    Very emotional episode and it's part of the core of SW that George started over 45 years ago but the technology wasn't there yet for him to tell the story he wanted to tell. I couldn't believe this episode was stop motion and I am so glad the technology has improved so much that story tellers all over the world can finally tell their stories.

    In Disney+ when you select Visions one of the options is Extras. Their is a video for each season 2 episode that gives information about the animation studio and the inspiration for each episode. This episode is from a studio in Chile and is inspired by Spanish colonialism and the native people.

      Damn these Europeans, they haven't left one good corner in the world. Australia,Americas, Asia, Africa. But I think Australia and north America were the worst cases.

    • @jlokison
      @jlokison ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@kesardogra5529 well the other problem is the descendants of the colonists often don't see themselves as part of the European cultures they came from anymore. Especially in Africa, South America, and parts of the USA, this is sometimes because they were trying to get away from something in Europe or elsewhere. Some of the African peoples that were moved to the Americas can't go back to Africa because their original culture was destroyed by those that sold them to Europeans and colonies. The European Empires left their marks across the world and it can't really be undone in any neat and tidy fashion. I'm hoping people can find peaceful ways of resolving the problems caused, but many are already resorting to violence and have been for centuries.

      no, fue el propio gobierno de Chile que financio y aprobo el genocidio masivo de los selknam, ironicamente fueron judios quienes ejecutaron el genocidio pero todo aprobado y financiado por el gobierno de Chile. Cuidado con el tema del colonianismo espanol porque esto fue mucho despues de la independencia de Chile

    good day i am from chile, studying my first year of digital animation and just yesterday i got invited to a conference by Chilemonos about the production of this short, it was heavily inspired by natives tribes from the south of Chile called the "kawésqar" or "alacalufes" and how they lost their lands and all their tribes by the colonizers, their cultures also had a culture centered around the stars, punkrobot also drew inspiration from many documentary about these tribes.

    At the end….when the two stars appeared under the ‘mom’ star is symbolic off the sisters eventually dying. Think about it their entire village was killed and there was no way off planet. They most likely died on the planet of old age and their species is extinct after that.

    Ohhh I hadn't seen the short. I am from Chile and the story of this short film has to do with the extinction of the people of Chilean Patagonia. The Selk'nam. they had that particular style of putting on those horns and paints. And also the looting of water for sale to private industries... that is, the story has a part of the truth! The entire short film serves as a poignant euphemism for the plight of the native peoples in Chile, particularly in the face of exploitation by European, American, and Canadian corporations. These corporations ravage the delicate and isolated Chilean ecosystem, upon which these indigenous communities critically depend for their survival and cultural heritage, thits also true for the Average mixed and euro desendant chilean.
    The two sisters in the film symbolize the Selknam and partially the Tehuelche peoples, embodying their rich cultural legacy and profound connection to their land. The Selknam people, in particular, are on the brink of extinction, their numbers dwindling to near obliteration due to historical and ongoing pressures.
    Through the sisters' narrative, the film illustrates the cultural erasure and environmental destruction wrought by external forces. It highlights the fragile interplay between indigenous communities and their natural environment, showcasing the devastating impact of corporate intrusion on both. The sisters' struggles and resilience mirror the broader fight of the Selknam and Tehuelche against cultural genocide and ecological devastation, urging viewers to reflect on the urgent need for preservation and respect for indigenous rights and their ancestral lands.

    If you're pissed that the previous vids didn't have much traction, I'm quite pissed that my comment on your previous vid hasn't been saved or something... TH-cam keeps doing this to me pretty regularly, recently, I have no idea what happened... So I just had to rewrite a crappier paraphrasing version of it, and be done with it...
    But to come back to the lack of popularity, I think it's more because of the lack of Interest Visions is pulling from the broad Star Wars fandom. Most of them are not interested in animation projects, and if the first volume could ride on the popularity of Japanese anime, this second volume is riding on the pure talent of worldwide animation studios... which has near zero audience (trust me, I'm an indie animation film director raised in Belgium, so I'm PAINFULLY aware that some of the most talented storytellers of all times are hiding in our ranks, completely overshadowed by Japanese anime and the Pixar/Dreamworks/Disney.Hollywood schools) !
    Anyway, glad you got to discover this banger of a season ! Glad that for a limited time, some light can be shining onto worldwide animation studios through such a massive platform as Star Wars. It's still not big numbers by any means, but it's already MUCH MUCH larger than anything we could manage to attract just on our own, so we're grateful.
    And if big time reactors like you guys can actually see what indies worldwide animations are doing, and make you discover our previous works in retrospect, that fills us with (dare I say)... A new Hope !)
    There's a case for animation to be a natural fit for a universe such as Star Wars, as Visions vol.1 already showcased, and I'm really hoping that the success of this season will spearhead many more spinoff projects from it. It's kinda sad that the only truly great quality Star Wars content we're getting now (with the exception of Andor) are from studios outside of Lucasfilm, but hey, I guess that's specifically what makes them so good : they know they're on a MISSION ! I mean, Star Wars, dude ! They still remember it's a privilege, so they're all gonna bring their A-game to it !
    Just these 3 opening episodes have been banger after banger ! (I mean, I was not surprised from Cartoon Saloon, it was one of my most anticipated of the season, but the other 2 were really fantastic surprises)
    I had no idea what studio Punkrobot is (I'm much more familiar with Aardman, Cartoon Saloon, Studio Mir and Studio La Cachette, 4 of the absolute best animation studios in the world of this current generation), but this episode reminded me of a Laika movie, like Kubo and the 2 strings. That was really impressive ! Very much looking forward to know what they're gonna come up with in the future !
    Btw, if you weren't crying enough at the end of the episode, the 2 stars that light up besides their mother's is most likely their own, once they die somewhere in the future (since they're the only 2 souls left alive on the planet, so they couldn't reproduce, and eventually their whole tribe went extinct).
    Here, enjoy your afternoon ^^ !

      @darkhope97 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just to add mate punkrobot got to be more known after their short story got to win the Oscar for animation a few years back with the very emotional bear story and its analogy to the history of the coup de etat of 73
