Thx for the,Video's! I have been doing small projects off and on for years and thanks to your information I've improved dramiticly. ......keep up the great work!
Hey G-Man I love the little DOWNWARD flick of the wrist in those first few coats - so you dont have to stop the paint flow...which I never see you do....another G-Man "beyond the textbook" trick ! Awesome!
will you not see a difference in colour between the newly sprayed rear quarter panel and the door. I always thought you had you had to blend in to the door about half way to match the old paint and the new as best you can
What color primer should you use when painting a vehicle a different color from a midnight metallic blue which it is now to a electric daytona blue I have the base and clear already just want to get the right primer because gonna need a whole gallon of primer because painting a whole truck a GMC Canyon SLE that I have.
Holy shit, I love the colors you use. I like lime green, green, electric lime green, electric lime and so on. :P You are doing an excellent job. This is coming from a Croatian who doesn't know shit about spray painting lol. I'd definitely ship my future cars to Australia to get them painted at your place. :P Amazing job man, I'm really impressed. :D
This looks so damm good man i have a pontiac g8 and i would like to do something like ando not having to repaint the whole car i dont want to loose the original paint but around here they wanna repaint the whole car but there aint many deep scratches or dents any recommendations
Hey man, right on the money, excellent video and by the way, do u use the tagrag or tacking cloth at all during each coat? I'm just wondering sometimes when I spray heavy metallics tacking the blend helps with how they lay!
What primer did you a white primer or gray because when paint my truck I have Daytona electric blue metallic paint and midnight blue metallic single stage paint but gonna use the Daytona electric blue but I have a gray primer 2k sealer dtm gonna put on never used a white primer yet or black but do have a spray can black primer coming though but spent about 500 on the single stage paint from the Paint for Cars site and the basecoat clearcoat kit for the Daytona blue electric metallic both are metric paints though. Gonna try this air paint dryer got recently too Pneustream Waterborne Paint Composite Air Dryer Gun that has a in line air regulator but instead of using it drying it when I have it put directly on the top of what drying gonna hold it from the side because on TH-cam another person I watch said to use like a handheld dryer from the side when you drying the paint job. But got other stuff to get now so gonna leave some time off of buying auto supplies am just trying to get better at auto painting and detailing because am still a beginner and never did a job doing it for a customer yet.
Hey gunman I'm from Adelaide and i am doing a full bare metal respray of my vk calais with the exception of my engine bay. I have a question regarding metallics. I am spraying the cerulean colour and found it very transparent and if i apply it too heavy then it runs (understandable) and wanted to know if i can spray my doors, gaurds, bonnet and boot off the car if it's the same batch of paint? Does it make a difference when spraying off the car and on the car with metallics? I just don't know who to ask that will give me a reliable answer. Im also using a iwata w400 bellaria 1.3 and i get no peel in my job at all, everything is a mirror. Thanks in advance for taking the time to read this long message! Kind regards, Josh
you can paint the panels off the car as long as you make sure the same amount of paint goes on and same thickness. also make sure they are hanging up cos the color lays down differently if its flat. but if the color covers very poorly I'd recommend painting the jambs first and bolting it up another advantage is that theres less chance of scratching the pannels
gee thats a hard one lol. i watched the poison ivy video and i swear i wasa looking at my green's coverage. I believe i did atleast 5 coats of green with the last one wet from memory. Colour looks really glittery, not so coarse of a metallic. i would have them standing up for sure but now looking at it, might be easier masking the jams up with the way you showed it on another video. As the vk's have black around the window areas on the doors also, would you recomend doing them last and doing the green all round then masking off the green and do the black once the green is cured? Thanks for the response!
Joshua Nolte Yeah Mate thats what i did on the Poison Ivy Green Commodore i had to spray all the jambs and inner doors then bolt it up. If it was just a black or a color that covered well i wouldnt have bothered. and I would always do the Black on the frames last but cant see it being a big deal if you wanted to do it first
Its 608R sorry man this was an early upload of mine and was still finding my feet as a TH-camr, all that info is included in my more recent vids, good luck mate and thanks for watching.
Wowza thanks for that info dude the plan is to do a full restoration on the vu as it came out of the factory but now just thinking the bonnet and the rear plastic part that sits over the rear window .
You'd be surprised what you can do with a buff and touch up brush too especially on a red they fade real bad but do come up well with a polish, and if you watch enough of my vids there's no reason you can't do it all yourself at home. You may find a dodgy shop that will charge f all but the job will match the price
Nice man I will have a look at some more of your vids.the paint that's on on her just now is sweet apart from the bonnet and that plastic trim I have never cut and polished before so I'm a wee bit concerned about messing it up any tips and tricks .again thank you for the info
Its a 4 year apprenticeship for a reason, so to just get paint on the panel well thats easy but to get a factory finish thats going to take years of practice and lots of knowledge, but by all means give it a shot mate what you got to lose. I recommend watching this comprehensive beginners video first th-cam.com/video/yH9QRSTeRN4/w-d-xo.html
Thanks for the feedback mate and this was one of my first vids, and another guy already said the same thing so I've been doing that on all of my recent videos.
It's not the name of this colour it's just this kind of blue is usually called "Electric Blue", the actual name of this colour is Voodoo Blue 636R is the colour code from memory, the paint code is in the video description.

I always thought you had you had to blend in to the door about half way to match the old paint and the new as best you can
what kind of a ratio would you recommend as a starting point for blending a regular reducer with clear to make a blending clear?
What color primer should you use when painting a vehicle a different color from a midnight metallic blue which it is now to a electric daytona blue I have the base and clear already just want to get the right primer because gonna need a whole gallon of primer because painting a whole truck a GMC Canyon SLE that I have.

Holy shit, I love the colors you use. I like lime green, green, electric lime green, electric lime and so on. :P

WERY WERY GOOD MR GUNMAN, HUNGARIAN CAR PAINT TEAM.
Thanks.
Hey man, right on the money, excellent video and by the way, do u use the tagrag or tacking cloth at all during each coat? I'm just wondering sometimes when I spray heavy metallics tacking the blend helps with how they lay!
Hi for last spray base coat did you add little reduce for blend please let me know thanks
You can add some clear Basecoat on light metallic colours but it's not usually necessary
good job
Just found your channel and have been watching it most of the day, very informative. What setting's did you have on the gun when spraying the blue??
I always thought 70% overlap meant you are to over lap your previous pass @70%. If you move it up 70% you're only covering 30% of you previous pass?
What primer did you a white primer or gray because when paint my truck I have Daytona electric blue metallic paint and midnight blue metallic single stage paint but gonna use the Daytona electric blue but I have a gray primer 2k sealer dtm gonna put on never used a white primer yet or black but do have a spray can black primer coming though but spent about 500 on the single stage paint from the Paint for Cars site and the basecoat clearcoat kit for the Daytona blue electric metallic both are metric paints though. You wont get any change out of 5k if you want a half decent job and it goes up from there depending on how far you want to go
Wowza thanks for that info dude the plan is to do a full restoration on the vu as it came out of the factory but now just thinking the bonnet and the rear plastic part that sits over the rear window .
