    What I like about this recipe besides being a no-bake, is it’s versatility…it doesn’t have to be peppermint flavor, could be vanilla, orange, lemon, almond or even a slice flavor AND the coating can be varied too: white chocolate, dark, bitter sweet, semi sweet, milk and I bet fillings could be added to…

      I would love it with orange in dark chocolate. I would also like to try it with strawberry or cherry. I do love the peppermint as well.

    I made this recipe. I gave these home made peppermint patties to my neighbors along with decorated Easter cookies. My neighbor came over and said she couldn't believe how delicious the patties were. She said they are better than store bought. This recipe was a hit with my family too. Thank you for sharing it with all of us.

    We love making these every year to add to our candy trays! We do both Vanilla and Peppermint Patties, using a full can of sweetened condensed milk, approx. 8 cups of powdered sugar, flavour the whole batch using 2 tsp Vanilla, separate out half of the dough, and then add 1 tsp of Peppermint extract to the remaining half (adding a few extra tablespoons of powdered sugar as necessary). They're /so/ dang good, especially with a tasty dark chocolate on the outside 😋

      But then I hope you add some kind of topping to identify which is which. There are mint lovers and mint haters.

    • @PixieLovesItAll
      @PixieLovesItAll ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@Aiko2-26-9 Of course 😄 We actually tend to do the vanilla in "drop" shapes by using a melon baller and shaping them like old fashioned vanilla creme drops, cover them in chocolate and then a white chocolate drizzle, whereas we tend to do traditional, simple patties for the mint.

      @susans1679 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Making these at this very moment. Using the whole can. What does one do with a couple of tbsp leftover condensed milk- besides eating it with a spoon from the can - never a bad option!!
      I am also now dreaming of making another batch with orange extract, decorated with a small piece of candied orange.

    FYI there is a non-dairy sweetener condensed milk made with coconut milk that works perfectly as an alternative for those of us allergic to milk. And Bakers Chocolate has a non-dairy bar that melts perfectly, as does Enjoy Life who has chips and chunks that melted perfectly. We all loved this recipe with the necessary conversions for allergies! Thanks so much!

    These are so delicious. We can customize the peppermint strength to our liking. Made them with my granddaughter (8 yrs old) and we decided to use a star and a small Christmas tree cookie cutters instead of a circle. Well, while still delicious, they were kinda ugly. Our chocolate covering skills need a lot of work! LOL But we shared a new experience and that made it OK! The "dough" is really easy to work with. We did forget to sift our sugar, but the patties were still smooth. I saw in the comments that there is a chocolate melting pot, so we"ll have to investigate that. Thanks and blessings!

    I always keep mine in the freezer since you can nibble on one even when frozen (it just seems cold, not hard). If you like it softer, just leave it on the plate for a few minutes. I also like changing the shape by rolling out and cutting into long strips and then the same in the other direction so they are square. I usually use a full can of condensed milk because you can 'feel' when you have added enough sugar when it isn't sticky and will not absorb any more sugar. I seem to remember it is approximately 7 cups of icing sugar.
    Some condensed milks are a little darker, and then you can always add green food coloring to mask that it isn't really white. For the dipping process, I have 2 plastic forks that I have snapped off the 2 center prongs to make the chocolate coating process easier.

    Your patties look so perfect. Mine not so much. I finally gave up cutting them out. Dough was sticking to everything. I just rolled them in balls and flattened into a somewhat disc shape🤷🏼‍♀ Like you said, still tastes good, even if not perfect. Thank you.

    A layer of these in the center of brownies sounds good. Happy National Brownie Day!

    ❤Mmm this is a classic! Our family re-created your marshmallow recipe. That was genius, by the way. This will be our next copycat from your channel. Thanks for sharing. ❤

    On the floppy peppermint patties ( whole can of condensed milk ). Could you still use them on top or under a thin chocolate wafer cookie ( premade maybe ) then cover in the melted chocolate ? Just wondering. Great recipe and tips Thank you !

    My fav hack for less messy sifting- keep the sifter really low over the bowl and swirl a whisk around the sive until it’s all gone through- it also breaks up lumps without waste!
