I just found this video . . . subscribed and looking forward to more videos. I am bringing a 1988 Grand Wagoneer back to life and can relate to many of your challenges.
I'm sure I'll have a few more videos ready to go here very soon. I'm having a fuel issue now so I'm going to replace the main fuel tank and get rid of the auxiliary tank. Otherwise she's running well and is drivable! Thanks for watching! Check out part 2 for more, Cheers 🤙🏼
@@blackpearlvoyager4174 I'm also having fuel delivery problems. So I plan to keep the factory tank but go with a electric pump located on the frame a few inches in front of the tank.
Yeah everything is a challenge on this. I've just discovered in order to get the front spring bolts on the rear leafs out I'm going to have to pound them out from inside which means I have to remove the muffler ( welded) on the passenger side and the @#$& fuel tank on the driver side! The bolts are seized to the inside of the spring bushings 😮 I can get the nuts off but the bolts are stuck😞 Keep watching!
I just did my heat vacuum. closest one to cab goes to vacuum cannister. middle one heat and last one defrost. you can test the actuator with a hand vacuum pump. the defrost actuator is one right behind glove box.
Cool truck...looking forward to some trail and camp footage. Diggin the cassette deck. I'm doing the same type resto on a dodge ramcharger. Lots of fun to drive.
I haven't had much of a chance to drive this except around the block a few times. I'll definitely tighten things up as I go but I would love to get this out on some trails. I understand they're pretty capable especially with the low range and locking transfer case. It'll be a while I've got some significant challenges ahead 😒 Keep watching!
Check out 3M eraser wheels for removing that old vinyl and adhesive. I struggled with the heat gun for a while and found the eraser wheel made short work of it. I used with a corded drill and went at it and it actually didn’t mess the paint up at all.
It must be fate that made you mention this. I was just today watching another TH-camr, Sarah-n-tuned, and she was using a 3M wheel to remove some old adhesive. I will give that a try on your recommendation. 👍🏻 It looks like the wheel wears down as you use it so I may have to order more than one, there is a lot of real estate to cover 😆 Thanks for watching and your good suggestion. Cheers!
@@blackpearlvoyager4174 I picked up 2 of them for the old wood grain vinyl on my 86 Grand Wagoneer and just changed them out every so often, the rubber tends to heat up a little with constant grinding. It’s amazing how watching this video I’m seeing you run into the same stuff I did on my 86 putting the Rusty’s 6” on it, nearly every bolt was a struggle, I had to drop the gas tank, and had to cut into my pitman arm to get it off.. fun project so far but I’ve learned to be patient haha, lots of broken bolts. Glad to see another one getting some new life!
Congratulations, that's remarkable. Question for you, where did you manage to find a chain? And is it Chinese made or American?. I was looking to buy a rebuilt one so that everything had been gone through and is working again, but I may be forced to do something like you did. Sounds like a fairly straightforward job if you can do it while it's still in the car. The place I'm working with has had my money for over a year now and still can't fight a chain to rebuild a unit for me. I'm thinking it's time for a refund 😆 Thanks for the information and hope you get your rig back on the road.
@@jm-ve8ry yeah that's what I thought. I know they're a source but the people I'm working with are telling me that they're out of stock too. I think they're jerking my chain. It's time to call in the attorneys 😆😆
Growing up our neighbor had a wagoneer, and I remember all going to the drive-in movies. Very good times as a kid!
Well this would definitely bring back some good memories for you then. Hope you get to see it close up one day!
Look forward to more! :)

Great video! Looking forward to the progress! Wish I was a little closer, would love to give you a hand..

Very close to starting on my 79 Chief. I look forward to updates.

Wow, this is great information I really appreciate it. It's probably the only combination I didn't try 😆. I will let you know if it works!

@@Bike551 I'm all about breathing new life into this thing but it might kill me doing so 😆😆.
Good luck and thanks for commiserating with me. 😁
I just changed my chain. Left the unit in the vehicle, just removed the rear cover after removing the reduction unit.

Who are you getting parts from? I have a 79 Cherokee that I’ve put a Durango chassis and hemi in to update but trim is hard to find.
