    Thanks for video. I have a 2000 Pantera 580. I searched TH-cam for 1/2 hour looking for a video with that type of clutch to adjust my belt deflection. What is the correct amount of spacers should be removed for correct tension? Basically, what is the correct tension or what height should the belt be in the sheaves? Again, thanks for the video...short and to the point.

    Got another question buddy.. what's the spring setting on the secondary? I seen heard you say the middle is stock for cat but what's the deal with that?

    • @mikesautomaintenance5780
      @mikesautomaintenance5780  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      From left of center is softer setting it will make the clutch shift into higher gear faster and from center to right is tighter and will make wait longer to fully shift

    on the outer piece of the secondary should those plastic bearings for lack of a better term be all able to spin? on mine 1 out of the 3 is loose. I just purchased a 2002 ZR600. It seems the belt deflection is way off so I'm starting there. seems to hesitate to engage. thanks mike.

      Yes the white rollers should spin freely

    • @mikesautomaintenance5780
      @mikesautomaintenance5780  ปีที่แล้ว

      Let me explain that a little better if the clutch is put all together and the rollers are riding on the helix they should not spin when u try to turn them with your fingers but if u have the clutch apart and the outta roller cover off they should spin freely

      @@mikesautomaintenance5780 hey mike when the clutch is in the machine and assembled
      I have one plastic roller that spins freely the other 2 do not. Any idea on what causes this or what I should be looking to replace?

      @@TylerBemis worn out rollers, worn out helix or misaligned helix. Mark the helix that it's not touching and also Mark that roller that is not touching take the roller plate off take the three bolts out of the helix turn the Helix to a different position reinstall the bolts finger tight put the spring and roller plate back on grab both sheaves of the secondary clutch open it up some and let it slam shut and then tighten your bolts down for your helix see if that helps if it changes positions and the roller that you Mark is now tight and the other one is loose on the Helix that you marked you have a helix issue if not you have a roller issue

      @@mikesautomaintenance5780 thanks mike I’m going to take it apart this weekend and take a look if I remember right the belt is sitting really low inside the sheaves.

    Hey I was checking my clutches today on my 550 cougar and noticed my second clutch could move in and out on my drive shaft like half an inch or so? Am I supposed to have shims behind my secondary as well to prevent that?

    • @mikesautomaintenance5780
      @mikesautomaintenance5780  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes there should be washers behind your secondary on the shaft itself you should have some play back and forth but a half inch is a little excessive

    • @mikesautomaintenance5780
      @mikesautomaintenance5780  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You should have 1 0623-118 Washer, Shim (.030 in. And 1 0123-578 Washer behind the clutch and on the front of the clutch on the bolt u should have 1 0123-053
      Washer, Flat and 1 0123-019
      Washer, Flat on the bolt that holds the clutch on

    I have a question I'm very new to snowmobiling when I take off it jerks does that mean I need a new belt and adjust my belt

    • @mikesautomaintenance5780
      @mikesautomaintenance5780  ปีที่แล้ว

      I would 1st check the belt for missing peace if it looks ok and the belt deflection is set correctly lift the back of the snowmobile and make sure the track is not to loose track could be slipping if all checks out next thing would be to check the chain case for worn-out gears if you're not sure how to check the belt deflection with the back of the snowmobile off the ground start it up Rev it up a few times get it warmed up hit the brake so the truck stops spinning let off the brake the track should move slowly when it is running with the track off the ground if it don't move your belt deflection is to loose your track should just creep forward when it is running and off the ground

      What are u talking about wrong? This video is for adjusting belt defection/ tighten or loosen your belt the holes in your roller cover where the spring goes has nothing to do with adjustment for your belt them holes are there to tighten/loosen the shift point of your clutch do some research before commenting 😂 thanks for the comment through
