    My favorites of his roles are: Don't Look Now, Hunger Games, Invasion of the Body Snatchers, Ordinary People, and (I know it was a "payday" film, but he still brought it) Italian Job. He was one of my favorites. I appreciate your tribute to this great actor.

      Thanks, Katie. Fine mentions there, which I agree with and perhaps Ordinary People being my very favorite of his performances. I didn’t mention the 2003 Italian Job but funnily enough followed up recently with another tribute video, to writer Troy Kennedy Martin, who wrote the original Italian Job screenplay. Thanks for watching

    I watched Klute the day the he passed in his honor and i had forgotten how much I love it. I think as a change of pace, next will be Animal House... He will definitely be missed.

      Social media has been replaying some great interviews with him from over the years, and his great personality really shines through. Nice at a time like this to revisit some of his filmography

    Hi Neil, That was a very nice tribute to Donald Sutherland. I was sad to hear he had died. My favorite movies he was in were, Invasion of the Body Snatchers and The Leisure Seeker. I think you would like The Leisure Seeker. I enjoyed this video lots!

    Hi mate
    Sad to hear of Donald Sutherland passing.
    Eye of the Needle seen it years back it’s been on my list to pick up on Blu ray for awhile. Loved Invasion of The Body Snatchers.

      Thanks, Deon. Yes, Body Snatchers is terrific. I wished I loved Eye of the Needle more but it has still been one I rewatch every few years. Thanks for watching

    Another great one away. It sucks getting old and seeing creative people you admire leaving us but at least they live forever unlike us, as we are just dust in the wind. Versatility, unconventional, quirky and always worth watching, regardless of the quality of the film. He even plays Jesus in Johnny got his gun. Unconventional Jesus of course. Excellent work sir as always with your tribute videos.

      Thanks very much, Ronin. I watched Johnny Got His Gun last night, quite an unusual film, it wasn’t quite what I thought it would be. He seemed so well suited appearing as Christ at that card table. Great scene later on between him and Timothy Bottoms discussing whether he was in a dream or not.

    Hello Neil. A great tribute to a great man. Don't talk now is a boring choice but probably my favourite film of his. I really need to watch Klute. That's one that's passed me by.

      @neilsmoviechannel3199  21 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Hi Roy. Not a boring choice at all, Don’t Talk Now is a film you can get something different from each time. Klute is also unconventional but in a different way. Definitely worth watching as is Ordinary People. Thanks for watching

    What an impact he had on cinema a true loss. In my life I’ve never really been bothered by loss of actors or actresses so many great films that they will live on for ever in a way, but so far hearing this news and a few years ago hearing about Carrie Fisher those did effect me a bit. Don’t look know is never talked about. I have Klute on order just because Jane Fonda didn’t even realize Sutherland was in it, happy surprise. I missed eye of the needle read the book years ago that was great I’ll have to add it to the wishlist. Excellent tribute!

    You highlighted many of the performances that I think about when I think of Donald Sutherland. I remember liking Eye of the Needle when it came out but will have to watch it again to see if I still find it satisfying. One of my favorite scenes with him is from The Dirty Dozen where he is posing as an officer and interviewing the troops. It's amazing that he was never nominated for an Oscar. Take care.

      Hi Randy. Yes, Eye of the Needle is a funny one for me , I keep returning to it but am always a bit disappointed. But Sutherland is great…..Yes, surprising that he has not been nominated despite being in Oscar winning movies. Thanks for watching

    Wonderful tribute to a wonderful actor, Neil! Johnny Got His Gun is, as I remember it, devastating, but definitely worth seeing. I saw it once, back when it first came to theaters. The Leisure Seeker is quite good, and the two stars work well together. Of course, I love Invasion of the Body Snatchers and Ordinary People. He was also very good in a comedy called Little Murders in 1971. Have you ever seen him in Castle of the Living Dead, a 1964 Italian horror film which starred Christopher Lee? Also very much worth checking out.

    • @neilsmoviechannel3199

      Hi Mike. Thanks very much. I watched Johnny Got His Gun last night. A powerful film and not quite what I thought it would be (not that I really knew). Sutherland makes quite the impression as a relaxed Christ playing cards and has an impressive scene later on in the movie talking to Timothy Bottoms’ character…..I love Body Snatchers too but am glad to hear you also love Ordinary People. Dramas seem to be less popular amongst most but the performances in this one are so good and it’s really emotional…..I have seen Little Murders (and have a copy), one I need to give another go as I wasn’t over keen first time around. No, I haven’t seen Castle of the Living Dead, I will look for it. Thanks for your comments

    Hi Neil, my daughter casually dropped this news into the conversation and it knocked me for six, understandably she wasn’t that familiar with his body of work, I grew up watching Donald’s films, he had great screen presence and was always memorable. I was really hoping that you would put together a tribute video. For me his role as “Oddball” in Kelly’s Heroes was the performance that made me take notice of his acting. Take care mate 👍😃👍

    Another fantastic tribute Neil, you always do such a brilliant job with them! I'm a huge fan of Donald Sutherland, particularly over the last few year I've delved more into his filmography and it's been amazing to see what an incredibly compelling actor he was.
    I thoroughly enjoyed Klute, and I think you are spot on saying his ability to not outshine his co-star is incredibly impressive, and instead he elevates them. Also I'm so glad you mentioned Eye of the Needle which I think is my favourite film of his, though such a shame it didn't connect with you as much. The brutality of it just really shocked me when I saw it. He just embodies this essence that he'll do absolutely anything and everything to succeed in his mission, and the number of bodies in his wake, particularly ones that I wouldn't have imagined would die, kept me absolutely hooked. Great performance from him. Ordinary People and The Puppet Masters are definitely ones on my list, and I'm keen to see The Eagle Has Landed too. I read the book a couple years ago and loved it, but I wanted to give it a chunk of time so I wouldn't compare them too much.

      Hi Warren. Thanks for watching and for your great comments. Funnily, Eye of the Needle may be one of my most watched Sutherland movies, perhaps more out of frustration with myself as each time I want to love it more than I do. I know I’ll still return to it…..I haven’t read the book of The Eagle Has Landed but the film for sure is exciting and entertaining. Sutherland has a good role in it but be prepared for his accent!

    Great tribute Neil, I enjoyed Eye of the needle even though it slows down a bit when he gets to the island. One of My favourite war films is The Eagle has landed and its a film i think he steels the show in, Just picked up the U.K Steelbook which includes the directors cut that i have never seen. Puppet masters is not a bad film and worth a watch, could be wrong but i'm sure its based on Invasion of the bodysnatchers, Thanks buddy.

      Thanks very much. Yes, I’ve watched Eye of the Needle several times but just can never quite love it…but I know I’ll return to it again. I should have mentioned The Eagle Has Landed as I do really enjoy that one. He’s great in it despite a questionable accent. Puppet Masters is adapted from a Robert A Heinlein story whereas Body Snatchers is adapted from a novel by Jack Finney. But it does sound as though they share some similar ideas. I will watch it soon

    Nice memorial video Neil but no mention of The Eagle Has Landed!? Great entertaining WWII film with Donald Sutherland playing an Irish nazi sympathiser.
    Invasion Of The Bodysnatchers is my favourite Donald Sutherland film. Great paranoia sci-fi.
    Plays a great baddie as the prison warden in Lock Up too.
    Totally in agreement with you that he elevated any movie he appeared in.

    He was really good in "Eagle Has Landed," and I just saw him in "Time to Kill." His film list is fun to read, people forget he was in Animal House and he even made an appearance in Beerfest. I had high hopes for the puppetmasters, but it was terrible.

    • @neilsmoviechannel3199
      @neilsmoviechannel3199  21 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hi. Yes, you don’t automatically think of Donald Sutherland as a comedy actor but he had a great run of comedic performances especially early in his career with the likes of Kelly’s Heroes, MASH and Animal House. Eagle Has Landed is really entertaining. I enjoyed A Time To Kill when I saw it at the cinema but have only rewatched it once and that was years ago. I have it on dvd so time soon for a rewatch. I’ll get to Puppet Masters shortly. Thanks for your comments
