haha I got that book for my 22 month old toddler and he doesn't want a bar of it - I think he knows exactly what it's talking about and he just doesn't want to think about it! Having said that, I'm totally over it and we'll start the night weaning process tonight!
This was such a comforting video for me to find! EBF cosleeping baby is 13 months and still wakes every couple hours to nurse. I struggle immensely because I love cosleeping but I fully wake up every time and it’s hard to fall back asleep, so I’m just exhausted. Will think about introducing this concept to him and see how it goes.. don’t want to stop nursing either! Thanks for sharing your story.
im watching this and similar videos again to prepare to night wean my 13 month old when she is around 18 months. i did this approach with my first daughter around 24 months and she was up for 1 hour the first night, 15 mins the next night, and then she literally never woke up again and shes 4 now. so two years of blissful sleep for all lol
Hey I really resonate with your parenting style.. I will be trying this method of gentle night weaning when my 13 month old is ready. Thank you for sharing! Subscribed
This sounds exactly like my 19 month old! The co sleeping and nursing and the times she wakes up and everything. Except sometimes my toddler will make up more than 3 times and sometimes she stays awake for 1-2 hours for no reason even when I am not trying to wean her. I started trying to night wean and decided I wouldn’t nurse from 11/12:00-6:00 so really I’m only trying to get rid of 1 night feed currently. It’s been 3 nights and it’s not looking promising. First night she woke up in the night and cried for about an hour. Second night was a little better I was able to soothe her back to sleep pretty fast, but the third night (last night), she literally screamed for 2.5 hours until falling back to sleep. I tried to stay calm and say “mama is here, let’s snuggle, next time you wake up you can have milk” she was so upset. It makes me wonder if she is ready yet…. But I can’t continue to keep nursing through the night the way I always have. I still haven’t gotten my period back after 19 months haha, and many other reasons. Do you have any advice? I will definitely look into getting this book too.
My daughter has the SAME sleeping pattern as yours did. Gosh I will miss those 2-3 hr nursing sessions in the morning after my husband leaves for work.
Random but did this help you get your period back so you could get pregnant again? We are wanting to try for a 3rd but I think cosleeping and nursing all night may be stopping me from getting my period
Beautiful mama ❤ thank you for your video. it is all very natural to me too, breastfeeding, sleeping together, taking care of my child home for as long as l can. Kilian is 18 and a half months now and he started to reduce his wake ups recently. Feels like he’s just about to stop night feeding by himself 🎉 I’m not pregnant and we don’t sleep together with dad. We tried that before but we couldn’t. Everyone gets so much more rest this way.
Very helpful video. I'm trying to figure out when and how I should approach weaning my 18 month old. I don't think she or I are ready for it yet but I want to know how for when we are. It's nice to see similar mom's as it seems like people judge how long you breastfeed a child and how much so often.
We are doing about the same thing. My daughter is 20 months now and I nurse her to sleep and put her in her bed. Lately she has been waking up after like and hour. I settle her back to sleep until like 10:30 and then I get in the guest bed with her. I’m ready to night wean her. We have that book as well. My daughter is extremely receptive to books! I’m pretty sure reading potty books allowed her to potty train as quickly as she did. I’m so ready to get better sleep at night. I don’t want to wean completely, but I feel my daughters sleep has gotten worse. She used to sleep 3 hour stretches and now she just wakes up constantly. I hope gently weaning will help.
Hey! I stumbled across your channel as I am starting to night wean my 22 month old. I have to because he's begun having tooth decay 😔 I've noticed you are all natural and I'm wondering if you have any tips on naturally healing/ restoring teeth. I know coconut oil is very beneficial and has healing properties, but I cant really expect him at this age to swish oil in his mouth.
Hey!! Definitely check out the books Cure Tooth Decay and The Dental Diet! The Weston A Price Foundation has a lot of info about healing teeth through diet too. @drstevenlin and @askthedentist are two of my favorite natural dentist accounts on Instagram with lots of great info too. Look into minimizing carbohydrates, and eating more raw dairy and maybe taking Cod Liver Oil too (@askthedentist and the Weston A Price Foundation talk about the benefits of Cod liver oil for teeth and dental health). Hopefully that helps give you some good resources to start looking into!
Will you be co-sleeping with your toddler and newborn? I'm in a similar situation, about to night wean my 18month old and we'll have a new baby in three months, and I'd like to keep co-sleeping with our toddler but I can't find a lot of information out there about ways to do it.
We actually transitioned her to her own room around her 2nd birthday, just because I was worried she would start waking up during the night again if I was having to be up feeding and calming the baby. I do know some people co-sleep with both (toddler on one side at your back and baby on your other side in the Cradle C position). Personally the thought just stressed me out though so we didn't :)

Mum to a 10wk old, really enjoying your content! Co sleeping is the only way we both get sleep.
Yay, I'm so glad youre here! I definitely relate, it feels so natural too!

Thanks for sharing your experience! Encouraging and helpful :)
Thanks so much to share with us your experience, it's really help, specially because today we gonna start night weaning with our 2yo.
Hey I love your video thanks for sharing.
My daughter is 18 months and is waking 4 times now, I'm hoping to wean soon and have the same book xxx
Thank you, such a helpful video. i'm going to order the book.
Did you weaned her completely? If so, how did you do it?
Very helpful!
