When I jailbreak with Redsn0w it says I need to put it in DFu Mode. When I do it didn't work
This is the best video explanation out there. A few of my own learnings: 1. be sure about IPSW file version; 2. make sure to change the time& date settings according to your location before you run Cydia; Make sure you are wifi connected to the internet also. There are many important details that need to be right, and a few important steps that need to be followed with precision, so if you fail in the first or second attempts, don't panic, IT WORKS!

please help, when i put my phone in dfu mode my itunes doesnt pop up, and i relly want to unjailbreak my phone. But itunes never detects my phone while in dfu.

Thank you the jailbreak I was using told me to turn off the iPod then hold the power button then both then the home button. We tried it like sixty times before we gave up now hopefully this time it works.

When I enter DFU mode itunes immediatly tells waiting for iPod and puts it in recovery mode why?
Thank you for posting this! I haven't been able to get my phone to work for a month. Apple was gonna charge me $100 just to look at it, and likely $50 more once they fixed it. Now I can watch baseball on the toilet again!!
First of all, try to force restart it. That means you have to hold the home and sleep button together about 10 seconds ( I recommend you to hold them until the apple logo appears). Also, try restoring it with the computer. As this guy shows in the video, keep holding the home button and while you hold it connect the ipod/iphone to itunes. And then it should restore and ask you for a name and for a backup if you made one. Hope that helped!

@kikelang keep on press that home button till it works again because for me I had the same problem my home button would not work but after a while it should work
@DrTontongon It is DFU mode. iTunes just says recovery mode even though its not.
@liamo just reboot it in ade mode. ull see settings. use voulme buttons to navigate down and up. go down to boot in restore mode. and in ur computer itunes should ask u to choose ur 'ipsw'

Now it works. I just let it discharge and I opened it and it works fine. And ironically this happened after I took my iphone to a service and they said they can't do anything.
You can put it into DFU mode without a computer,just make sure it has power.By the way this video saved my iPod touch,it wouldn't boot but it does now

if you lost your apps then just go to itunes and make sure your usb in connected and your it says that your ipod is in then go to your ipod name and look up and it say apps then just click on it and click on the square for games you want and then press sync and there you go
if it wont turn on. hold the Power button down for 5 seconds. then without relesing the powerbutton also hold down the home button for 10 seconds. now relese the powerbutton but not the home button and hold it for 5 sekonds.

run the latest version of redsn0w (google it) and just do jailbreak, thats where DFU mode is for.
If you don't want to jailbreak just hold the power button (button on the top) for a total of 3 seconds, then without releasing the power button, hold the home button (the button in the centre with a square) for 10 seconds. Then release both buttons, and your device will be in normal mode.

So when I get to jailbreaking it with redsn0w, when I follow the 'hold down 'x' button for 3 seconds' instruction, it jumps past the instructions then tells me that an unexpected error has occured. what to do?
if it's going into recovery mode, then you need to make sure that you dont let go of your sleep button in the middle. also if you want to get out, then you just hold the power, and home for 10 second, or until the apple logo comes up

Is there another way because i have some issues with the sleep button and when i actualy think i clicked it, it doesnt work and have to push it really hard. So is there another way to put it in DFU mode. Through computer maybe?

Oh, another thing is that from your video on jailbreaking ios4.2.1. my iPhone4 is running on ios4.2.1 firmware, so I was wondering that do i still need to put the iPhone4 into DFU mode, so it can run the 4.2.1 firmware I downloaded, or I can just skip that stage?

@EverythingApplePro Is there a way to go into DFU Mode WITHOUT pressing the power button? Many people (like me) dont have working home/power buttons and we cant go into DFU for jailbreaks.. :( please help us out..

If your ipod 4.gen does,nt work anymore just try hold the home+power botten at the same time and realese the home botten it shod work it worked for me :D

Sometimes you need to put it into DFU/Recovery mode to restore as you might have jailbroken you Idevice and the only way to un jailbreak it is to put it in that mode and restore
my iphone 4 4.2.1 will absolutely not go into DFU mode. ive been tryin to get it to for like 2 weeks. i tried with this video and others and it will Not go into DFU mode no matter how many times i try. ive got it timed perfectly with the video and everything. PLEASE HELP!!!!

This doesn't work for me, everytime I try to go into dfu mode the apple symbol comes in way to fast and by the time I let go of the power button its already in recovery mode. You would not happen to know how to fix if the last part of recovery mode you get error 28?
@canary194 Crap. You have to delete all of those files. They are system bugs that are preventing you from entering DFU mode. Just select all those files and then hit delete.

i have a problem, my iphone 5 is jailbroken, today i wanted to install a theme and to refresh the springboard, my phone rebootet and now the apple logo is still there trying to reboot.. i tried to hold down the power and homebutton for 10 seconds, then it starts again to reboot, but it won't show my lockscreen, please help :((
