you and nearly every other MS/HS player. Those should be reserved for college/pro guys because their bodies are more developed. That’s the short answer. The long answer is more scientific with a bunch of jargon. Drill #1 isn’t one most players need to do but the others are good, just not with weighted balls. It’s fine to “want to gain lots of velo” but you’re not understanding something very important. Trevor has trained with some of the best pitching people in the world (Texas Baseball Ranch, Driveline, and MLB coaches). He’s also a fully grown adult. He’s trained his core in the anti-rotation ways. He’s built up a strong shoulder and mobile hips and all of these other things for years before picking up weighted balls. There’s a lot of research and science on this stuff. I get he’s a popular figure with a big following but stay away from weighted balls. There are PLENTY of other ways to safely gain velocity. Besides, nobody cares how hard you throw at that age but you. Learn to pitch while continuing to train your body to be athletic, strong, supple, & powerful. People who say “lower the weight” don’t know what they’re talking about because there are 3 parts of speed training. Overspeed or overload (heavy), underspeed or underload (lighter) & normal load. So saying go lower will only be focusing on the underspeed piece. They only say that because it sounds like a safer option for somebody who is younger.
great video thx. How often a week do you do the velo programm? Maybe you could do a video where you can explain what your week looks like in general, like a routine between starts etc? Would be great!
He has it posted in his short, Monday long toss 80 easy throws out 8 pull downs on the way in, Tuesday weighted ball velocity program 24-30 throws, Wednesday mechanical day 100 total throws then repeat that for Thursday Friday Saturday and Sunday is whatever choice you want can be a day off of throwing or longtoss, your choice
Amazing videos. Great stuff in here. My son is 13 and relies so much just on his upper body to throw. He's got really good movement on his ball, but hardly uses his legs...what's the best way to get a 13 year old to start doing this stuff? Your explanation of everything is great. Keep posting videos like this. Thanks
Teaching the body to move faster is critical and this describes the process well. Getting more athletic on the mound and speeding up the delivery tempo is a key finding. Do you have more of these drills ? Great segment ? My teenage pitchers are doing this in our home lab with good results, 4oz 5oz 6oz I am also still skeptical of what plyoballs really achieve ? I see these done more and more but not sure there is a real benefit of these plyo throw techniques? Thanks again for sharing this !
This channel is a fucking gold mine. If I had your channel back in 2008 when I first started playing ball I would've been able to do something after high school instead of being moderately successful in my adult baseball league lmao.
Trevor thanks for posting this man. My wife and I can’t wait to get our six month old son into baseball. Hope you and your family had a good thanksgiving!
What are the expected velos from various clock positions, are there any patterns? What are the expected velos for different weight balls? What are the expected spreads? Low velos on heavy balls work on strength, low velos on light balls work on arm speed?
Awesome. Just awesome. Drawing out the theme of variability a bit further, it occurred to me: why not also mix up the ball *sizes* as well? Don’t think this can be done with the 3s, but 4-5-6 you can. Break those up doing a third undersized, a third normal, and a third oversized? Now you’re really not doing the same throw twice. Anyway, post-throw & recovery up next? Plus variation in recovery routine based on day’s main purpose?
Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge man! You rock! Hope to see you in Dodger Blue soon my dude. If you’re in Denver soon I’d love to connect….
99% of MS/HS players shouldn’t be doing weighted balls at all. Maybe plyo care balls for warmup and patterning stuff. Train your body vs just the arm. The drills are good for throwing work, aside from #1.
