I have been looking for a decent chicken defense round. This will make me feel more safe when I am patrolling the barnyard. Never know when the chickens will stage an uprising. it's good to know that this round will go through multiple chickens because they walk in single file to hide their numbers .
@@markhudson2266 sometimes foreigners mix the 380 for the 38 or 38super or I've seen south American countries shorten the name or model, Taurus pt738 pt938 sig 238 9mm short, 9mm kurtz, 380acp, 380auto, 9mm browning corto, 9x17 380 is an easy one List all the variants of 32/7.65
wordiestdata the price of ammunition huh? So I take it you only value your loved ones at 3 rounds per attacker/rapist then? I'll stick with putting rounds in an attacker until my gun goes "click" thanks.
mpk1414 I'd rather empty every last round into the enemy that's attacking me or a family member. Much more satisfying. And there will be absolutely no doubt that my target is very, very, very neutralized.
For anyone who has questions regarding this rounds effectiveness, please look for a youtube member named ShootingTheBull410, he did a 3 part extensive review on this bullet and he will explain to you why this novelty round is nothing more than novelty.
Just found out that a former teammate was killed by one rip round that entered the back of his shoulder. One fragment punctured his lung as he ran away. He collapsed 150 yards away. All other fragments went into muscle
I thought self-defense rounds weren't supposed to be too high-powered so that you wouldn't hit anyone/thing you cared about behind your target... but you can't deny this round is impressive.
I think it would be much better if you used regular ammo to shoot the same targets when you use special ammo, this way we can really see the difference. That ballistic gel was awesome as well
Haha sweet you're at IV8888's range! Would love to see you do a collab with him and Hickok some time. This round could come in handy against bears on the survival trip
I like how at 0:24 you say that "it's going to release all of its energy and not going to pass through", but then at 2:42 "it went through this many chickens".
Never have used this ammo before but I'm certainly going to try some for myself. I carry a G19 in a waist holster and a KelTech P3AT in a ankle holster. Some times just the KelTech. (Please don't start crapping on KelTech. After some serious fluff and buffs and extra work, over 1000 rounds with no problems) In my 380 I typically run CorBon 380 Auto ammo in it. This looks like a great new substitute. I hope it's easy to find. It's a real pin to find what I use now.
Digging the vids! And good one with the IV8888 range ;) I will stick with my gold dot and pdx1. A fair amount of testing has been done to this round and it is not that impressive. Oh and its way over-hyped and expensive. So you won't find anything here that you can't find anywhere else when it does perform, and when it doesn't perform you just spent a lot more money and are now dead. Hooray?
I guess I don't understand this new ammo very well, that center part seems like it over penetrates which is not a good thing at all. The whole point of self-defense ammo is to not do that.
EvilDiabolicalTinkering The scary part of DU rounds happens after you have been shot, because it still have some radioactivity and fucks you up, can give you cancer, so its not the wound itself that kills you, it also has a lot of penetration, maybe it is a good AT shell?
***** the high density is what it's all about.. Which yes leads to high penetration. The main issue is not the "radioactivities" but the residual affect it leaves on the area later. It causes high amounts of pollution..
+Ola Nordmann Depleted uranium is called depleted because the radioactive isotopes have been filtered out for use in nuclear reactors. It's actually LESS radioactive than naturally occurring uranium (about 60% less, actually) However, as with most heavy metals, its highly toxic. The reason militaries use it is because its a byproduct of nuclear industry, and its the heaviest naturally occurring element.
My experience with defense ammo has been limited to Lehigh Defense Extreme Penetrator, Precision One HP/XTP, Federal HST, Hornaday XTP, Sig Sauer Elite V-Crown, Speer Gold Dot, and Magtech Guardian Gold with the Federal HST’s penetration, expansion, and consistency taking 1st place. I’m anxious to try out the G2’s offerings. I’m not surprised by the lack of substantial penetration of the G2’s performance due to the expansion of the trocars slowing the round down upon impact and initial penetration. Great vids! keep them coming.
If you watch the independent reviews, you'll find it isn't that impressive. The fragments don't penetrate deep enough to cause much damage. One guy here on youtube said it would probably cause nasty flesh wounds, but would havethe killing power of a .22
totallyunmotivated I know. I asked because I was just wondering. If the video was from a long time ago, the ammo might have been improved upon since then.
I don't know about these things. This round seems like it's meant to maim in the most horrible way possible, rather than kill. The copper petals are cool to see in the ballistics gel, but what are they doing really? It looks like the ballistics gel was improperly mixed (look how much penetration the core had). It that's true, the little pieces of copper are probably not going to be deep enough to cause immediately mortal wounds. Instead, you're going to cause maximum suffering, and make medical assistance less effective. I feel like these rounds aren't made to be more lethal... they're made to be less humane. Stick to hollow point imo.
When firing a gun you are punching holes into a human body in the hopes that you hit and artery, organ or whatever it and shuts down the attack. Most wound channels more chances to hit arteries, organs and so on... Personally I like them.
Ghondi1 My point is that the extra wound channels aren't going to go deep enough to hit vital organs. You're better off with a hollow point if that's your purpose.
It doesn't have to hit vital organs. Arteries aren't as deep as organs. Also all that power it is going to release into the body instead of passing through is going through is a good thing. IMO The more holes the better chance of stopping and or hitting something to eliminate the threat, But to each their own. I will pick up some of these soon as I get a chance.
Arteries are much deeper in the torso than they are in the extremities. You need to get several inches in before you have a good chance of hitting something that will end the threat. As far as releasing all of the energy in the target, that tends not to be a problem unless you're using FMJ. Hollow points stop inside the body of your target just fine.
Falcrist They're not "petals" the ammunition is made in such a way where the actual projectile splits until its base, the base being more solid allows the split part of the projectile to expand at a greater rate than a hollow point. Like a parachute I guess would be a simple way to explain it. They're not designed to cause extra wound channels its to expand the shock, slowing the bullet so most of its energy can be dumped into the target, because the hydra static shock is much more deadly than the actual tearing of the projectile
This ammo is all hype. Any standard hollow point round will do far more damage than this. You want the projectile to expand and impart 100% of it's energy into the target, not pass through like this round does. Very impractical. But it does look cool.
It's not meant for massive damage, it's meant for massive pain. Cus when defending yourself, you don't necessarily want to kill the guy, and imagine having not only a light gunshot wound, but multiple steaming hot copper barbs embedded in your muscle tissue.
Annalee H You shoot to kill, plain and simple. This round is not as effective as standard HP round. Nothing you just typed corresponds at all to real life self defense shootings.
Ben Duke hollow points are defense rounds. ALL projectiles could go through walls. It depends on the wall, load, and velocity. Hollow points can pass through human bodies, too. All depends on who you're shooting, where it hits, velocity, etc.
This is a round that will affect larger portions of the body as opposed to a single wound channel. If a JHP hits the chest, but not the heart, aorta, carotid or diaphram, it's a wound and not a kill. With a RIP round, a petal could hit any one of those and that is a kill and a very painful kill at that.
I can't believe some of the uninformed, ignorant comments here... Thanks for the review, the ammo is just fantastic and does just what it's supposed to do destroy the target/attacker. Bravo! I'm impressed... a definite carry ammo for the 380.
Wrong. This ammo sucks, because the fragments don't penetrate enough to reach the vitals. It's barely more effective than fmj. YOU are the uninformed, ignorant one.
Shooting someone in the chest with 1 9mm round of RIP is the equivalent of shooting someone with a fragmenting 22lr then a round nose 22lr out of a pistol. It will still kill yes but its no where near the performance of other JHP rounds. Out of a rifle this preforms decently.
12jason223 how is this crap any decent out of a rifle? 9mm gains relatively little speed out of longer barrels, and even if it did, the low mass of the trocars wouldn't allow them to penetrate much more
Nicoló Aldrovandi .22BMG not the pistol calibers. They have 300 black out that does decent in ballistics gel. By no means is this amazing or extremely deadly ammo.
This is made in my home, and current, town of Winder, GA. I'm waiting for .45 ACP version of these rounds. They're beastly. They're also supposed to make 12 gauge slugs
I have an idea for you . I've noticed that you like to shoot chickens , what if you get a lil bigger animal like pig or something that nature and after you shot it with different kind of ammo get an xray machine to show the bullet and bullet penetration of organs etc. That would be really cool looking and very unique. I'm not sure how much $ is xray machine and how you will do it , but it's up to you to figure that one out ;) GL P.S. I'm actually Russian so as always... Have a nice DAY!
Ive been very curious about the effectiveness of these rounds great video being able to see it penetrate several substances was really informative on how well it works.
A regular FMJ or JHP round will do just fine in self defense. The shockwave generated by the bullets impact and travel through your flesh usually drops or stops someone in their tracks, aside from the pain and flesh tearing associated with it. This? Well, this is just fucked up. This is strictly made to kill. Whats that? Missed all vital organs? Hey no problem, with this round you'll plink them all with 1 shot. Christ
sacr3 while a knife can be used to kill and as a tool for surgery to heal someone, you won't find a firearm in the same setting. Of course it's fucked up and of course it's strictly made to kill, that is what firearms were designed to do.
Kevill Exactly, And more than half of the people see them as toys, as fun pieces of metal that "can't kill", where a knife is on the same level as a gun. Yea, stabbing someone is just as effective as shooting someone, lets give our military knives instead. Oh wait, it takes a lot more effort and you can fight off a knife attack easily. Guns on the other hand? You can stand 10 feet away and pile 8+ rounds into their flesh just because you blacked out from rage because buddy cut you off on the road. Only for you to realize what you did afterwards, filled with guilt, suicidal, while being fucked in jail. Guns make it too easy, WAY, to easy. You point, the person cowards. All you have to do is flick your finger.. thats it... point.. and flick.. Whereas a knife? Or a bat? Or a rock? No, you have to actually run at them, hit them, or stab them while they punch back and all during this you get hurt and may pull out, they may take the weapon from you, you may lose.. its too much effort.. Hence why it doesn't occur as often, deaths related to those attacks are minimal. But a gun?
Kevill Good, but unfortunately there are a lot mentally unstable individuals that do carry firearms. Thats why we have such a high death rate related to Firearms.. Now its near mandatory to carry a firearm, since all the maniacs own one as well. Only way to protect yourself now.
sacr3 I haven't found any evidence to support that statement. Unless you mean illegally carry in which case, yeah. They'll do that anyway, they do in the UK, Australia, China, Japan, all that good stuff where the guns are of course banned or heavily controlled. My biggest worry is what is backed by solid evidence when it comes to lawfully carrying individuals. That worry being that a few too many are total idiots. Hur dur I shot my son while cleaning my gun. ????? How is that even possible, you don't.. I mean.. you.. clean.. but.. clean a gun you take it apart.. so.. you can be certain that in those cases it's all lies and they fucked up and did something unsafe, etc. Or women thinking their 4 year old child can't pull the trigger on mommy's gun in her purse.
Yeah. When he said "that's pretty damn impressive" I was like *"WTF? This is shit!"* It might be good for rabbits/coyotes/crazy chickens but not humans.
I'm pretty sure this video is an ad for RIP ammo. Just about every gun/ammo review site I read has concluded that this is ammo is a gimmick and that traditional JHPs such as the Speer Gold Dot or the Federal HST are better in every way.
@@wojtekimbier You're welcome to be the target at 5 meters. It usually doesn't penetrate as deep as it did with the chickens, but you're not going to put a bandaid over the wound...I'll stick with my Hornady Critical Duty, just as good as Speer Gold Dot.
This is an awesome round. The points breach the surface of whatever you shoot, and the slug in the rear of the projectile just keeps on going through whatever hole you punched. Wonder how much it costs...
I much prefer this style of production without the background music and the silly shots with a second camera that you're not looking at. It's much nicer to watch; feels like it used to be. Hope to see more like it!
"This round is not as effective..." blah blah blah. People don't realize that while its not going to leave a fucking baseball sized hole in somebody, the incredible amount of internal bleeding these would cause (especially with 2-3 rounds) will drop somebody just as quick if not quicker than anything else
its been proven in multiple test videos of it going through a bunch of different materials before hitting the target and still performing as it says, but everybody shits their pants over the initial kinetic transfer and disregards what the round actually does
deltawolf1124 Ignoring the fact that Liberty has made almost identical ammo for a while now, Speer Gold Dot is demonstrably better in regards to temporary cavity (aka the "stopping power"). See, when a bullet hits soft tissue, the temporary cavity is what displaces important bits and causes oh so good hydrostatic shock, all of these things are what brings someone down in a defense situation. You can quickly look up Guns' slow mo with RIP and BrassFetcher's slow mo with 9mm Speer Gold Dot and pause at the largest point of temporary cavity. Not only does the Gold Dot have a deeper initial temporary cavity from impact, but the overall cavity is also larger, meaning more displacement of vital bits and more hydrostatic shock. Because RIP breaks apart so quickly, the core is the only thing carrying the temporary cavity deep into tissues, and it is quite small. Would RIP be a bastard to deal with medically? Sure, but that doesn't make it more effective at putting down someone when you need to. And that's just Gold Dot, there's also hydra-shock and golden saber to talk about among others that do the job quite possibly better. These "tests" are riddled with people calling it a gimmick round, which it basically is. This is the new Black Talon.
im perfectly aware that the temp wound cavity is smaller, thats what i was talking about with everybody pointing out that with this round. that being said, im still pretty sure that with the main wound channel, and all the secondary fragment channels will cause more than significant damage to put the target down, increasing exponentially with multiple rounds
deltawolf1124 The wounds do not put targets down, unless they hit vital organs. Hydrostatic shock and organ displacement put targets down. I'd much rather put my faith in the shock that you can cause hitting anywhere than hoping something vaguely random manages to hit a vital organ and not just get rammed in a bone, which is totally likely. Someone on yotuube did a gel/rib test where the shards barely made it through the ribs, and very well may not in real scenarios. All and all, a shot to the stomach with a standard HP will always beat one with one of these on stopping power, though RIP may have better wound potential.
This round beautifully does what one would guess it would do based on the design. It penetrates hard objects but fragments immediately in tissue. The caveat is when penetrating a hard enough object like glass the fragmenting part is null and void. The marketing and price is why it gets hate because there's no way a reasonable person would use this as an end-all carry round when nearly any popular JHP will outperform given the common metrics in given situations. So long as it fed properly I'd definitely use this in the right situation, like trying to unload on someone who broke into my condo. Unless someone is wearing armor or 5 layers of genuine leather I don't see why several of these to the chest area would not more or less guarantee punctured lungs and heart, while also delivering an impressive amount of energy for a frangible round. Since I DO have some v-crowns though I think I'd save the RIPs as some kind of collectors item haha.
Yep man... The round enters, and only a tiny piece exits...the fragmenteds doesn't seem to penetrate ideally. Not used by law enforcement, so much more research has to be done. if a projectile loses pieces, it will lose most of the energy. And we want a big punch to the chest to give the first knockout pain and great permanent cavity.
So I'd imagine a Self Defense round to be something designed as a less lethal alternative that disables the target or makes them easier to subdue/ get away from. Like a Rubber Bullet or something, for instance. This looks like it's just meant to kill the fuck out of someone. Effective, yes... But why not just get regular hollow point or something?
Of course you would want a 1 shot kill self-defense round. Why would you shoot an attacker once and have him live? That way he will sue the shit out of you and you will end up in court with lawsuits. Of course a 1 shot kill is the way to go.
Because if you kill him they still have to investigate you for murder, because wheather or not it was self defense you will still have killed someone. I would prefer not to have to kill someone when I can just incapacitate them, and I would also never like to be in court facing possible murder charges.
You don't want the bullet to penetrate like with the gel. This round looks pretty and causes nasty wounds, but I'm certain that a side-by-side comparison of it vs. a JHP, the JHP's gonna have far more stopping power.
Stopping power? Do you mean the force that's going to send that JHP into some innocent bystander 35 feet behind the target that is threatening your life because you choke in that moment? Or through your thin apartment wall into your neighbours chest when the shot intended for the person threatening your life and property misses? This round destabilizes and loses most of it's energy at about 15 feet, preventing unintended casualties. It can be stopped within 4-6 layers of drywall. It also exerts a majority of it's energy when it hits a fleshy target, and can penetrate most standard clothing while minimizing overpenetration. It's intended for self defence. It does self defense well.
Ricky O'Donnell No, I mean energy exerted into the target when it hits. This thing splits apart and part of it went right through that ballistic gel meaning that not all energy was put into one spot of the target. In that regard, it kinda reminds me of how you're supposed to travel on thin ice, spreading out your weight over a great distance to ensure you cause less damage to the ice and therefore don't fall through. Granted, yes, it would be nice to not to maximum damage to the wrong target (though last time I checked destabilized rounds do far more damage when they keyhole). However, if that's the only selling point then I ain't buying. Anyways, let's agree to disagree. This is an argument over the internet, no one is gonna give.
Loved it I've been looking at these rounds ever since I've heard of them. It's awesome that you did a video with the 380. I have the Smith & Wesson bodyguard 380 and was wondering about this round. Thanks.
This round is not good!! It failed all FBI testing. The pieces don't penetrate deep enough into a human, think skin, muscle, bone, organs, plus clothing. All these change person to person. It's been proved a .2lr is better for self defense than this round. It sheds all it's weight causing a minor flesh wound and the core doesn't have enough weight to penetrate deep enough to put down your assailant. This isn't a video game or movie, people don't go down with one shot and they DO shoot back unless you can stop them. Handguns are all under power in this, but you must stack your odds. You need good penetration 12-18 inchs in 10% ballistics gel covered with 4 layers of denim(FBI), then you take the rounds that penetrated best and most reliable to those depths and you choose one that had the best expansion with penetration. This G2 bullshit will NOT cut it!!
hmm, if it was cheep,, i guess it could be used as a varmint round, coyotes rabbits, rats, snakes , etc but its not, so once again a 22lr wins =/ *shrugs* i dont know what the heck this round is for
Not really. The point of carrying a gun for self defense is to stop the threat. 9mm has the notorious ability to over penetrate, so it can take more rounds. Since this creates so much more damage much quickly with the smaller round, you can stop the threat quicker. You don't shoot to wound, this isn't the movies.
snipesrock I have one thing to say about your comment. You ready? Here it goes: Beautifully stated. If someone is after my three year-old kid (I don't have kids, but still, you get the point), I want to drop them like a bag of meat. I want their shit to be fucked up beyond repair. I want them to be dead. End of fucking story.
You sir are stupid. It's not sociopathic. It's the responsibility of carrying a weapon. You DO NOT shoot to wound. You ONLY shoot to stop the threat. You always aim for center mass, no fancy headshots or limb shots. This isn't hollywood, it's real life. When the threat is stopped, on the ground or running away, you stop firing and stay back until authorities show up. I carry, I have 2 1.5 year old children. I will stop any threat to my family even if it means I have to kill it.
I've seen this round several times but seeing the true devastation of this round is impressive. For home invasions a 12 gauge with buckshot wins me over. But for self defence this could truly make a difference.
A self defense round is meant to kill or stop the attacker as quick as possible. If someone is trying to kill you over money or no reason at all they deserve to die so they cannot continue to harm others. There are murders in every country just because you don't have guns doesn't mean they don't use other means to do their work. Only when world is free of people that have intentions to hurt others is when self defense and the tools to defend ones life will not be needed but for now every good person that values their life and families needs to keep a means of defense
Phoenix8506 Think further than that bud, lot of times these "criminals" aren't out to harm but to scare so they can "survive". Sometimes they're pushed into doing it, sometimes they're raised terribly that this is all they know, sometimes they do it for family, etc, etc. We don't know which ones are scared and doing it because they see no other choice and which ones are doing it for the intent to seriously murder the shit out of you. Some people say "What does it matter?" Well, there are a lot of criminals out there that got caught, spent their time in jail and are now good law abiding citizens that are now working and are friendly. I wouldn't hesitate to kill someone that had the intention of taking my life, but a non-fatal shot + jail is enough to give someone a clear head and a second chance at their 1 life.
In my opinion shoot to kill is key the intruder isn't going to go into your how with a gun and say "can i shoot you but not kill you?" No they aren't going to care treat it as the last day of your life just shoot to kill.
I have always been taught that you shoot to stop a threat. This ammunition appears to be designed to create as much internal damage as possible. By what I see in the video, this round will not only stop a threat, but is much more likely that traditional ammo to cause a fatality. Interested in feedback.
I hope that You and Eric will be working together in the future. With as much as I miss Barry I hope there is a way you could fill in for him. It would be a combination of two of my favorite TH-cam channels. Thanks for the video this bullet looks effective for dispensing a lot of energy in a short distance.
Great video and these rounds seem like they would do a lot of damage to the bad guy because it's almost like being shot multiple times with smaller rounds the way the bullet breaks up and goes multiple directions.
there is some truth to this statement. unfortunately, it would not be a fun day in court explaining to the court that the ammo you used to defend yourself is designed to "kill", with the RIP name. I know that's just a name. But these days, as nit picky as this sounds, I'd rather the ammo has defense on the name. Lawyers will do anything to win against you, even picking on the ammo's name. or at least use a neutral name such as Federal's well documented very good defense round, the HST. Hornady Critical defense 12GA shells in the shotty for the same reason.
Dan Any explanation, or just trolling? Main idea of self defence is self defence, not killing. This bullets is much more deadly and harder to pull out of the body.
TimoteiUA In self defense, you WANT to kill. Honestly, you want the attack taken down so they don't have a chance to further attack/harm you/someone else. But besides the idea of just taking down the target in less shots, these have far less penetration power: EXACTLY what you want in home defense. Let the shot work more on the attacker, less on shooting holes through you walls and potentially hitting someone else. (Obviously it still penetrates, but the velocity is more easily going to be stopped, this way.)
TimoteiUA I'd rather defend myself by killing whoever it is attacking me. It's not about stopping an isolated incident; it's about making sure people know that if they make me a target then they're the ones going in the ground. This round seems to be one of the more effective I've seen on the market, so I think I'll stock up on some of these. Oh, and pay no mind +Dan. There's no excuse for being rude to someone of a different predilection. He (and I suppose I am, too) just believe that there are some things worth taking life, and the defense of myself and my property are enough for me.
TimoteiUA Shooting a guy in leg does not stop him from being a threat nor the arm, you need body shots, hips, guts, chest and head are going to stop the guy; you can't worry about carrying rounds to injure, you need rounds that kill and don't over-penetrate. This round looks incredibly effective to stop a threat, you have to be ready to say, it's this guys life or mine and you have to make that call and if it's just you then you can but if your responsible for the life of say your wife or kids that other person has to be stopped, dead or not it's your duty. If you let your family get hurt or killed cause you couldn't bring yourself to do what had to be done to stop the threat which may very well mean taking a life, than you have failed your duty as a decent human being and a parent and are basically worthless as a human being, sometimes you may be too late to save them or maybe you die before stopping the threat or they get hurt before you can stop the threat but it's your duty to try and go down swinging to protect those people if that's what it takes, I will never let the life of some worthless scum attacking me affect my conscious when it comes to my property and my families lives or my own life, if he tries to do anything, he's going down cause I'd rather be tried by 12 for saving my family than be carried by six for laying down my life cause I wimped out of doing my most important duty.
I'm not a gun nut (Live in the UK, have very limited knowledge on firearms) and I have a question. What's the difference between self defense ammunition and other ammunition? I assumed all ammunition was used for self defense.
All ammunition is used for defense or hunting or for target practice, but standard ammo has not had any major innovations in shape or effectiveness for the caliber. But specialised defense ammo will be specifically made for maximum damage against human targets. The R.I.P. round for instance still has the main solid bullet that flys straight but due to the fragmented design, when it impacts an object or person,it also has other projectiles that create those multiple other would channels that you can see in the ballistics gel. So instead of just one whole, with R.I.P. ammo for instance can give you 9 seperate wounds in a cone shaped patters for maximum damage inside and out, including the accurate and straight main wound channel.
PlainSailingWeather Self Defense ammo is often times more safe for other people as well because most bullets people use to shoot at the range is FMJ, which basically means no holes at the tip and they will rip threw a person like paper but Self Defense ammo often times stays in the body or will slow down significantly as to not harm a person if the bullet were to go through the person you want to hit and hit someone you didn't want to.
Simple: Self defense ammunition was designed to deal the most damage to the soft human flesh when hit. The most common self defense ammo are the hollow points. The name speaks for itself, the tip of of projectile is carved out so instead of the normal bullet that will penetrate through a person, the projectile will deform into a shape that will tear more human tissues, causing more internal wounds and ultimately a whole lot more lethal. Same goes with the RIP round as FPSRussia shown what happen inside the ballistic jell. Now one thing that is IMPORTANT to REMEMBER is that self defense ammunition WILL FAIL to penetrate, hence it's purpose, so it will be useless against body armor and shooting through thicker clothing and or maybe through walls to down your potential threat.
There are a lot of resources out there testing different cartridges in different calibers shot through different guns. It boils down to small improvements in bullet expansion and increasing the size of the wound. There is no "perfect" ammo. www.ar15.com/ammo/project/Self_Defense_Ammo_FAQ/
Im always shocked that this ammunition is actually legal to the general public in order to inflict as much physical damage to someones body as possible... Ofcourse, as a British person, im always amazed that people are allowed guns anyway im america. The reason given for having it? Personal defence. Do you ever think, that the reason you need to 'defend' yourself is because this shit is legal?
The reason why American's have guns, is so we can protect ourselves from all threats, foreign or domestic. Us having firearms, was supposed to be the peoples way of keeping the government in check. To defend ourselves from tyranny. Now have many of our citizens forgotten this? Absolutely. But the few responsible gun owners like myself have not.
ikr, there are two ways either no one has guns, you don't need a armoured helicopter for the president or personal defense weapons or everyone has bazookas and get's to kill each other in a free for all.
If 'this shit' was illegal, law abiding citizens wouldn't be able to get their hands on self defense weapons like the LCP and similar small carry pistols just like in Britain, and just like in Britain, the citizens that do not abide by the law WILL be able to get weapons. Most of the time, weapons much much worse than a .380ACP Ruger LCP or 9mm handgun. The only reason to take weapons from citizens is to enslave them. Your government does not give a flying fuck what happens after that. I should know, I live in Britain.
The reason this "shit" is legal is so law abiding citizens can defend themselves against criminals who don't give a shit about what's legal and what isn't.
If you want your target to bleed out over time, then go with many small wound channels. If you want the target to drop quickly, then you want the mass to stay in one piece for maximum cavitation and organ displacement.
I have been looking for a decent chicken defense round. This will make me feel more safe when I am patrolling the barnyard. Never know when the chickens will stage an uprising. it's good to know that this round will go through multiple chickens because they walk in single file to hide their numbers .
You seemed serious
So that's what an American version of the movie chicken run would be like.
DB0Adamski Well it would not have lasted as long... I will tell you that much
;-)
There's a chicken rebellion in the song "Cows With Guns"..you should take a look
Lmmfao
This has to be the most accurate and official ammo test I ever seen. . After all , it was done with the expert wearing a white lab coat. Lol
Not for every shooter but face it, anyone in a position to be shot with this round is definitely having a bad day.
"your going to have the opposite of a good time"
*bang bang*
As is every bullet ya clown
Thumbs up if you want to see his gun room. If we keep it up he will do a new video on it lol
i wanta see his ammo room not his gun room cause he has a room just for ammo in his house
torell95secto i feel like the ammo room was a pka joke because woody lefty and wings were the only ones saying that kyle didnt comment
whos kyle were talking about fpsrussia who kyle works for ;) and you need to listen again
torell95secto Kyle and FPSRussia are the same guy.
You clearly are not a fpskyle fan.. those were all inside jokes
This popped up in my recommended years after I first watched it. We miss you :(
That ballistic gel is great, I'd love to see more shots into it using different guns and ammunition.
May be my brain is slow, but when your fired .38 on the melon I heard your words "Absolute Devastation" in my head, even before you said it.
It's called lag. That happens to videos when there's a fluctuation in your internet speed.
Holy F**k! I said "Absolute Devastation" right before he did too! I think I am going crazy lol
He fired a revolver? I saw him shoot a semi-auto pistol with .380 auto ammo at a watermelon...

FPSRussia + The slow mo guys = omg epicness
Disrespectful of human life? No... No... If someone tries to rape or kill my wife or daughter, I want them to empty the entire mag into them.
With the price of ammunition these days, i would probably stick with 2 or 3 rounds...
wordiestdata the price of ammunition huh? So I take it you only value your loved ones at 3 rounds per attacker/rapist then? I'll stick with putting rounds in an attacker until my gun goes "click" thanks.
mpk1414 I'd rather empty every last round into the enemy that's attacking me or a family member. Much more satisfying. And there will be absolutely no doubt that my target is very, very, very neutralized.
How much chickens? THIS MUCH CHICKENS!
LOL
This guy had the best channel on TH-cam bar none. He got screwed
Thank you FPS Russia for taking the time to answer my request. I can't wait to see what's next.
Please, more of the gel, it shows really good what the bullet does.
That's Some KickAss Ammo!!!
The hood sheds many tears for the loss of so many chickens and a watermelon, R.I.P.
I think it would be much better if you used regular ammo to shoot the same targets when you use special ammo, this way we can really see the difference.
That ballistic gel was awesome as well
It's nice to see these videos again for some time it looked like this channel would never see another video
Haha sweet you're at IV8888's range! Would love to see you do a collab with him and Hickok some time. This round could come in handy against bears on the survival trip
Sphinx isn't made by Kriss it is imported by them though just thought I would point that out. Sweet ass CZ type pistol but they are really expensive.
Your givin KFC a run for their money!!!
We want CHICKENS!!!
And good one with the IV8888 range ;)
I will stick with my gold dot and pdx1.
I never seen such a scary ammo type, those copper tips make for realy nasty wounds! :O
Depleted uranium rounds?
***** It's a tossup, in my opinion. DU incinerates everything, but it doesn't rip apart human (or chicken) bodies like that.
Glad to see FPS back in action.
My experience with defense ammo has been limited to Lehigh
Defense Extreme Penetrator, Precision One HP/XTP, Federal HST, Hornaday XTP,
Sig Sauer Elite V-Crown, Speer Gold Dot, and Magtech Guardian Gold with the
Federal HST’s penetration, expansion, and consistency taking 1st place.
I’m anxious to try out the G2’s offerings. I’m not surprised by the lack
of substantial penetration of the G2’s performance due to the expansion of the
trocars slowing the round down upon impact and initial penetration. Great vids!
keep them coming.
This is some pretty nasty ammo. If you really want to mess someone up, use this.
If you watch the independent reviews, you'll find it isn't that impressive. The fragments don't penetrate deep enough to cause much damage. One guy here on youtube said it would probably cause nasty flesh wounds, but would havethe killing power of a .22
totallyunmotivated How long ago was that video made?
xNED37x Not a goddamn clue. I do know it wasn't a sponsored video, this one seems to be. Just something to keep in mind.
totallyunmotivated I know. I asked because I was just wondering. If the video was from a long time ago, the ammo might have been improved upon since then.
xNED37x This ammo just came out.
Nice to see you at the IV8888 compound. Is there a collab coming?
This RIP ammo brings a whole new meaning to Rest In Pieces
Nice to come back to watch this upgraded FPSR
This ammo is all hype. Any standard hollow point round will do far more damage than this. You want the projectile to expand and impart 100% of it's energy into the target, not pass through like this round does. Very impractical. But it does look cool.
It's not meant for massive damage, it's meant for massive pain. Cus when defending yourself, you don't necessarily want to kill the guy, and imagine having not only a light gunshot wound, but multiple steaming hot copper barbs embedded in your muscle tissue.
Annalee H You shoot to kill, plain and simple. This round is not as effective as standard HP round.
Nothing you just typed corresponds at all to real life self defense shootings.
also if you miss hollow points will go through drywall. Defence rounds wont. if you have kids it wont endanger them.
12jason223 that is called "ripout", not just "rip". It's a totally different design more akin to the barnes tsx and the like
Them poor chickens. Good news is, copper aint poisonous you can still have a bar b que.
😄
This is made in my home, and current, town of Winder, GA. I'm waiting for .45 ACP version of these rounds. They're beastly. They're also supposed to make 12 gauge slugs
Dude, if they made 12 gauge slugs... Gonna be awesome. They already make it in .300 Blackout
What's up fellow winderian?
Newhere Huh? Good old Winder, GA lol
Yay you shot ballistic gel i wanted that for a while now so thanks and those bullets do look scary. Great video!
Nice one! Have nice day!
Cool! Especially that first experiment! :D
I have an idea for you . I've noticed that you like to shoot chickens , what if you get a lil bigger animal like pig or something that nature and after you shot it with different kind of ammo get an xray machine to show the bullet and bullet penetration of organs etc. That would be really cool looking and very unique. I'm not sure how much $ is xray machine and how you will do it , but it's up to you to figure that one out ;) GL
P.S. I'm actually Russian so as always... Have a nice DAY!
Ive been very curious about the effectiveness of these rounds great video being able to see it penetrate several substances was really informative on how well it works.
Это самое лучшее и красивое произношение какое я когда либо слышал ))
But a gun?
sacr3 I carry a firearm, but I don't blackout from rage. Hopefully I'll be fine.
Calling this "self defense ammunition" is dubious at best.
Yeah. When he said "that's pretty damn impressive" I was like *"WTF? This is shit!"* It might be good for rabbits/coyotes/crazy chickens but not humans.
I'm pretty sure this video is an ad for RIP ammo.
Just about every gun/ammo review site I read has concluded that this is ammo is a gimmick and that traditional JHPs such as the Speer Gold Dot or the Federal HST are better in every way.
ntnwwnet
There IS the whole "heavier bleeding" thing, though.
@@wojtekimbier You're welcome to be the target at 5 meters. It usually doesn't penetrate as deep as it did with the chickens, but you're not going to put a bandaid over the wound...I'll stick with my Hornady Critical Duty, just as good as Speer Gold Dot.
why no more high speed? :( since the scar vid you stopped em
watch the video he posted yesterday. .50 BMG and Hominy in super slo mo.
Assuming the goofy design doesn't underpenetrate and leave you a box of fucked.
its been proven in multiple test videos of it going through a bunch of different materials before hitting the target and still performing as it says, but everybody shits their pants over the initial kinetic transfer and disregards what the round actually does
deltawolf1124
Ignoring the fact that Liberty has made almost identical ammo for a while now, Speer Gold Dot is demonstrably better in regards to temporary cavity (aka the "stopping power").
This is the new Black Talon.
im perfectly aware that the temp wound cavity is smaller, thats what i was talking about with everybody pointing out that with this round. that being said, im still pretty sure that with the main wound channel, and all the secondary fragment channels will cause more than significant damage to put the target down, increasing exponentially with multiple rounds
deltawolf1124
The wounds do not put targets down, unless they hit vital organs.
I think id feel kinda guilty for second if I shot someone with one of these rounds.
I wouldnt
Why are you at "Iraqveteran8888's" range?
looks like it
Ryan Peck it says "filmed and edited by iraqiveteran" at the end.
neeedleinahaystack bcus there both from Georgia, outside of Atlanta to be exact.
G405T_SNIPER_910, I was replying to Ryan Peck. Just pointing out that it IS vets range.
hes right 3:58
This round beautifully does what one would guess it would do based on the design. Since I DO have some v-crowns though I think I'd save the RIPs as some kind of collectors item haha.
same shopping channel feel man, you need to go back to the old days man
don't take his word on this ammo. do research first. Not as great as he makes it seem.
***** Pretty much. Unless you live in East LA and can't stay out of trouble: Probably no use for something like this.
I guess it's just a real pain in the ass for any doctor having to pull this out of a burglar.
Annalee H If you aren't shooting to kill you shouldn't be shooting at all.
It’s 2019 and people still talk about this being a gimmick
Just bought me some
For my ar15
Ricky O'Donnell I think you're confusing JHP with FMJ since JHP bullets are designed to not over penetrate as well.
Despite that, I think the 8 "wound channels" mean *there will be blood*.
Loved it I've been looking at these rounds ever since I've heard of them. It's awesome that you did a video with the 380. I have the Smith & Wesson bodyguard 380 and was wondering about this round. Thanks.
don't buy it
If I ever have to use this ammo I'll make sure to aim for the head just to see what it would look like
Haha
IV8888 range??
Yup :)
This G2 bullshit will NOT cut it!!
with a youtube name like that i think ur just talkin bullshit
Bailey Greathead
Shootingthebull has already proved what demongawl said, but I'm sure you won't take me serious because of my name either.
its a great round and personally i use it
SirFornicateRectum HAHA!
hmm, if it was cheep,, i guess it could be used as a varmint round, coyotes rabbits, rats, snakes , etc but its not, so once again a 22lr wins =/ *shrugs* i dont know what the heck this round is for
I want to see home roast marshmallows by shooting bags of marshmallows with a 12-Gauge loaded with Dragon's Breath.
Love it! You should make more videos like this. Good to know what's new and tested on the market.
Yeahh.....anti-personnel round, definitely. But if you're using this for self-defence you're probably kinda fucked up in the head...lol
You ready?
Here it goes:
Beautifully stated.
I will stop any threat to my family even if it means I have to kill it.
snipesrock Fucking beautifully stated, sir. *salutes*
snipesrock
It's better to shoot to kill. As long as your enemies draw breath, there can be no peace.
I'll stick with my hornady critical defense
"self defense"
Uganda Knuckles can you explain why this ammo is useless and why it would get yourself killed for using it??
I've seen this round several times but seeing the true devastation of this round is impressive. For home invasions a 12 gauge with buckshot wins me over. But for self defence this could truly make a difference.
Awesome demonstration as always! That ammo is pretty damn nice.
they should make these for a 12 guage
finale shooting at something not explosive and will hurl metal at you camera man.
Complete unrelated to the ammo, but did anyone see hope ripe the watermelon looked lol.
jmmyjimmy106 yep, it looked so tasty and sweet :P
+Horsedick.MPEG I was thinking the same thing.. As a black man I cried a little inside.
Can you use ballistics gel as a target again? And maybe in super slow mo if possible. That looked awesome!
I always heard that bullets made like that but I never seen it until now this was incredible video
+sacr3 And I don't care what their "reason" may be. If they threaten me or mine, it may not go well for them. End of story.
In my opinion shoot to kill is key the intruder isn't going to go into your how with a gun and say "can i shoot you but not kill you?" No they aren't going to care treat it as the last day of your life just shoot to kill.
Agree jcp1918
Well I know what I'm getting for my carry round.

AdamIZxMiiDNIGHT you say #murica yet the whole point of the channel is Russian
Jack7296 Nope, still American.
Great video and these rounds seem like they would do a lot of damage to the bad guy because it's almost like being shot multiple times with smaller rounds the way the bullet breaks up and goes multiple directions.
Great info man. Love what you do keep shooting shit!! Love from KC MO
sweet murder round!
there is some truth to this statement. unfortunately, it would not be a fun day in court explaining to the court that the ammo you used to defend yourself is designed to "kill", with the RIP name.
Michael Wang Heard dat yo!
Jive Turkey How did you feel when you saw that chicken being mistreated?
Demic shit i just thought das a shame dat chicken aint gonna be fried up. know what i sayin yo.
@@vegas2kse I'd say most ammo is designed to kill
this bullets looks pretty inhumanely, especially for self defence =/
Your stupidity causes more harm than these bullets.
TimoteiUA
Shooting a guy in leg does not stop him from being a threat nor the arm, you need body shots, hips, guts, chest and head are going to stop the guy; you can't worry about carrying rounds to injure, you need rounds that kill and don't over-penetrate.
What a waist of chicken.
His waist looks fine. I don't think he eats too much chicken.
Come back when you can use the right "waste"
Sir Reginald Ah right I see thank you very much.
PlainSailingWeather
Self Defense ammo is often times more safe for other people as well because most bullets people use to shoot at the range is FMJ, which basically means no holes at the tip and they will rip threw a person like paper but Self Defense ammo often times stays in the body or will slow down significantly as to not harm a person if the bullet were to go through the person you want to hit and hit someone you didn't want to.
Love the ballistic gel. Hope to see that again in future videos! Great video, as always :)
Who is your daddy and what does he do?
Bro what

Nice fake accent bro... I doubt it would get you through the first check point in Saint Petersburg
He does not hide the fact that its fake....he posted a video on it jew troll.
+numb3r6 numb3r6 Jew troll?
Good point but still guns are awesome
ikr, there are two ways either no one has guns, you don't need a armoured helicopter for the president or personal defense weapons or everyone has bazookas and get's to kill each other in a free for all.
Awesome new vid. Thanks again for using every day fire arms.
If you want your target to bleed out over time, then go with many small wound channels. If you want the target to drop quickly, then you want the mass to stay in one piece for maximum cavitation and organ displacement.
This video is racist...
He shot the chicken then the water melon :,(
Breaks my heart
U know that this isnt his actual voice hes american ive seen it in an early episode he doesnt live in russia

You sound exactly like Yakov Smirnoff. Pretty cool. Nice work here comrade.
Very nice round.
