Would you explain me routing - should I place The Masker on Kick track (for example) or on Bass track if I'm gonna have surpressed bass signal while kick is sounding?
I would not use the Masker for kick and bass. Just use a simple dynamic eq. In any case, you can insert the Masker in the bass track, send the kick in sidechain and, if you want the bass to be more present in your song, use "reveal masked freq". This will bring out those frequencies that the kick is masking on the bass. I suggest you to watch my second video on this plugin where I explain everything more in detail: th-cam.com/video/aDoqALthZfk/w-d-xo.html
Hey there, thanks for your comment! I learned that the "stereo link" allows you to change the audio processing from stereo to dual mono. If masking occurs on either channel, the Masker will equalizes that channel only (stereo link all to the left).
This is a guess, but I would say the stereo link allows for treatment to be the same on both sides to maintain stereo image. The same control is found in some compressors.
Hey, thanks for your comment! I think you're right. Listening carefully I noticed that the stereo image changed a bit when I used stereo link. Presumably a different eq curve is applied by default for left and right channels.
Yeah the stereo link works on the whole signal, rather than dual mono, left and right independent. To elaborate on this, let say you want to use that on a full mix, mastering. And you have an issue with something panned hard right or left, then switching to dual mono, you can treat that independently of the the other channel. Baring in mind it's a dynamics processor that plugin.
I guess 'stereo link' paramiter that work when use stereo sourses. and position of it define how L&R channels will be process - identically or individualy
The stereo will be widening the sound. For example say you have a mono bass some plugins let you widen the sound so sounds stereo, then anything above bass it should widen the sound more than you can with panning

I probably just have to try this plugin for myself, but I am a bit confused on what you said about the "Clean Up" slider. You said that it will affect "mid-side" to the right and the "low end" to the left. I'm confused because I never thought a single slider would blend between M/S processing and Low End. Are you trying to say that the slider is mixing between Mid and the Sides? Is it a sidechain EQ? I'm very curious because I think the only thing this plugin lacks is a way to switch between Mid-Side and Stereo processing (applying the effect on just the Mid, without affecting the sides, is very handy for unmasking mono vocals against a stereo track) like Trackspacer. In any case, I'll just try it out for myself and experiment on it. Thanks for the video. EDIT: Upon watching more of the video, it seems that the "Clean Up" slider is controlling the number of bands. The more it is to the left, the wider the effect, however it is biased quite a bit to the low end. I guess what you meant to say in your explanation of the slider is "Mid Frequencies", not "Mid-Side"? Slide to the right focuses on the Mid frequencies, while to the left it adds more bands towards the low end.
Hi Anton, you are right, the Clean Up fader determines the number of bands! Sorry for my English, but I got confused. What I was trying to say was "Mid Frequencies" and not "Mid side". Thank you for bringing this to my attention and for taking the time to write this comment. 🙏

Exactly, the working principle is the same. Both work with a sidechain signal to identify and correct any masking frequencies. The Fuser has a few more features, such as mid-side processing and phase rotation (to compensate for phase cancellation). And if I understand correctly, the Fuser also allows you to switch from zero-latency eq to linear phase eq. Pretty cool :)
For crackling noises use it only in 44.1 Khz projects. If you are using it on FL Studio unfortunately there is not much you can do (other users have reported problems with that daw). @@SoundCodex FL Studio , Sample rate 44100. When I apply it on any sound, a lot of spikes start coming along with that sound, just like triggering impulses in the covolver of FL Studio.
Is TheMasker plugin free for commercial use?
Yes it is, you can use it in all kind of music productions!
Interesting. Thank you
Hi, how many simultaneous tracks it can ummask this Masker tool ? Cheers
It depends, if you insert the Masker on a bus track it will unmask the sum of multiple tracks. I made a better video to show how to use it, check it out: th-cam.com/video/aDoqALthZfk/w-d-xo.html
@@SoundCodex Many thanks for a quick response. I want to let you know that I am a hobbist. Just moment ago I watched one of your video tutorial about the Masker and I have some idea of how I could do it differently ;). I thought that I could use masker for every pair of tracks tonidentify the masked frequency range of the spectrum and then apply for instance TDR Nova eq while automating the attenuated frequency range according to the situation. I am not sure this is easy and if it would work.
@@TunesFromKeys No worries, thank you for the comment! If I understood correctly, you don't need the TDR Nova, just use the Masker to reveal masked frequencies. A quick tip: before dealing with masked frequencies, try using a simple eq, most of the time it will solve the problem haha. Fifty years years ago mixing engineers did not have sophisticated tools, but they knew how to record instruments properly and use "standard" equalizers/compressors. Have fun with your sound experiments!
@@SoundCodex Yeap, thanks for the info. The problem is that there is a lot of tools available but the clue I think is to use some of them correctly. The masked frequencies you have shown in the tutorial just with the use of the spectrum analyzer. Thus may be it's a sufficient tool to use for the sake of identifying masked frequencies.
Reaper has a dynamic eq by sc like soothe with reaq but this still easy to use.
it has??
@@RafaelSantos_ still have it, configurate pin conectors and send it to the track you wanna eq by side chain.
@@michaelf.6569 aaah so its ReaEQ with sidechain, its a good free option to emulate Soothe fx, but it is precise like that or this masker? Or its more like TDR Nova?
@@RafaelSantos_like nova you have to adjust frequencies manually unfortnately
YO ! I'm on macOs and I can't download it cuz its not identified ! Someone can help me please ?
Check out this video: th-cam.com/video/c07Z4hcti84/w-d-xo.htmlfeature=shared
omg tysm dude!
I downloaded the plugin and installed it. However, when opening up the plugin, it automatically introduced distorted audio! Is there anyone that can help?
What sampling rate does your project have?
@@SoundCodex Currently using Fl and it’s at 44100
@@SoundCodex Currently using Fl and it’s at 44100
It nearly teared apart my speakers with bombing noise when I tried to use it in FL studio :/
I've heard from other FL Studio users who have experienced the same problem. Will point it out to the developers! Thanks
@@SoundCodex Ah I didn't know that, thanks for the kind words! I'm looking forward to try it agatin after it's updated in the future.
@@backup7305 I'm looking forward to it too! Anyway, in case you want to try again make sure to load the plugin on a 44.1kHz project.
@@SoundCodex I posted a question on KVR and got advised to check 'use fixed size buffer' in the vst settings(wrapper). It fixed the problem for now. fyi.
@@backup7305 how did you do it exactly?
Must be used with caution. We can hear some unpleasant artifacts that sound like aliasing.
Hi, please keep in mind that this is a beta version. We'll have to wait for an updated version to use this plugin in all its glory. In the meantime, I invite you to stay tuned to the channel... as soon as I have any information I will make a new video!
very interesting
The link does not lead to the plugin. Can you resend the proper link?
Hi, the link works perfectly. You may want to try with a different browser.
@@SoundCodex Why is it I'm not apple to install it after downloading it on my Mac. Not seeing a dmg file in the download folder
Song name?
Unfortunately not useable in logic x. Too much latency.
What a pity! Thanks for your feedback.
it has a trojan??? wow
not good in fl studio
Thanks for your feedback. Reading your comments, it seems that other users have experienced glitches running this plugin on FL!
@@SoundCodex when you load the plugin makes terrible glitch and if your speakers or your headphones are bit loud it is not pleasant experience
I don't hear any difference at all.
I made better audio examples in this video: th-cam.com/video/aDoqALthZfk/w-d-xo.htmlfeature=shared
Anyone have problem with compability with Logic Pro X? Logic detect the plugin as virus :/ First time ine my life seeing something like this :/
It’s free, but it sounds like a Phaser effect… 😂 Probably because… it’s free.
I know haha, version 1.1 had this problem. A few days ago version 1.2 was released and they should have fixed these phase problems :)
This is acting like a soothe alternative
Kind of... keep in mind that this is still a beta version. Further adjustments will be necessary to consider it a true alternative to other plugins.
I really love Spectral Compressor as a 16,000 band de-esser/de-harsher
anyone else downloaded this and tried it? (mainly referring to Mac users)
Cool idea, but it phases a hell lot
It is not the plugin! There are two vocal takes playing simultaneously and I forgot to mute one of them 😩 Thank you for pointing this out to me.
@glebprokudin2000, I cannot let you get away with that comment. Nope; it's not true simply because it's your soundsource that's the problem, I checked my separate stems in REAPER, and I used MetricAB in Correlation mode to check for that OOP (out-of-phase/anti-phasing) and it stays above 0, man. Use the M/S module in bx_masterdesk PRO or LeapWingAudio's StageOne v2 to Mono Spread all three major frequency bands to 50% capacity and dial back on the Width part and watch your material stay in phase/positive correlation while having The Masker plugin sidechained on the Master bus.
