Made with real chocolate, this drink is beyond flavorful. I grew up making this type of hot chocolate with my mom and I'm so excited to share it with you!

    I am Mexican and loved your recipe! I feel especially grateful that you mentioned the molinillo, piloncillo and champurrado, exalting the roots of our culinary culture. Totally correct to mention the Chocolate Abuelita, wich is the tradicional ingredient we use for this beverage.
    You have a very complete channel that reflects love and respect for gastronomy, that's so valuable! Congratulations and feliz año nuevo 2023! Mucho éxito!

      Estaba a punto de comentar algo similar y me ganaste 🤭 De hecho yo prefiero usar Chocolate Ibarra porque ese tiene canela y el Chocolate Abuelita no. Cualquiera de los 2 es el que muchas familias usamos pero vaya que sí quiero intentar esta receta 👩🏻‍🍳
      Thank you, John, for your wonderful recipes, and for sharing a little bit of our culture through them 💜 As a Mexican, I approve this recipe 😁👍🏼

    Here, in Spain, we also drink hot chocolate and sometimes pair it with "churros". If I don't mistaken, our hot chocolate is made of cocoa, sugar, flour (to thicken it up) and milk

    • @KyuubiCatT
      @KyuubiCatT ปีที่แล้ว +17

      Mexico also has drinks like atole and champurrado where they put I believe either corn starch or corn flour to thicken it up as well.

      I've been to Spain, and I heard churros with hot chocolate is a Madrid thing. Is that true? I remember thinking the "hot chocolate" was only a dipping sauce, but because it was super rich and creamy I couldn't help but drank it all up. Luckily I didn't make a fool of myself.

    • @TheBLGL
      @TheBLGL ปีที่แล้ว

      @@KyuubiCatT They use masa harina to thicken it, and that’s the basis of atole, it wouldn’t work with corn starch/flour. And they also use piloncillo (the raw sugar cone he talked about). Here in New Mexico, atole is made with blue corn masa harina.

      Honestly growing up mexican my mom would always throw Cinnamon in my chocolate milk shakes and hot chocolate so now any drink that has chocolate I tend to pair it with Cinnamon powder sprinkled on top 😋

      I make mine with milk, cinnamon, vanilla, a tiny pinch of salt, dark cocoa powder and condensed milk. It's freaking delicious.😅 His version is probably richer and creamier from the melted chocolate, and extra warming from the cayenne.

    I love Chocolate Abuelita!!!

    I grew up on Abuelita tablets, I have some in my pantry, in fact, and it is not overly sweet. At all. It is processed with almonds and other nuts and there isn't any sugar added. When preparing, no additional sugar is added because real Mexican hot chocolate needs to be spicy and slightly bitter.
    Also, ground cinnamon? I would infuse the milk with some bark cinnamon first.
