You're not the only guy with bad mechanics... I was a victim of the Tom House "goal post" momentum killer delivery... Imagine trying to throw a ball WITHOUT using your own momentum and slightly pausing after breaking the hands... And still being able to 89-91....
Trevor is a super smart guy and an even smarter pitcher. The preparation and studying of perfecting his craft he does is off the charts and unheard of. This video and alot of his blog vids show why he's at the top level at his position. With the next gen of players watching TH-cam and googling how to do shit Trevor is great for them. Baseball needs more Trevor Bauer s
I think many pitchers can relate to feeling how bad older mechanics were for ourselves and the progressions it takes. the only problem is many of us can't figure it out in time and our playing clock runs out.
I went to a pitching clinic as a little league pitcher. They taught a 6 step process that stuck with me. This point here 5:33 I remember I feel almost like I'm doing a split I try to get real low to the ground which forces a nice lunge. When you can mix that with that pushed back foot and drive all that momentum it makes for a good pitch. But at that exact moment at the position you called "block" I distinctly remember feeling simultaneously low to the ground and extremely accurate. It's as if doing the proper mechanics ensures a "feeling" of using simple hand eye coordination like the target feels closer than it actually is. Or rather the more proper the mechanics, the more it felt like I was closing that gap, and accuracy improved as a result.
You are a great dude and your knowledge you share is priceless 👍🏼 I wish more pros would share their insight into their craft with the young players and coaches in the game. I can tell them all this stuff as their coach but it doesn’t resonate like it does coming from guys doing it for a living👍🏼 Keep up the great content sir. Appreciate you👍🏼
Thank you Trevor for sharing your knowledge and experience. This is fantastic content and I haven been able to use the information you shared with the pitchers I coach and we've had great success, so thank you again.
Seeing this was a real EYE OPENER! My mechanics (did) resemble your UCLA mechanics. Implementing some tweaks based on your principles of DRIFT, DROP, ROTATE, BLOCK, SEPARATE, LOAD SPIRAL, & THROW. Initial results are ENCOURAGING! I'm buying in and gonna keep working on this. Thanks Mr. Bauer!
Wow that was awesome! A must see video for any kid that wants to pitch, growing up I was a catcher and definitely found this interesting! Will definitely look at pitching differently rest of my life.
Gotta admire a guy who thinks his mechanics aren't very good considering that he is second all time in strikeouts in pac 10 and had 200+ in one season. Truly outstanding
greatly appreciate all the help with mechanics and knowledge on the great game of baseball not only for me but the entire baseball world. we need you back in the MLB
Hey Trevor, To what extent do good mechanics influence pitching effectiveness and velocity? Even with mechanics that you deem less effective - you still performed very in college and made it to the MLB. Just curious to see what made you make significant mechanical changes in spite of earlier success - and what your advice would be to pitchers in terms of maintaining natural movement patterns vs form optimization. Thanks.
Very good stuff ,we back in the 80s and 90s use to have some 4 or 5 principals but 8 is unheard of , those 8 principals really break down the sequence of the delivery more efficiently, allowing to make the right corrections , back then ,we did the same imitating pitching styles , of good successful pitchers ,in my case Ryan , seaver ,and later on Clemens , relying more on physical conditioning than good mechanics .
Yooo...I need that!!! I've actually trained at Driveline where Trevor has trained. I don't have nearly as much tallent as he does but you can tell that Trevor is BEYOND dedicated to his craft. If he did do this it would be extremely beneficial. I just don't know if he has the time though.
Finally a mechanics video that makes sense. None of this "external upper front ratation" or "3rd leg synchronizationalozation with foot spin" or whatever the fuck these other guys talk about. I swear half of them don't know what they're talking about. Thanks for this video trev!
love the videos man they are really interesting to get inside the mind of a major leaguer in that same thought what ever happened to the fun series like tips with trev, breaking point, fan fridays and stuff like that?
Incredible self awareness and bio-mechanical sequencing discussion. 8 Phases of a high velocity delivery Drift Drop Rotate Block Separate Load Spiral Throw
Thank you for making this video. I like what you said about how you have to do what is best for your body not trying to do what Yu Darvish does. I've heard that you've trained at a bunch of different places Trevor. I also was very intrigued about the force plates that you use every day to see where your body is at. I'm currently training at driveline in Seattle as a positional player and hitter, not a pitcher. Do you know if force plates are able to tell if an individual is supposed to be a front post, center post or rear post in regards to weight shift and rotation? There is this thing called "Swing Catalyst" for golf. I'm sure that there is some baseball equivalent. I've been trying to get into my hips more utilizing a "better hockey" slide board and "fritter first" balance board in an effort to wake up my stiff hips but my throwing velocity and mechanics have always been attrociously terrible. I just wanted to pick you brain Trevor. If you have any time and come across this. Thanks.
Learned a lot from the video. Esp timing. I've been working hard on Drift, Hinge, Scap Load, Separate, Effortless Arm Action into Ball Release. ps Flow looking good:)
in 2010 you are quite obviously "doing the Lincecum". You're pushing off the mound way out in front, plus your bowed back, and the lead leg behind the rubber during drift. In 2011 you land really short, but the front view still looks like Lincecum. Just without the "leap" forward
Hey Trevor, I notice that you always talk about the drifting phase but I watched a video from Robby Rowland about accelerators (drifting) and drivers so I was wondering what you think about driving instead of accelerating (drifting).
im sure youve talked about it but dont you have a pitching coach? id love to hear the conversations happening. even what his role is in shaping your mechanics. seems as though you had to kind of go it alone
Hey Trevor, I noticed that quite a few young pitchers in the Indians organization really turned the corner into young stars while there, yourself included. Does Cleveland have a system that is just superior to others?
QUESTION.. It looks like you used to have a straight front leg on the plant that would allow you to rotate over the hip but now you plant your front foot with a bend in your knee which seems like it would decrease overall momentum/ball speed but the trade off is more control and less damage to the hip joint?
Hey Trevor, I was wondering if you have any tips from going into drop phase to rotation. My back leg is always extended. Would that just mean that I don't drop enough. Thanks for the video.
One thing I noticed through all the videos was the evolution of your arm delivery. It started out longer (in college) and got noticeably shorter. Was this something you consciously worked on? Or was it just a by-product of your overall mechanics? Would love to hear your thoughts on this! Thanks !!
Just looking at how many problems you had and you still threw 92 is inspiring. It also shows how far I have to go to fix my mechanics too.
Yep,but his lead leg block is excellent so he still throw the ball pretty fsat
You're not the only guy with bad mechanics... I was a victim of the Tom House "goal post" momentum killer delivery... Imagine trying to throw a ball WITHOUT using your own momentum and slightly pausing after breaking the hands...
And still being able to 89-91....
Would love to see a review on the kinetic arm sleeve
The drawing at 10:06 is priceless !! 😂😂
"Mechanics over Style" Great message in 3 words. Great video. Never knew it was broken down into so many pieces.
Thank you for all of this information Trevor! You have no clue how much of a help you’ve been.

hey man i hope all is well. you're a good dude for posting all these videos helping future generations. stay up
Damn! So much useful information. I watch this over and over. Thank you.
Thank you Trevor, you are a big influence in what I'm trying to do on the mound (men's senior baseball).
Can you do a breakdown video of the 4 principles of pitching?
Drift, drop, rotate, block.

Trevor your pitching mechanics are fantastic, I love it so much, youre definitely a great pitcher!

Awesome Vid + pitching content Trev!

Was able to go side by side with my own, thank you so much for sharing
Happy birthday!
Really nice job in breaking down the delivery. It is definitely a journey .

Your mechanics aren’t always going to be better but the goal should be to use the most efficient mechanics as possible which will also prevent injury
His leg block was also really good that’s one of the most important parts when it comes to mechanics.

Really appreciate your videos and breakdowns! Thank you! Hope to see you pitching again soon!
The drawing at 10:06 is priceless !! 😂😂
I just want to thank you for sharing your knowledge.
Thanks for the breakdown, buds. Your dad bod chuckin lightning rods shows just how much each one of these steps can help a guys/gals velo. ⚡ ⚡ ⚡
Trevor, you are a coach on line, thank you.
What a technician!
Thank you for responding on my post on twitter thank you so much love your vlogs
Thanks Trevor you’re truly teaching
Bauer has the best leg blocks ever, that knee extending gives a lot of velocity i think.
Can you start a series on TH-cam where guys send you their mechanics and you critique them? I think that would be really cool to watch!
Yooo...I need that!!! I've actually trained at Driveline where Trevor has trained. I don't have nearly as much tallent as he does but you can tell that Trevor is BEYOND dedicated to his craft. If he did do this it would be extremely beneficial. I just don't know if he has the time though.
@@808suretythe actually does breakdown your own mechanics if you use his 4app
Thank you TB
Excellent. Thank you!
Just get yelled at by my teacher to put my phone away so I said no I’m trying to throw gas

I’m obsessed with pitching mechanics.
Great videos, very instructive.
Love these videos
The drawing was on point literaly! LOL😆
Can we get a video on how you track your recovery? And your thoughts on devices like Oura rings and whoops?
How you haven’t been allowed to play again I don’t know , love to see you manage a team one day!
You should make a pitching playlist for youth pitchers! A series that can help get younger kids pitching the CY way!!
Also, if you're in the LA area, I'd love to invite you to come teach our 7yo pitchers some good mechanics!
love the videos man they are really interesting to get inside the mind of a major leaguer in that same thought what ever happened to the fun series like tips with trev, breaking point, fan fridays and stuff like that?
Dude, you're fucking awesome! Thanks for all your vids.

Need this Cy Young back in the game
thank you trevor
Can you do a Verlander one? Love your comment and hope to see you back in the league soon!

15:46 Can you please speak deeply about styles vs principles using examples of NPB pitchers?
Discord gang🔥. Great vid
The goat
Hey Trevor, I notice that you always talk about the drifting phase but I watched a video from Robby Rowland about accelerators (drifting) and drivers so I was wondering what you think about driving instead of accelerating (drifting).
“Drivers” don’t not drift forward
I miss you! 😢

I see your using an iPad, what do you use to draw on your videos?
Thank you!
If only everyone could be so openly self critical, I think the world would be a better place. Or maybe everyone would just be an awesome pitcher.
A really really instructive video, good stuff thank you for sharing this with us
Hey Trevor I heard that baseball players aren’t supposed to do bench cus it’s bad for ur arm but I was wondering your opinion on it
Hey Trevor how do I throw harder at 13 years old I’m pretty short for my age and I need some velo jump I’ve been up to 61
Damn looks like the discord link expired. Can we get another one please?
Jason Dominguez....anyone old enough to remember Tony Solaita? Or more recent....how about Jesus Montero.
How can I send you videos of me pitching so you can go over my mechanics????
2022 Cy Young
what editing software does he use to make the edits on the video?
What drills could you use to fix these issues, like the excessive tilt and the hips when drifting
Can you pick one of your favorite and most successful lefty’s and do a video on his mechanics
he did a randy johnson mechanics breakdown.
Are you using your glove to trigger the hip rotation? Also, can you break down Sims pitching mechanics?
whats the app u used to edit and draw?
I missed the link. At 6 hrs now. Any chance we can get another 5 mins starting now???
How can I send a video of my son to you to have you analyze it?
Holy hell 2010 Trevors delivery looks like Lincecum.
Intentional
i think that 2021 mechanics is very similiar to as Max Scherezer
I’ve been trying to join the discord but the link doesn’t work. Did you close it? I’d love to join
A mechanic journey.
Hey Trevor, I was wondering if you have any tips from going into drop phase to rotation. My back leg is always extended. Would that just mean that I don't drop enough. Thanks for the video.
Hey dude, discord link says invalid!
Do you have any clips from when you were at hart
hey trevor how can u work on keeping the hips level
One thing I noticed through all the videos was the evolution of your arm delivery. It started out longer (in college) and got noticeably shorter. Was this something you consciously worked on? Or was it just a by-product of your overall mechanics? Would love to hear your thoughts on this! Thanks !!
I wonder if the shorter arm delivery is less stress on the arm and shoulder?
What do you use to draw on your video as you play it?
Skip ahead to 10:05
surely Eric and Josh Donaldson collab for a hitters mechanics video
W0W!
Love u papa
Pedro Martinez has said many young pictures today have bad mechanics causing major stress on the elbow. Trevor knows !
i think darvish train so much on his lower half! which is amazing , !! he train so much in the gym!
2:36 "we'll fix it in post"
Do a Nate Pearson break down
你什麼時候回到大聯盟投球,我很期待
@Trevorbauer if my dad has a video or gets a video can you breakdown my mechanics I’m in 8th grade
This dude is the Josh Donaldson of pitching
