Hi Stan. I enjoyed this ride along very much. It wasn't too long for me, as I have a great love 💕 for the mountains. Your. music choices were spot on. Enjoyed learning about Wolf Creek Pass and what a trucker needs to know to drive it. 🚗
I enjoyed this video Stan, learned about various gears a trucker uses, almost like the Grapevine in Ca. Love the mountains and the music was top notch with your hike up to the waterfall which I loved. Absolutely beautiful!! Be safe 🙏🇺🇸💞
Hello Stan thanks for these interesting videos love all the scenery. And yes I remember growing up with those cinnamon sticks as a kid. Safe travels out there 🙏🇺🇸
Thanks for this video sir . Man this brings back many memories for me going across that and h-70 out of Denver in a big truck. Been there and done it. Beautiful scenery it is
Love the video Stan, great job! Love the long videos, but like you said watch some and come back. Beautiful area of the country. Shinny side up and rubber side down. 🙃
Thank you Daddy Sasnack a lil scarey but very beautiful. Wish I could go around the country taking video streams. These are Soo relaxing to watch. Great job. Love you guys streams♥️🇺🇸💯
My hubby and I watched on the tv, while having breakfast this morning. Very good! I really enjoyed your explaining how to get down the steep grade. Your love for the old music comes out really well. At the end, my hubby commented that the bonus footage reminded him of that Sunday Morning show that used to come on 😉. We both enjoyed your program. Keep 'em comin'. -- and remember, safety first--- lol Now we got to get busy fixing the house... because of a slab leak. This black clay dirt grows a lot of cotton... and shifts too many times in a season.
Wow what an awesome video. Love the falls. Gods creation never ceases to amaze me. I like the longer vids. Thanks stan Gods speed to you my friend.❤✝️🙏
Nothing but “ RESPECT THE WOLF”. It’s a beautiful but deadly stretch of highway. Youngblood’s need this video before they run the “WOLF”. Great job Driver. Keep on Truck’in
Thank you, Mr. Sasnak ❤ Stunning views and the weather looks incredible ☀️ 28:03 I would sure get complacent looking at the scenery @29:04 and whoooah it does appear to take that sudden swoop edge, I could definitely see ppl go flying over the side. 🫨
Good stuff Stan. In 1967, my family moved from southwest Colorado to Kansas. I was 6 months old, so I don't remember the trip. My parents said going across Wolf Creek Pass was a very dangerous journey. Apparently, my mother was driving a moving truck while flat towing a pickup and dam near crashed. Anyway, thanks for the trip.
I LOVE watching your videos Sasnak ❤️ I turned this video on and started cooking in the kitchen. The scenery & history (and best of all) your music & singing I find so much fun and makes me so happy. Your wife is a lucky woman. Would be so nice if she could share that with you.
Stan wonderful video. I think the longer video allows for really show casing an area. I really appreciated seeing the whole Wolf Creek Pass you gave the big picture and not just the over the Cliff snipet I've seen in other vids. Plus giving instructions on how to drive it, especially for those who aren't used to mountainous driving and gearing down. The waterfall bonus was really delightful!
Thanks for the long format experience Stan. What a beautiful country, and so unassumingly dangerous. Many have lost their lives in this beautiful area and it’s crazy to think that this was the beautiful scenery they saw before the biggest terror of the last seconds of their lives. The demolished wall tells the tale here. 29:02 Safety first. Knowing your equipment set up is so important, but often overlooked.
Nice video and great info. My dad drives this route in the winter. He drives propane truck and has shown many how to properly chain up a truck, all 8 drive tires in 15 to 20 minutes. Wolf creek pass is absolutely beautiful in the winter as well.
Love this. Thank you. I’ve gone through the Superstition Mountains,,,took a very skinny road to Tortilla Flats, you could look down on it sides as well and cars falling off down the ravine. I only took that trip 1 time that way. Lolol. Went out the LONG way back to Apache Junction… lol. Love the ride. Thank u
beautiful. The long format of beautiful scenery was just what I needed tonight. I have been lucky to have a few vacations in the Lake city (Alpine loop to silverton) area. My husband has been at KU Med center for 3 weeks & we have been trying to place him in skilled nursing for the last 2. They are all full. Obviously Boomers are dropping like flies. Thanks Stan. I needed that.
Stan love the views on the trip. We may not make it because of my wife's health. So I want to THANK YOU for all your videos of your trips. It wasn't to long, I think it's cool!!! Love the falls , just wish my wife could make it.
Good job, Stan I like the longer videos, been over Wolf Creek Pass a few times, it was nice to set back and enjoy! Rabbit Ears Pass east of Steam Boat Springs in Colorado has claimed a few loads of cargo as well.
When I started driving otr in the late seventies, I was running out of Fl. to west coast and n.w to British Columbia Canada, Drivers were chewing on toothpicks back then, Like your videos from central Florida!
Wolf Creek pass is a beautiful ride. I drove through it in 2019 on a camping trip from Maine to the National Parks in that area. I can’t wait to do it again. Nice video Stan. I like the long format. I did pause for a little while but finished it a little later. Great history lesson too. Thanks.
I love the drive videos. Long video are nice too. Maybe throw in some short of waterfalls in a minute with music too. Or the joke. LOL Have fun with it. Some of us will always be there watching. Plus I go back & watch other videos again too. Be safe out there. Katherine Cook
Enjoy the video what a beautiful ending. I once drove up to Tennessee took my horse and horse trailer and went riding with a beautiful enjoyment in the forest and mountains from Florida
I think you are really onto a niche TH-cam channel. The Wild West was wild and dangerous. You can research the particulars of any given area. People love to understand the dangers of yesteryear. That combined with the current lifestyle is interesting. Isn’t that your original dream for this videography hobby? You are doing it for real now! Don’t be intimidated- don’t rush your content. Do it and be proud of your work and yourself. God bless
Grew up and have been over this pass a million times. Well that may be an exaggeration but we used to go up to Denver for for track basketball trips all The time time in high school. Dan Huntington was our bus driver he was the best of the best to drive a school bus over this in a blizzard takes skill. I my self have driven over it 100 times and I always respect the road. You have to know when to break, when I was a teen one time after the hair pin curve my breaks were glowing red that was in a little care. I have become a much more experienced driver since then. And gain some speed then slow it way down then gradually gain speed then tap the breaks. Just how you explained. In a truck you have to take this low and slow just like you would cook elk haha. Thank you for the video. And loved treasure falls such a beautiful hike.
Loved the video so beautiful and informative thanks again for sharing your travel with enjoy while you can so we that can’t unfortunately this is the only way some of us can and it always more enjoyable with someone with good information, stories like todays video with a sense of humor in them love the bonus with the water fall it would be so relaxing just to sit there on the rocks with a breeze and losing yourself Fromm your worries for a while thank again ….keep safe on these journeys
I went over that pass in 2019 with a 39 foot travel trailer weighing 12 thousand pound with a 2017 Ram 2500 with a Cummins and had no problems at all and the Engine Brake held it back so much I had to throttle it a little to speed up Great Truck I put many miles on it! Now I have a 2022 Ram and it's not as good as the 2017, already had lots of Problems!!
Awesome video Stan!! Been riding along with you since you first started making videos. Miss the truck but this is still great. Love the scenery and maybe you can't play the guitar but you sure have a talent of putting the right music to the right video.
There is a Truck Brake Check on the Westbound side on top of Wolf Creek Pass and there’s usually a DOT (Crown Vic) in the mornings making sure truckers stop and check their brakes before heading down. So if your a CMV stop and check your brakes and make sure they are cool and properly adjusted before going downhill. Monarch Pass is hair raising. Great video!! It’s a beautiful drive.
I totally enjoy the videos no matter how long they are. Most definitely have to set time aside to watch, first of all shut the tv off and turn on Sasnak!!!!!
Nice ride. While transiting thru America’s hinterlands, I always wonder why residents stay where they are. Must be a lot of backstories out there? Fair Winds Stan.
Onion soup mix was a bouion powder add to hot water with freeze dried onions. A lot of people carried it in a thermos. 😊 The horse stuff was a upper, to kept them awake on those very long hauls before regulations.. My dad said, they would see weird things in the road, they would avoid what ever, a naked women in the road and crash. Maybe the driver would see a building on the center line or big foot
I drove Wolf Creek Pass around Labor Day this year for the first time in my 30,000 lb diesel pusher motorhome pulling a 5,000 lb Jeep Grand Cherokee. An experienced trucker told me how to approach it and with his good advice I did fine.
Great video! We just did Wolfs Creek Pass on 9/8 on our way to Durango. Beautiful scenery…. But that hairpin turn is something else…. We were pulling our 33 ft Grand Design travel trailer and after that turn we had to stop as our trailer brakes were overheating .
I lost track of your channel for a while glad to be back. This was a long video but makes me want to make a comment. Growing up in Breckenridge Colorado what you say are so true. I remember as a kid all of the truck wrecks on Loveland Pass. One particular was when a r truck hauling swinging meat crashed on the west side of Loveland everybody jumped in their cars to drive up and look this was in the mid-1950s. When we got there people were hauling side of beef up to there cars someone said they had not found the driver in my mind I wondered if some of what they were hauling what is the driver? I was very young probably six or seven so I’m sure I did not hear it right. You are 100% correct about California they have just about destroyed this state I don’t believe native Colorado’ns were responsible for the legalization of marijuana. There is so much influence from the Californians, who moved here.. and they brought their politics with them.(diiscusting) I look at Breckenridge and it’s all money whare I played as a kid is now someone’s multi million dollar home common people don’t belong my step. Dad drove truck as a kid I would rather go on the truck with him than go on Boy Scouts camping trips many fondest memories back then dad drove a 1960’s Peterbuilt cab over with a 220 Cummins 5&4 with a 1:02:25 pup hauling lumber and grains on the return trip just to pay fuel cost those were tougher times for trucking.
Good video Stan, i think that is the first time i have ever seen a speed warning sign flash while you were going under the limit and not over. I'm not a fan of col. Pretty state but the roads are hell. Longer videos deserve longer comments.
B4 they didn't have all the warning signs either... but they do now... so if those cocky drives don't take them seriously they shouldn't be driving!! I saw a lot of that on Eisenhower I-70 when I was OTR driving. I only drove wolfcreek pass once in the semi... white knuckles whole way down.. mostly cuz I've driven it b4 4 lanes several times in RV and car!! Thanks for sharing!!
This is really good video you explained the brake thing really well I like the longer videos if you have to do something just pause and watch it later I like them I don’t watch Tv anymore
Did you know there are 13 different cities or places called wolf creek? I live near wolf creek in Oregon for a while as a kid. There is one in Texas as well.
Spent our wedding night at the old Wolf Creek Inn, Oregon.1989. Parents of a friend were running the place then. Had a lovely quiet dinner and evening. I grew up on the side of GP.
Very interesting video on Wolf Creek. I’ve seen a lot of the wreck recovery videos of course, but I’ve also seen in person what happens when a truck goes down a steep grade too fast. Gravity never, ever sleeps, nor do Newton’s other laws for that matter. The two most dramatic incidents I’ve witnessed personally were both on Arkansas State Highway 7 (better known locally as Scenic 7) going north down into the Buffalo National River canyon. It’s 1414 feet down the side of Roundtop Mtn from the summit, and the last huge hairpin left handed drops you 50 feet right into tiny Jasper. The grade is 7 to 8 percent for 4 1/2 miles. Like Wolf Creek the first 3 miles or so is fast and nearly straight with only a few dogleg curves. But just past the runaway ramp is a 25mph left followed by a 20mph right. 21 people were killed here in 1980 just before the ramp opened when a charter bus lost control, entered the ditch on the right side, hit a rock outcropping, vaulted over the road and down the embankment on the other side. Only three passengers survived. In 1991 I was returning from college in Arkadelphia, en route to home in Missouri when I came whipping around one of the 25mph curves only to be greeted by a tow truck blocking the road. A truck hauling fertilizer had taken the last curve just too fast and turned over on its side, dumping all the fertilizer as well as blocking the roadway. I was stuck four hours while they gathered 4 tow trucks to yank the mess off the road. Grass was 30 feet tall when I came back a week later. More recently I followed a semi going entirely too fast with his trailer brakes pouring smoke all the way down, amazingly he kept control and stopped at the bottom just before it burst into flames. Too, cars aren’t exempt either and it’s all too easy to hit absurd speeds on some passes. I drive a new Kona N, great power but like most small turbo engines it has little engine braking. Exiting the Eisenhower Tunner westbound I hit 100mph even after dropping it to 5th gear (it’s an 8 speed) and 6300 rpm’s - 4th would have put it in the red. Fortunately a Kona N has enormous brakes, lifted right out of one of their race cars, so bringing it back down to sane speeds was no problem. But the point is still the same - if the signs say steep grade, slow down - do it, or you take your chances. Enjoyed the video!
Jackson hole is a lot like Pigeon Forge TN, pathetic what they have done to both of them. We went through Jackson in early June and it is a joke. There are wall to wall people and no where to park.
Gorgeous scenery & great narration, singing, love the waterfalls - spraying over the edge (top) ! How many times have you gone through Wolf Creek Pass in a rig (which semi?)?
Got a speeding ticket from the state patrol back in '77 on a motorcycle. The cop followed us into Pagosa Springs to watch us put the fine into the mailbox.
I was going to add that but you read it. Previous owner of the Vikings, the late Red McCombs wanted that resort. The citizens had a legitimate complaint along with the conservationists. I signed their petition.
You can Google search the 30 year fight. Last stand for locals and lynx and conservationists. The last unspoiled Colorado. Turning into Jackson Hole slowly. Where millionaires can't afford it. Only billionaires now. For real. Search again.
Some facts about C.W. McCall you may (or may not) know: The music was all written by Chip Davis- a Classically-trained composer who went on to great acclaim as the founder of the ensemble group Manheim Steamroller (famous for their Xmas music in the 80s and 90s). The lyrics and 'voice' of C.W. McCall was Bill Frees- who was originally in advertising before collaborating with Davis on 6 albums. Frees re-wrote the lyrics of their biggest hit- 1975's "Convoy"- for the 1978 film (starring Kris Kristopherson, Ali McGraw, Bert Young and Ernest Borgnine; directed by Sam Peckinpah) of the same name. Later Frees would move to Orway, Colorado - where he served a term as Mayor in the late 80s. William Frees died there in 2022 at the age of 93. The "origin" of the C.W. McCall character comes from a TV commercial ad campaign Frees created for Old Home Bread (a brand of the Metz Baking Company; Sioux City IA) in 1973. The "C.W." stands for "Country and Western"- by the way...
Love all the videos ❣️🥰

Stan wonderful video. I think the longer video allows for really show casing an area. I really appreciated seeing the whole Wolf Creek Pass you gave the big picture and not just the over the Cliff snipet I've seen in other vids. Great content, but I vote for 20 minute videos.
I grew up there. My family has a whole different story of the naming of wolf creek.

Interesting history about the pass and it's dangers.
Love ur videos... long or short!! ❤
Glad you like them!

Been up there 2 years ago .. i missed it ..
Some facts about C.W. McCall you may (or may not) know:
The music was all written by Chip Davis- a Classically-trained composer who went on to great acclaim as the founder of the ensemble group Manheim Steamroller (famous for their Xmas music in the 80s and 90s).
