      A whole lotta lotta tedious micro tugs using a system capable of tearing the entire ass off the car in any number of amusing sadistic methods.. Good times....Rockstar wages

      My dad and I pulled the cowl completely off of 70 Chevelle convertable once trying to straighten it . . We just cut it out and welded another one in

    The photography, the work and effort to fix this classic car is impeccable! The few guys who did the work were masterful! I'm glad we live in an age where restoring a classic like this is possible with available parts like new quarterpanels. Great job all around!

    One of the best videos I have seen ! Especially to make a beautiful reconstruction of a seemingly bad wreck ! My first car at 20 years of age was a double nickel and to this day is my all time favorite ! Thanks again for the great video !

    My first car was a 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air 2 dr hardtop with a 265 V8....Bought in 1963 paid $985.00. It was a lot of money....What a beautiful machine...

    Really beautiful work on a very beautiful car. I kept wondering if the insurance company of the car that hit it had to pay for that work and that had to have cost a lot to fix.

    Nice end result! From the high caliber of work I have come to expect from you guys , I was really surprised that you put the new quarter on leaving the back side raw steel??? I find that hard to believe , but nowhere in your pics did I see otherwise.

    Nice body work...best upgrade for and LS / lexus motor? Put it in the dumpster.....trends starting to turn around. Pulled 2 LS swaps out this year. Customer wanted a 427 SBC... other just a carbed crate SBC.

    Very nice work indeed. I guess you had to repaint all the blue to ensure it was one colour. And preparation is everything . I've done similar work on countless classics over the years so l know what it takes . At 17mins 35 secs .Was that a Jaguar XJC in the background. Hope you don't mind but a couple of comments mentioned the amount of bondo , as you call it , on the quarter panel . I explained it was just a skim to finalise the shape as it was a reproduction panel. Great work and thanks for sharing.

      Thanks John...it is in fact a Jaguar, but I don't remember the exact model...it was a repaint for a local customer.

      Why aren't LS motors wanted? I've got a 69 Camaro with an LS2 and love it. Power, mileage options...

      They're becoming 'belly button' engines, like the small block Chevy engine was previously, IMHO.

    It's amazing how much damage happens to older cars when they get hit. I'm gonna guess that hit was under 35mph. Makes me ultra paranoid when I'm in traffic with my car with people these days on cell phones getting rear ended is more common now.

    All those top pros and all those hours just to repair... there has got to be 100s of 1000s in this car already. Beautiful but I will never hope to dream...

    Looks like kosher but when grinding as such the rest of the vehicle needs to be protected from all the metal flying all over the good painted areas...it causes filings to either pit or start a rusted outer spot ... same as rail dust

    There is one detail I can't get over with. Why will you fill a brand new quarter panel with bondo? If the panel is new and straight, there is no need for that. Sorry, but I can't take that or evenunderstand it. And there will be the ones who criticize my comment, but, I have done several myself, (in other words I know what I'm talking about).

  • @davidsnowball2981

    Very impressive

  • @jewllake
    @jewllake 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Nice! But can someone please explain why did they skim the new quarter panel in light bondo? Is that so they could block sand it and have it perfectly smooth? Did the replacement quarter have some imperfections?

    • @johndavey72
      @johndavey72 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You're correct with you comment . The quarter is a reproduction and as such will not be as accurate as a genuine panel so although it looks to be a lot of filler "bondo " it's probably only an 1/8th inch / 2mm to make the panel perfect.

    • @docholiday1034

      Lmao...how would you do it?

    • @johndavey72
      @johndavey72 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Larry. The panel is a reproduction so isn't quite accurate in shape so the bondo although it looks scary is only a fine skim to make that panel look perfect when painted.

  • @kingearl2596
    @kingearl2596 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Sorry, but every car pecker around the world could do this with the new panel. What is so special?
