@@reactswithjax If you want the whole story:
It was the Romans who named the weekdays. Sun(day), Moon(day), Mars (Tuesday), Mercury (Wednesday), Jupiter (Thursday), Venus (Friday), and Saturn (Saturday). But the Vikings changed the names to honor their gods instead, so Mars became Tyrs-day, Mercury became Odins-day, Jupiter became Thors-day, and Venus became Friggs-day. Saturday became Laug-day, which translates to Bath-day. The Vikings were known to be very clean and actually took baths once a week, while also combing their hair and beards often.
If you're wondering about the name Wednesday, it comes from an older dialect called Germanic, that predates Old Norse, which eventually turned into the three Scandinavian dialects; Danish, Norwegian and Swedish. In North Germanic the name for Odin was Wodan, so Wodan-day became Wednesday. Saturday is of curse just the name Saturn-day that was used instead of Bath-day, but in Scandinavian we still use variations of the old spellings, so Tirs-day, Ons-day, Tors-day, Fri-day, and Lør-day (Laug-day).

There's a lot of good stuff in this movie. And watching a reaction video emphasizes that - because when you edit down a full-length reaction, you naturally take out the uninteresting stuff. The reason (as far as I can tell) why this is considered the worst of the first three Thor movies is because of the main villain - he's just so generic and forgettable. Mindlessly evil for evil's sake. Like he was board and just decided to turn the universe back to darkness just for something to do. No back story, no reason behind his goals. I don't even remember his name. Looking it up again, it's "Malekith", but by the time I finish typing this sentence, I will have forgotten his name again. That's how forgettable he is.

Another excellent and engaging REACTION, good lady. I've experienced so many other channels that disengagingly are more running commentary RESPONDING than REACTION.
As you, many are conflicted but none the less enamored of mischievous Loki, all simp for the imp.
One thing you misinterpreted about Loki's consideration of his mother Frigga in his prison cell interaction, was due to you not registering her name when Odin's imprisonment sentencing of him included never seeing Frigga again:
    Loki: "He's not my Father!'
Frigga:(heartfelt) "Then am I not your mother?"
    Loki: (matter-of-factly)"You're not."
Loki reaches out to touch Frigga, she luminesces and dissolves away.
Loki wasn't referring to Frigga not being his actual mother, only that with which he was presently interacting not being his actual mother, just a projection of her from elsewhere. Because Loki knew his mother's fidelity to Odin's wishes was absolute and would never outright violate his visitation restriction, and that she was using her witchcraft to circumvent Odin to comfort her condemned beloved son.

      @bobogus7559 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@NeverKilledHillock What you're describing is terminal velocity, the maximum speed a falling object reaches in a fluid (like Earth's atmosphere). This is purely the result of drag caused by air resistance - a feather has a far lower terminal velocity than a rock, for example, due to its aerodynamic properties. But in a vacuum, all objects would fall at the same rate and constantly accelerate until they reached the speed of light (assuming they could travel infinite distance toward the center of gravity, which would be possible in an infinite loop between two nearby portals).

Also, people use their own knives, in the olden times, to cut their food and stab other people and such. Again, we got more civilized, so everytime you sit down your knife is placed with the blade facing inward not outward.

The MCU translated the Nine Realms of Norse mythology as nine different planets which were accessible via BiFrost portals. And the two realms with extreme temperatures you're thinking of were Jotunheim (land of the Frost Giants, which we saw in the first Thor movie) and Muspelheim, a fiery realm ruled by the demon Surtur.

    • @PhilBagels
      @PhilBagels ปีที่แล้ว +1

It may be a bit different. In the Norse mythology books that I've read, there's
Jotunheim - the home of the frost giants, but also
Niflheim - the world of ice - which is a different place, that his combined with Hel (or Hell) the realm of the dead.
Muspelheim - the world of fire, where the fire giants live, under their "king", Surtur.
      Midgard - Earth - that's us.
Asgard - home of the Aesir gods (Odin, Thor, Heimdall, Tyr, Balder, Sif, etc.
Vanaheir - home of the Vanir gods (Frey and Freya, and others, sort of "nature spirits" perhaps slightly "lesser" gods, but friendly with the Aesir)
Alfheim - home of the elves (or "light elves")
Svartalheim - home of the dark elves. Also called Nidavelir - and "dark elves" is translated as "dwarves".
Gimle - the "High Heaven", the ultimate paradise.
Valhalla is not one of the nine realms. It's a great hall located in Asgard. Where slain warriors go. They practice fighting all day, then feast and come back to life each morning - all in preparation for "Ragnarok" the Norse mythology ultimate showdown between good and evil.

Hey Jax! Love your reactions. The hammer can only be lifted by someone who is "worthy". The definition of worthy is debatable but it comes down to willingness to sacrifice oneself to save others and doing so from a place of humility. Thor in the first movie was arrogant and a warmonger. So, he wasn't worthy until he was sent to earth without his powers and what happened there happened.

Some Marvel movies are homages to classic film genres. Ant-Man is a heist movie. Spider-Man: Homecoming is a John Hughes teen comedy. Captain America: The Winter Soldier is a 1970s political thriller. To get into the proper mood before watching CA:TWS, watch not the movie but the modernized trailer for THREE DAYS OF THE CONDOR (1975) | 4K Restoration | Official Trailer |
The fight choreography and practical stunts in CA:TWS are the best of all Marvel Movies. It was directed by the Russo brothers, who had previously been known for the offbeat TV comedy series Arrested Development and Community. Their work in CA:TWS was so impressive they were brought back to direct three of the biggest Marvel movies.
Pay attention at the beginning of CA:TWS when Steve Rogers keeps saying "on your left". That same simple line will have tremendous emotional impact at a key moment in a later Avengers movie that was also directed by the Russo brothers.

I found this to be a good movie. Never understood the hate towards it. The story with its twists was likable and I enjoyed it. And I was absolutely blown away by that reveal at the end, with Loki taking over Asgard's throne. A decent Marvel movie which introduced some new exciting things and set up some new exciting things for the future...
18:53 You called it! it's refreshing seeing someone trying to figure this type of stuff out just like we did when the movie came out
29:14 If you remember, Thor and Loki used the Tesseract at the end of The Avengers to return to Asgard, so they mentioned the Tesseract during their brainstorming as a means of travel
Fun fact: For the second post-credits scene, Natalie Portman wasn't available on set on the day to shoot the scene with Chris Hemsworth, so he got his wife actress Elsa Pataky to play Jane for that one scene as it was shot from behind Jane. So in this scene 52:33 Thor's actually kissing his irl wife, which I think is very cute
So next up... Captain America The Winter Soldier, this is hands down the best action movie Marvel has ever made to date. It's just so, so good! Looking forward to your reaction to it, as things only get better from this point on!!

Still loving your MCU reactions. You bring so much energy and humour, you had me chuckling a lot -- not least of all at your reaction to the way the movie ended 😁 And your captions and edits are great. I highly respect someone who can snark at herself the way you do!
The insight you showed near the start of the film was impressive, wondering about a connection between the Aether and the Tesseract. As you found out during the mid-credits scene, they're two things of the same sort, namely Infinity Stones. You mentioned astutely that they don't look like stones, but there's a reason for that. All will become clear in time.
To answer a few of your questions: Prior to the escape from Asgard, Thor and his friends mentioned the Tesseract. That's because it can open portals through vast distances of space. It's what Thor used at the end of "Avengers" to transport himself and Loki back to home. So Odin locked it up during this story to prevent any unauthorized departures. As for what the Collector collects, the simple answer is: Everything. If he finds it especially rare or of interest to himself, he will add it to his vault. And yes, that includes keeping living and intelligent beings in cages.
Great work, Jax. Keep it up!

Jax just to make your MCU journey a little more fun, aside from Stan Lee cameos, you should also be on the lookout for Infinity Stones when watching MCU movies, some of the movies have at least one infinity stone each and some don't. ( not gonna tell what/which MCU movies)
These infinity stones are the most powerful items in the Universe, only beings that are powerful can wield them and possess their powers.
A lot of times these stones don't appear as stones or sometimes they do look like stones but are hidden within an item (kinda like Horcruxes from Harry Potter).
if someone finds all 6 infinity stones, he/she is the most powerful being in the universe and can do whatever he/she wants. which is why they say it is very bad to have infinity stones too close to each and that they must be scattered throughout the universe to the point that it is impossible for them to be found or collected.
no one knows what the stones look like now or how they end up where they are now. all anyone who knows about them is they have been here since the beginning and the important thing is that they are scattered throughout the universe
we already have the Tesseract which was introduced in the First Captain America Movie and also played a huge role in the Avengers Movie, and now we have the Aether which was introduced in this movie. so that's 2 down and 4 more to go.
The 6 Infinity Stones Are Knowns As:
    Space Stone - The Tesseract
    Reality Stone - The Aether
    Soul Stone - ?
    Mind Stone - ?
    Time Stone - ?
    Power Stone - ?
dont wanna spoil the rest of the movies to you so its up to you to find out and learn about the other 4 infinity stones which will be introduced in some of the MCU movies you haven't seen yet. So have FUN.

With regards to the Tesseract/Ether question. The Tesseract in addition to being a power source of unlimited energy also can create portals to anywhere in the universe. The Ether, also a source of energy, has the ability to alter reality for whoever wields it.
The reason Kurse ignored Loki and left him in his cell was because he considered him an Asgardian and thus an enemy of the Dark Elves. He did not know that Loki was actually a Jotun. Pronounced Yoh-tun. 😊

Jaaaaax! I’m super glad you enjoyed this one! When it came out, a lot of people were very upset, saying that it was the worst Marvel movie. And for a long time… For many people… It was voted the worst. But without any spoilers, Marvel goes through great lengths in the future to keep tying this movie into other things and referencing it and making it important. Now- for a lot of people I feel like it has grown in popularity and importance!
I cannot wait for the next one! As I’ve told you before, it’s by far my favorite! And knowing how much you love, Steve, I’m sure you’ll love it too! 💙

I've never understood the hate towards Thor TDW. I loved it then and still do. It takes a more serious approach towards the character, which he needs, especially after they ruined him in Love & Thunder.

@@Astro95Media I seriously can’t view it in one go, I get so bored and disinterested, but I’m glad other people enjoyed it, that’s what movies are for.

I say go for it and binge the marvel series. It helps keep things fresher in mind for your questions and concerns. I also like the text you chose when asking questions like for example are they gods or aliens and settled on alien. While both can be true since they’re somewhat alien to us as we are to them. They consider themselves god’s and we have seen some of their powers so both statements are true for all we know.

Sif is Thor’s wife in Norse mythology. Her main characteristic is her beautiful blond hair, (which represents the color of harvest grain, from the soil fertilized by Thor’s rain storms). MCU Sif is different and has black hair, but there is a funny story where Loki cuts off her hair while she is sleeping and Thor gets pissed. They make a fun reference to it later.

Hey, Jacqueline! CLARIFICATION TO SOME OF YOUR OBSERVATIONS:
    1. The previous CONVERGENCE where Bor thwarted Malekith occurred 5,000 years earlier or 3,000 BCE when Sumeria was flourishing in Mesopotamia on Earth.
    2. JANE was selected at random to be a host for the Aether. It just wanted out. The Stones may have a low-level sentience but picking Jane deliberately would have been counter to its purpose since Thor is in her orbit.
    3. The boy with the truck wasn't performing magic. GRAVITY was variable at the site of the anomaly where the first fissures between Realms were forming.
    4. The BEER BOTTLE was accelerating because it was continuously falling despite disappearing into a tear in space and reappearing from another. The rate of acceleration on Earth is a gravitational constant at 9.8 m/s squared.
    5. The subcutaneous PELLETS that amplified the strength of the Dark Elves to berserker levels were not made of Aether. They were just Svartalfheim tech like the IMPLOSION GRENADES. Their tech may be powered by Aether energy but not composed of the Aether itself in much the same way that the Tesseract's energy powered the weapons used by the Red Skull's troops in "First Avenger". Malekith was empowered by the Aether itself at the end when he was projecting crystalline shafts at Thor and regenerating missing limbs out of Aether-matter!
    6. Kurse left LOKI in his cell because he appears Asgardian and he was uncertain where his loyalties may lay unlike the rest who were off-worlders.
    7. Frigga didn't make Jane vanish from Malekith's grasp. Jane was just an ILLUSION and not in the room at all for her safety.
    8. SIF is Thor's wife in actual Norse mythology. Humans have the lifespan of fruit flies. Sif can afford to wait for the Prince to outgrow his mortal infatuation. In the comics, Sif's spirit temporarily inhabits Jane's body post-Ragnarok giving Jane an intoxicating taste of godhood.
    9. MUSPELHEIM is the fiery Realm of the demon Surtur and NIFLHEIM is the icy Realm of the dead. Both are glimpsed during the Convergence. In the MCU, they're just two of nine planets accessible through the stable Asgardian wormhole called the BIFROST which is actually a rainbow bridge in Norse mythology. The other Realms are ASGARD (home of the Gods), VANAHEIM (home of demi-gods), MIDGARD (home of mankind), ALFHEIM (home of the Elves), SVARTALFHEIM (home of the Dark Elves), NIDAVELLIR (home of the Dwarves) and JOTUNHEIM (home of the Frost-Giants).

I'm pretty sure the Ether didn't choose her, but she found it, because in her search for Thor, she found herself tracking down points where the realms aligned.
