Hey all, so my wife decided to make this and they are amazing! We had to sub out a few things because of what we had on hand though. First we used 1lb of store bought Chuck roast subbed the prosciutto for 4 strips of bacon and followed the rest of the recipe and got 14 (large-ish) meatballs. For the sauce we used the recommended amout of bacon and it ended up being a little too oily (probably because of the bacon in the meatballs) but to help thicken it up added a small can of tomatoe sauce. We also subbed the canned diced tomatoes for ones with green hatch chilies... we decided to do this after having a fire house meatball sub and honestly this version was so much better then anything either of us have had in the past. Highly recommend

I always hated going to subway on my limited 30 min lunch cause the person ahead of me would either not know what they want or they would get a sub and want every single vegetable on it. First off does that even taste good and 2nd the thing can’t close and be cut properly and I have seen people ask the sandwich artist make it again cause it got too messy. I also hate when they are getting more than one cause they are getting one for themselves and someone else and the pull out “the list”, a very detailed list of everything they wanted and the order it must go in. Also when the person working has to make several peoples order behind you to minimize throwing out gloves when all you want to do is pay and get eating lunch. Basically, the entitlement of subway customers turned me off going there some time ago.

I made his recipe and literally everyone that tried them said they were the best donuts they'd ever had. I've made it 3 times since then and they're always a huge hit
I got a stand mixer.... SO I CAN BE BETTER (and they’re fun) Also, as someone who worked at a subway as her first job in high school, this gives me flash backs to when I would have to make all the bread and do prep at 6 am.... not fun and who ever made that sandwich did you so dirty but maybe that’s just the perfectionist in me...
Aye, subway's meatball subs are always going to be a bit soggy due to the soft, untoasted nature of the exposed bread surfaces, but the employee here clearly didn't have any care left in them, if they ever did.
Tjaša Zornik yeah they would all come frozen in little thin logs. It would take hours to proof them and then bake them all but I’d say that was probably the most fun of all the prep that had to be done haha

It's so weird to see the difference in quality from fastfood companies in the US compared to the Netherlands. Subway is actually really decent here, the bread is tasty and crisp, people handle the food with care and they have some excellent subs here. Looking at this video's sub almost made me hurl it back at the guy who sold it to you, at the thought of having to eat that compared to what we get here. I mean, sure it's still fastfood so it's definitely not anywhere near the standards you present us with, but looking at all these videos you've shared with us really makes me feel grateful that I don't live in the US for fastfood. XD
Yeah Canadian Subway is really damn good for fast food. Hell I'd even take Subway over some non-fast food restaurants. I remember talking to some Americans once and having them universally agree that Subway was trash and I couldn't figure out why until I saw what American Subway was actually like. Makes me really grateful for the half decent quality we get out of our Subways even if it means we miss out on some fast food restaurants/menu items that I'd like to try (In n Out, McRib, etc.).
This. Same thing in Germany actually, even stuff like McDonalds is usually decent enough to eat and doesnt look anywhere near as dreadful as the stuff Josh keeps dragging in.
You deserve a prize for puting the pieces together! I felt like something familiar was playing, but I couldn't quite put my finger on it. Thank you! Hahahah
I don't think Josh needs to do this, because it's pretty basic to do yourself. 1) deep fry a wing, 2) put your own sauce on it. You need him to tell you how to make Honey BBQ? "Take BBQ sauce, add honey to it" = boom.
I love how every time her girlfriend taste tests his food, she either finishes the food or just comes back while he’s doing the endcard, takes the food and leaves. THAT’S SOME GOALS RIGHT THERE!
I was teaching my mom how to use my smart tv youtube app, when we saw one of your videos, the 2 dollars sandwich, then we played the chipotle burrito, it was amazing how you were making harina tortillas so naturally (we are from were those were invented, Sonora, Mexico), everything in your cooking and videos look so natural, she didn't catch all the jokes you at on the edition but those are really smooth, and here I am watching the third in a row, we love your work :)
If yall got a local bakery just go there in the morning to buy some great fresh bread, the bread usually isnt expensive and its great, my bakery is opened by 5:30am and they got donuts and endless bread.
Stoked that i came across this channel, as a cook myself who also used to work in the industry. Your love of the food and humor speak to my soul haha keep up the videos my dude!
Made the bread at home. Used his garlic butter recipe and topped with Parmesan and oh my god, amazing. Put some ham and provolone in it and that’s my lunchbox star for college
I think you and I have VERY different definitions as to what a "handful" of salt is. Have you ever stuck your hand inside a pile of snow, and grabbed a handful of snow? Now, take a cup of salt, PINCH 3 to 4 fingers in, close them together. Voila, a pinch of salt.
That seems really good, though, having worked at Subway(and tried to recreate the bread at home), I can tell that with that whole bread recipe, you could make like 5 footlong breads. Subway bread « stick » would weight like 170 grams(and I think that they have about 2x the amount of yeast). The sandwich looks really good, but that’s so much bread.
idk y but i laughed so hard when he was mocking the subway lady and he said, "you want it toasted" lmao it sounded like the old guy nanny from shrek XD
I don't know if there were no but cheaper videos when you commented, but his but cheaper videos are still better than the fast food version. I mean he wouldn't make cheaper food without making it better.
ive only had one subway my whole life and i forgot the thing i ordered but when i bit into it, it was the most heavenly thing I've tasted at that time. The sandwich artîst that made my sandwich took pride in her work. I want a subway now. 😔
I think that is how Subway was when it first came out eons ago but now it's got employees who act like you're inconveniencing them when you come in to order and the end result is 🤢
I think you missed one aspect. subway bread is always soft, which I like and which is also a very destinctive key aspect of subway. That soggy mess you had was one of the worst I have seen. but I usually eat in anyways. Any chance of having a soft bread recipe? But yours looks great like always. :)

subway meatball sub slaps, and I've tried many. For what it is, it rocks. ESPECIALLY when you figure out what weird combo of veggies you want on it. Pickles.
I put pickles and ranch. 🤤. They always give me weird looks.
When’s the rematch with Krispee Kreme happening??
He can't do better for that one.
@@aamenahm174 lmao
The rematch is dumb. People were just complaining that he made the donut holes too big. Such a minor thing to demand a redo
The Beard Aficionado no, we were complaining that it didn’t look anything like that style of doughnut. It was much denser and more cakelike
I made his recipe and literally everyone that tried them said they were the best donuts they'd ever had. I've made it 3 times since then and they're always a huge hit

Aye, subway's meatball subs are always going to be a bit soggy due to the soft, untoasted nature of the exposed bread surfaces, but the employee here clearly didn't have any care left in them, if they ever did.
@@Furthea2 they aren't soggy
m.th-cam.com/video/c7tDhJgxytE/w-d-xo.html
artgirlerina how was the bread made? Did you get them frozen and ready for the oven?
if I'm getting meatball at subway, i always apologize and ask if they don't mind toasting the bread before the meatballs go on. much less soggy.
Tjaša Zornik yeah they would all come frozen in little thin logs. It would take hours to proof them and then bake them all but I’d say that was probably the most fun of all the prep that had to be done haha
Me watching him make the bread: so... I'm buying the bread

I used to work at Subway back in high school. Can confirm this is true.

XD
Compensatie voor het feit dat we geen chick-fil-a hebben enzo
yeah same situatiuon in Russia. Mcdonalds here actually feels like a restaraunt lmao. when I saw american fastfood for the first time I was terrified
Same in the UK. The subways here are very good
Made these today for hot or cold subs for dinner. Omg the bread 🤤🤤 Thank you!!

For the first time, I thought “I hope Josh has a Subway sandwich but better” video. AND HE DOES!!!

Made the bread at home. Used his garlic butter recipe and topped with Parmesan and oh my god, amazing. Put some ham and provolone in it and that’s my lunchbox star for college
There seems to be an occuring theme with professional cooks on youtube where they describe a handful of salt as a" pinch of salt"
Well a pinch is an actual measurement that’s about the amount of salt most chefs use
If Joshua was your dad:
"Dad can we get subway"
"We have subway at home"
Subway at home:
I agree, i made it for 4 servings and although it was delicious it was hard to finish because of the bread.
Any sandwich you get at ANY fastfood joint has too much bread. At least Joshua's sandwich actually has some decent amount of beef, cheese, etc.
Fun Fact, Sometimes we get the Salsa and the Marina sauce packets mixed up. hence "Hot Salsa". (Actual Subway Employee)
idk y but i laughed so hard when he was mocking the subway lady and he said, "you want it toasted" lmao it sounded like the old guy nanny from shrek XD

I think you missed one aspect. subway bread is always soft, which I like and which is also a very destinctive key aspect of subway. That soggy mess you had was one of the worst I have seen. but I usually eat in anyways. Any chance of having a soft bread recipe? But yours looks great like always. :)
Agreed
I guess just dont toast it as much/often

Also I’d like to see how his sub holds up after being tightly wrapped and held in a small bag for half an hour
