- Everyone likes old coins. Whether you're a seasoned treasure hunter or not, seeing an long forgotten images and reading the centuries old date instantly takes us back to that time in our minds, even if for just a brief moment. So as 2022 comes to an end I thought it would be cool to take a look back at some of our oldest, rarest, badest to the bone(est) OLD COINS that we found all year. Some of these coins we may never dig out of the ground again in our lifetimes, but that doesn't mean we'll stop looking!

(thought it would work as normal due to it being water proof within certain parts of the detector), on dry land and sand worked well. My first one, so still have lots to learn

The British currency was divisible into 12 (a shilling), so that's why they made a six pence (half shilling), four pence (third of a shilling), three pence (quarter shilling), two pence (sixth of a shilling) and one and a half pence (8th of a shilling). Then we had a revolution to put an end to all that nonsense....

If this video isn't enough inspiration for people to get out and detect, then I don't know what is. Such amazing finds. I thought it'd be a toss-up between the 8 Reale and the 1793 left facing half cent for #1. I completely forgot about the 4 pence too. I had EVERY denomination and type of British coin, and never even heard of a 4 pence. That has GOT to be scare. Omg this video was awesome! Going out now to detect. 😁
My favorite was Doug's 1793 ,he is the ultimate King of metal detecting on that find ,can't get any better than that one

I was fortunate enough to spend time with family in North Carolina over the holidays and took my metal detector with me. Their home was built in 1805. I didn't have too much time to get out, and I didn't find anything earth shattering, but I had a fun time. Looking forward to returning some day. I know there's something great to be found there.

Coins are great but I really love the other artifacts you find.
The best soil for preserving coins is sand, everything I’ve dug in sand, not beach but just Sandy soil, comes out super clean!
I new that 8 Reale would be the number 1 🥰 I love the number 3 coin, I found a 1796 No Pole Liberty Cap Half Cent in 2022, super rare coin also. Look forward to seeing what you guys find in 2023 😍 Great vid as always 👍
