During a dry summer the grass/parks in Auckland can develop cracks more than big enough to swallow some coins.
Wouldn’t be surprised at all! That’s a cool fact and might help explain why some of them were so deep.
Why call it an english penny???? New Zealand had their own pennies
Because that penny was a British English penny from I think 1917, New Zealand didn’t make its own pennies till 1940 :).
