It was one of the first switch games I bought (I got the Eevee edition) and I was surprised how close it was to the originals. I should sit down and fully beat it to see all the little changes to the game like you said

I just got to the S. S. Anne, it has been a lot of fun! I even restarted Yellow to play along on both versions.

Absolutely love this game, the main problem with it is the controller accessibility. You can't use pro controllers at all and it's not something people with disabilities can play easily in docked mode. I agree with your sentiments here though, it's an extremely faithful remake and a must have for any pokemon go players!

Great point on accessibility, I’ve only played it with the right Joy Con, I’ve thought about getting the Poké Ball Plus controller….not sure if that would be any better.
