This screen is more responsive than every other review I've seen...everyone else had to press on the screen 3 or 4 times in some instances, wonder if it's sporadic or this is a newer software version.
I don't understand having the screen vertical. It just seems like a liabilty when you are driving and have to look down. I favor having the screen more at dash level or above so you can see the screen and out of the window at the same time
Really just depends on how much vertical real estate there is right? Like this is screen is wider than it is tall, but it still requires looking down to those bottom menu items. I’m not too bothered either way as long as the UI is intuitive and there are places to brace your hand when fumbling through the touch screen.
The lack of uniformity in the software layouts across the 3 cars will be a huge problem. If the software update ability of the devs on the 2 is any indication, these cars will be a complete mess software wise. Volvo is having major issues with the EX30 software, so better not jump into this first year model….
Polestar and Volvo are Geely brands that use Android automotive. The other brands like Galaxy, Smart, Zeekr, Lotus, Lynk&Co seem to use some android like system from Meizu. Smart #3 infotainment has a bit clumsy UI, but is working stable after last patches.
Yeah don't buy a Polestar because of the Software stack. Polestar 2 has the same UI as the 2019 Volvo XC40 had for no reason. Climate Control bar disappears in some menues and overall very big chunky menu bars that steal space. The rectangular design of buttons and all black etc is also just not very nice for the eyes in the long run. And as said in previous post they now have 3 cars with different Android versions and different layouts. In the Geely group the one making best user interface really seems to be Zeekr at the moment.
Does the color theme within the displays match which ambient light mode you've chosen? It seems small, but that's actually pretty cool if that's what's happening.
Is there an easily accessible button somewhere in the Polestar 4 to disable all at once the driving assistance features you don't want? Because these intrusive surveillance, beeps and alerts of all kinds are now required by EU law to being reset and 'ON' after reboot, which makes driving a modern car a plague.
Apple CarPlay is cool. But Android Auto > Android Automotive. I do not want to "stream" everything or use Bluetooth for my local music NOR do I want to install apps on my car. Apple gets an out because they are Apple. But Polestar (Volvo) needs to fix this.
Android automotive is alright. But I do agree with you. It'd be nice to play downloaded podcasts. GM fixes this by giving you unlimited streaming for 8 years
💯. I love being able to pull up whatever I want to listen to via the interface coming from my phone so that I can have continuity later on when I am continuing that podcast while I am on a walk for example. I don't want to have to have multiple places where I'm keeping track of where I left off, and I most definitely do not want to be Bluetooth streaming ANYTHING to my car from my phone like it's 2004 (*cough Tesla *cough)
@@willsmith2930Not for everyone. The apps I use with CarPlay are not available on Android. Nor does is have continuity my with my family’s Apple devices.

@@stefanfalldorf6573 Android Automotive is an OS for car infotainment systems, Android Auto is an application that runs on the car's infotainment OS and enables control over key android phone features from the infotainment screen. Android auto =/= Android Automotive
@@stefanfalldorf6573yes, Android automotive is an automotive infotainment OS, but Android auto is different, it's a sw like Apple car play that runs on the infotainment OS to link your phone to the car. They are different, and Android auto support is important to me as I prefer Android phones.
The old looking huge bezel tablet in Polestar 2 is terrible to use and right out of 2015. Rivian and Tesla had it right when they switched to horizontal layout.

Looking forward to the full review from the best in the business!
Any plans on doing a software comparison with the Polestar 3? I'd love to see this type of deeper dive on that software
I wish there was a hardware upgrade option for the Polestar 2 to get all these new features; I'd gladly pay for such a thing.
At the end of the video, the car understood “set my ambience to son”, not sun, that’s maybe why it didn’t comply

Horizontal screens are always better.
Landscape ftw!

Android automotive is worlds better than car play and android auto. You're connected directly to the car

Can the google map be shown on the instrument cluster screen?
Can you let us know if it has android auto (wireless or wired phone connection, not the car OS)?
Thank you for the detail, very helpful!
It has wireless android auto and apple car play.
The car OS is named Android Automotive.

It’s Google navigation
So…..Tesla? Rivian? Even Toyota?
This is the only good-looking Polestar, simply because of its horizontal center display.
Vertical display is clumsy and impractical.

Carplay and Android auto should be full screen. Not with a stupid bar going around it. I don't want to see any part of the cars stock infotainment
Chinese now using Google.
