    In this video we give you the instructions/Tutorial (and templates) to build your own cardboard bunker that was originally shown in White Dwarf 184 way back in 1995.

    There's something about Oldhammer that's just special. It was cheesy at times but it was part of the charm of it, and I wish GW still made "customer friendly" stuff like the DIY articles instead of advertising $100 1'x1' blocks of resin

      I'd not say GW back in 2nd ed WH 40k was customer friendly. I still remember the constants price hikes that drove me out of the hobby.

    Ah yes, the far off days when GW actually encouraged building your own terrain. I miss those times!

      @@SnakeWorksStudio Yeah, I did. There was more creativity back then, and less corporate nonsense from Games Workshop.

    After reading that article in my youth,I made a whole table worth of scenery including bunker based on the design. I've still got a few left. Can't believe it's over 25 years old.

      ScifiWargamers still going strong. It's more down to the fact that I sealed them with a million coats of varnish. Card with deteriorate overtime if not properly looked after.

    That bunker looks more futuristic than the ones they use now, which look pretty modern and contemporary by comparison.

    Oooh, fun! I found the templates for the Baneblade tank recently, and have a used deodorant stick on hand for the landspeeder project down the line. Looking forward to more of these :D

      @@SnakeWorksStudio This is the Imgur album I found the scans on. The instructions are a bit daunting, and I'll have to hunt down some bits before I give it a go.       A bunch of mini painters on TH-cam did a colab series not too long ago where they all scratch built the deodorant speeders. That one is way more straight forward slap greebles onto the anti-smell-stick and paint it.

    I remember making some ork buildings from cutouts in a W.D. even older than that one!.......it was actually really cool. paint mixed with pva and sand as texture over some cardboard with a deoderent can lid on top as a water tank with a drinking straw attached to it. had a Spanish villa sort of look to it It. was probably the best thing iv'e ever made from almost nothing! It had Goff checkered markings and super cool old-skool ork iconography all over it. Pre 2nd eddition stuff. I love the older orks!!!! I remember trying this one a few years later......................................... and it defeated me lol

      @@SnakeWorksStudio unfortunately not. Don’t know what happened to the bunker, but the ork building I left at my local gw when I worked there in the late 90’s and forgot to pick it back up.

    “You can also add texture paint to the sides...” This was in the time before Astrogranite and the other texture paints.

    I've had recent suspicions that cereal box card has got much thinner, and looking at the photographs from this issue it is true! Modern cereal is practically packaged in paper!

      Shoebox card is about right, if it's not that stuff that's got a very thin layer of corrugated in the middle.

      @@SnakeWorksStudio actually yes... kind of... going to try figuring out a couple for 6mm, so will need to adapt for the scale and the bas size i use (penny coins) should be an interesting thing to try :)

    How I wish I could get all the old Rogue Trader models. Too bad GW doesn't re-release them. I honestly wish someone would recast to be honest. Would love to have the old squats, first marines, first orks and harlequins etc...

      @@SnakeWorksStudio That's a good question. I think I would love a squat and imperial guard army, perhaps marines against Eldar or Orks. It would be so much fun. Also I have a passion for those models. I know some prefer the new highly detailed CAD made ones, but I am partial to those early sculpts. I can still remember the first miniatures I ever bought, RTB01. Will never forget that feeling.

    Takes me back making this with my 40k second edition . Love the space crusade music from the video game in background, that’s what got me in to 40k in first place . Playing space crusade board game and the video game on the Atari .

      @@SnakeWorksStudio probably at some point. I have quite a few old white dwarves with some of these designs in the pictures. I don't play much 40k anymore but I did make some cardstock buildings for my battletech games.

    This is a great article, I kinda sorta remember it! I'd like to take a crack at this but I'd go one step further and make it out of sheet styrene or what the Brits call plasti-card so that it really lasts many games. The more you put into it, the better the results!

      @@SnakeWorksStudio not this one but I have very fond memories of have terrain making days at my local GW. They would get all the kids involved and by the end of a weekend they would have table and tables of terrain. I was always a fan on Pringles tubes as towers.

    They could get so much good environmentalist & creative PR by reinstating their articles on reusing & recycling waste into gaming pieces. A bunch of sprue collection points for the off cuts of the vast amounts of plastic they push hobbyists to consume isn’t enough
