Hey Steve I'd like to see some of your first smartphone videos when you just started before youtube, and did you started making videos with the iPhone as beginner?
Hey @dronezlifestyle7502 I didn't start shooting using a smart phone until around early 2020 with the release of the iPhone 11 with the wide angle lens before this, I didn't feel smart phones were good enough to create dedicated videos with. Prior to this, I used more traditional cameras like DSLR and Mirrorless cameras, and before that I worked in television using video cameras shooting on tape :-) This is one of my first smartphone video I shot for this channel: th-cam.com/video/KoXV6JexQeY/w-d-xo.htmlsi=Ve1vfbyQV57LKkDV
Thanks so much for your videos! They’re so helpful and informative. My son has been making short movies recently with his iPhone and has started watching your channel too. I want to get him a gimbal for Christmas. My question is, if you had a budget of approx £100-£150 which gimbal would you choose?
Hey @danallport6896, glad to hear these tutorials have been useful, happy to help with recommendations for you. If your son has an iPhone and is looking for a gimbal in the £100-£150 range, here are my top three recommendations (I've personally tested and used all of these): 1. Insta360 Flow/Flow Pro - Compact and great for travel, these gimbals have user-friendly apps that make it easy to create fun effects and quick edits-perfect for social media content. 2. DJI Osmo Mobile 6 - A small, portable gimbal that’s excellent for iPhones, offering reliable stabilization and seamless app integration for shooting and editing. 3. Hohem M6 - A slightly larger gimbal with a better tilt axis, making it ideal for more cinematic and professional-looking shots. It also features a magnetic AI tracker, so it works with any phone without needing a specific app. Since he’s using an iPhone, all three options will work smoothly. The Insta360 and DJI Osmo are better for creative, app-driven effects, while the Hohem M6 stands out for versatility and cinematic control. Hope this helps! Thanks, Steve
@@LearnOnlineVideo I would like to learn more about the Pan lenses and how they compare to other brands - Moment, Freewell - in terms of price, quality, ease of setup/use, image quality - both film/pictures -, and any other areas that a mobile phone filmmaker would need to pay attention to. Thanks
Did you use that wireless mic for this video? I don't see the obnoxious white logo, but does it support attaching a lavalier mic to the transmitter? Edit: Also you can try removing the logo with nail polish remover (acetone). It may soften/deform the plastic a bit so use it sparingly and carefully, but imo would be better than the brand name!
Heya, I absolutely love your videos..Thank you so much for your hard work...I,have question please...I'm filming only on phone samsung s24 ultra ai...all time people ask me what camera I use and dont believe me all is done just with phone. Im backapacker so using phone for my films is much easier than camera. Lately I had issue I got moist in microphone and it creating horrible squishy sound here and there...I realised i really need external microphone but i want to keep sounds of steps, birds river etc. My budget is very small and I found on Ebay microphone to stick just in phone...in description says it reduce all external noise..obviously I want to keep ambient sound, does those microphones reduce this ambient sounds ? My knowledge on microphones for phones is very poor so I hope you will be able to give me some advice..Many thanks advance.. Lucy
I have always enjoyed your video tutorials and, in fact, I have used many of your techniques (in shooting and editing) to start my own channel, so I cannot thank you enough for that. That said, (and I know you are an iphone guy, so I understand), Most of the items demonstrated in your videos has been for iphone or perhaps, iphone and some other brands (Samsung seems to stand out when i checked the links in your description), but I do not use either of those brands. I recently moved from an LG phone to a company called Celero, and while I have been able to find some generic accessories, I have not found much. Are there any generic accessories you would recommend for those of us not using the standard "big brand" phones? Thanks in advance, and as always, I really do appreciate your videos! Cheers!
One way to save money is to find a power bank whose batteries (typically 18650s) can be replaced when they fade. Also, traveling you can carry spare batteries rather than extra power banks.
Great tip 👌 I also use my canon batteries from my R6 in a charger as a power bank. I wanted to keep this video smartphone specific though as not everybody shoots using a DSLR/Mirrorless camera.
Thank you for your help. I've decided to set up my own channel to enter the world of video editing, taken the plunge and uploaded my first video. Aim is to learn and acquire the skills to hopefully produce some enjoyable content 😊

Another great video! A fundamental question though: when would you recommend using a cage over a gimbal? Also, I found out that the add on lenses I tried do not fit S24 Ultra, as it has slightly bigger lenses than the S23U had, resulting in vignetting.
Hey @przemysawwnuk3286 great question. Personally, I only ever use a cage when I'm shooting with a lot of accessories and a heavier payload, for example, an external microphone, hard drive, and light. I'll also choose a cage if I'm going for a more handheld look. Although some gimbals will allow a heavier payload, they also provide much smoother footage over a handheld cage. Hope this helps.

Hey dude i have recently bought a mic the should connect to my aux port but ny phone doesnt have one and i have tried 2 difrent aux to usbc cables and they both make the audio quality sound realy bad so you git any advice?
Hey @Jhawke999, Sorry to hear about the trouble with your mic. Here are a couple of suggestions that might help: 1. Check the Adapter Quality:Not all aux to USB-C adapters are created equal. Look for a high-quality adapter from a reputable brand that supports audio input specifically. Some cheap adapters might not work well for mics. 2. Use a USB-C Microphone: I know this isn’t ideal considering you’ve purchased an adapter but consider getting a microphone that connects directly via USB-C. These mics are designed to work with newer phones and can often provide better audio quality. Hope this helps and thanks for you watching. Steve
