I spoke to you on IG a few days ago about this model, and I took the plunge to purchase it because of the post you made last week. Thank you, it looks simply stunning. It almost seems like I own the real car with how realistic this model looks. And it's EXACTLY the same F40 as Amalgam. The only difference is Amalgam has a better base and comes with a certificate. But it is essentially the same model.
This Ferrari F40 is so beautiful diecast model, but I don't really understand how so expensive and precise diecast model not include any headlight detail. I mean pop-up headlights which can be opened and also highly detailed. For me it is very important that everything works how it should be (like on real car) and because those pop up headlights is one part of car. Even cheaper KYOSHO Ferrari F40 diecast model have pop-up headlights which can be opened. But of course I only like that the pop-up headlights open. For me it's just an important feature, only just for me.
It does look accurate. I have doubts about the Kyosho because their die-cast metal model has inaccuracies and my model started getting paint rashes that I sold it.
I was very impressed with an AB Model of the Ferrari 312P that I bought last year. I've been really wondering about how good this model really is because pictures don't do this model justice. Thanks for this review, Rob!
I looked long for an F40 model. BBR falls short in the wheel detail and accuracy. AB Models F40 was a surprise find and buying from Ari was a breeze as I bought from him before. Definitely my best buy!

Hey Rob, hope you had a lovely Christmas and wish you a very happy new year!! When are you coming back to the Channel? I have watched all your videos twice already. 😅😊👍🏼
Very nice collection I might say. Imagine what these cars will be worth 100 years from now at the Antique Roadshow when none of us are around to see it. Oh, and if you kept the boxes they'd be worth an extra 50k each.
funny story - I bought a model very very similar to this one off of an Facebook ad - bad mistake. it arrived yesterday. nice black box. when open I noticed the driver seat was loose and sitting on top go the passenger seat. turn model over to try to move the seat and the rear spoiler fell off. the tires are plain black &no writing and the well covers look like the belong on a hotwheels toy. I do now own a beautiful black leather base.
@@albertkelly7129 I just ordered one a few days ago for an amazing price ($275) and comes with a base and plexiglass like Rob mentioned mind you! I looked back and forth and found out it was an Amalgam before you guys noticed. The BBR is missing a lot of detail and the way they do their badges is easily recognizable.
Amazing. If only they or another company would branch out and start making models of all the Zonda and Huayra variants. Almost-Real are taking far too long to get theirs to market.
@@traviswalker8933 I found this model is from china. Maybe someone copy the Amalgam verison? Not saying made in china is bad. (frontiart for example) But for a collector's perspective "official licensed" has more collecting value
@@maidoll_fei every premium model is made in China so that doesn't make a difference. I'd be more concerned about the licensing since none of the three brands (BBR, Amalgam and AB) have the Ferrari license. Kyosho had the license back in the day as they sublicensed from Mattel.

@@maidoll_fei older BBR models have the licensing sticker but the newer ones do not as the license is held by May Cheong group. BBR held it for a brief period.
To be honest, the engine doesn´t look good, the resin Kyosho F40 looks better in that area, also has more decals, for example the factory instruction on the windshied and head lights. This one looks more accurate in terms of shape but I dont feel it is the definitive version. I still think the best F40 is the diecast high end series, with all it´s opening parts, number of pieces, full engine detail and pop up head lights.
While all the opening parts are nice, it just doesn't look as good as this Autobarn version. On the diecast Kyosho, the shape of the headlights are off as well.
Looks fantastic. Too bad they were available in such limited quantities only. Which leads me to believe that these are models that were produced for Amalgam, but for some reason didn't make it through QC. Otherwise they surely could have made a few more models? Or is Amalgam 1/18 really overrated, as I've read here and there?
These are made by the Amalgam factory, and yes, it is my belief that these did not pass QC hence why they became available. From what I have seen, the 1/18 Amalgam models are no better quality than BBR models. Very overrated for the price, you are paying extra for the display case and the Ferrari information booklet included.
@@ROBSMODELCARS Thanks a lot for these reviews! They're really helpful. Since the F40 is also my favourite, just for this specific model I'd be willing to fork out more just to get the best possible. The 1/8 Amalgam would be just too much, but a 1/18 Amalgam may be the treat, looking at your other review with the AB/BBR/Kyosho comparison. BBR was a bit disappointing there imho. The Amalgam F40 looks spectacular on pictures, but looking at the Amalgam 1/18 Miura for example, the chrome around the rear fog lights looks a bit unfinished, so having these reviews of actual specimens is great. I also liked the one with the 288 GTO KK-scale/Hotwheels. Glad I did buy the KK-scale. Very nice model for the price.
im afraid im not seeing what your seeing Rob. ive mostly walked away from resins but i made it a mission to source the Kyosho resin F40 as no 1/18 diecast version got the shape and stance right. this one doesnt look anywhere as good as the Kyosho to me ...the front wheels look too far inset the tyres dont look right the rear silver rivets are just plain wrong the mesh surround is all black just as on the Kyosho which also simulates the rivets, the engine looks completely pedestrian compared to the Kyosho. we cant really see but ill take your word the interior might be better but honestly thats the least important part of a resin car. Kyosho version is much better than this to my eyes.
on second look lol this is the same car as the amalgam version. pretty good they can sell the same car for far less but we all know amalgams 1/18 range is sub par and just rides off the name of their superlative 1/8 cars
