Iconic guitarist, iconic band... These guys are in a class all by themselves. Undeniably, the biggest/baddest sound from any three guys together on the planet.
One of the most underrated guitarists of all time. And im not talking about steve vai robot shred skills Im talking about creativity and melody. His solos dont sound like a spliced in solo they sound like a part of the song that needs to be there. Love alex lifeson.
This is why this band has lived on and keeps getting better. All the members are the tops. Alex is super he seems like a real nice dude. They really care about there fans no fake bs. Thanks Alex for taking the time to tell us fans about your awesome gear I truly love it. I love Rush always have. Rock on!
Love hearing Alex talk about his gear. He's not usually the most verbose during other interviews so it's nice to see him talk enthusiastically about the stuff he loves.
I've been a Rush fan for many years..as a player, I'm refreshed by how nice Alex is...just a regular guy. I love that. He's a great player with his feet firmly on the ground. Thank you Alex!
I first saw Rush in 1978 and I am still blown away by the bands talent level. Alex has been an inspiration ever since that first show. He is so cool and an amazing guitarist. Keep making the great music Alex and Rush!
Alex Lifeson is one of my fav players/musicians and RUSH so far has been my fav live band to see....I am hoping to get one of these amps/cabinets soon :) These guys are very humble down to earth and very inspiring even to those who are not musicians and to many people of ALL ages. Thanks so much for posting!
He is such a nice bloke! He sounds like he is talking in a music shop in a small town... not on a massive stage with like £15k's worth of gear. Thanks for the video!
I wouldn't expect a guy who is goofing off SO much of the time to be so informative and focussed in this bit. It's very friendly and light hearted b ut very much to the point. Now I can see how this wall of sound is created.
I truly, truly LOVE these guys. They are so talented and personable. No egos. Just wonderful, ordinary guys doing extraordinary things. God bless RUSH!!!!
I love mine! It's exactly like Alex said. You can do anything with this Guitar as far as switching from lead/crunch/clean/Acustic+Floyd Rose trem. I've had mine since new in 2011 (low serial number) and I'm glad Alex took a couple of years to develop this one couse it sure paid off for me. I have 5 Gibsons, 1 USA Charvell, some acoustics but, nothing compares to the Alex Lifeson Les Paul and I don't even play Ruch songs! This LP even beats by far my Brand New Les Paul Standand 2013!
The above video features one of the three legends that grace that stage. Excellent stuff, even for a non-musician. It's interesting to see what is used to make such great music. Alex seems like a great guy. Probably because he is !
The "NO IDOT STOP' button is the copy button. Tap it - and then tap any other button and you will copy your current setting onto that new button - wiping the settings that were there previously.
I've loved the music of Rush since I was 13. Alex is a great influence for me. I sometimes think his solos have a bit of humor to them, in a good way! He's a very inventive and creative musician.
I don't play guitar. I hardly know how any of this equipment works or why. Alex might as well be speaking in Chinese, but I just love listening to him talk. It's clear that four decades on, he's still having a hell of a time.
Everything is so new... and neat, most of the gear rundowns usually look weatherd and somewhat used. Everyhting here looks like he just bought it yesterday. Awesome either way!!
In the Premier Guitar Rig Rundown though Scott Appleton says Lerxst isn't using the 2x12 cabinets on this 2011 leg of the tour, they are for show only. His signal is going from the amps straight to the board and the cabs are bypassed completely.
The sunburst one is such a beautiful guitar, I'd love to take one home with me. And Alex himself... such a lovely grounded guy, wold love to have a pint or a smoke with him ! RUSH forever !!
A very interesting video. I had no idea that there were so many options available to guitar players, but of course, one also would need the money for all of that as well but, very interesting though.
Seriously, Lifeson is the greatest. I wish I could sit and talk to him and Geddy. Who wouldn't consider them the greatest band of all time!?! Be prepared music world. When we no longer have these guys, along with their contemporaries, we rock fans are screwed.
@InquiringDeist That's the button he hits when he wants to program the pedalboard. It says NO IDIOT STOP so that he doesn't accidentally hit it during the show.
such a class act. i first saw alex and the boys live in 78, on the farewell to kings tour, when they opened for blue oyster cult in providence. ticket/6.50, t shirt/5.00/ program/2.00. best wishes.
His sound on this tour is much more true to the real rush sound versus the really super shimmery treble sound he was into a few years ago. Glad he's playing the Gibson's again.
Such a humble man, one of the many reasons why I love him so much

great interview! Alex has such a easy way about him when he explains things. i could listen to him talk about anything.
A warm and caring man, plus a top guitarist. Alex is a true gentleman.
Wow! He seems like such a nice guy! I would love to just jam with him. I love Rush and his phrasing is incredible.
The most underrated guitarist ever.

Nice to see and hear you Alex.
I LOVE THIS! he is so humble. its so nice to see a guitarist like him thats soooo good yet soo kind!
How refreshing to listen to a competent, articulate working musician talk about their gear.
Alex is an awesome guy i love how he had time to show his rig, instead if his tech doing itm
Excellent video, beautifully shot, recorded (sound/video), lit, edited... Thanks for making this available on youtube.
Agreed, been following them since mid 70's. So great to see they are still just "ordinary guys", AWESOME review of Alex's gear!
Love Rush and Alex is amazing . I miss these guys so much.
Such a gentleman!

3:33 I wish I had a "No Idiot Stop" foot switch :(
This Monster of Rock still be a good boy of town!!!! .I love Rush since my childhood.
I truly, truly LOVE these guys. They are so talented and personable. No egos. Just wonderful, ordinary guys doing extraordinary things. God bless RUSH!!!!
I love Alex. He's so talented and yet so down to earth something very hard to find these days.
What a great video! Loved the information and his explanations on everything. Just love this guy!!
You said it all in a few words. I agree completely, what an amazing career, one that's not over yet by any stretch.
I love mine! It's exactly like Alex said. You can do anything with this Guitar as far as switching from lead/crunch/clean/Acustic+Floyd Rose trem.

He seems like a very humble nice guy. Cant wait to see them in glasgow
THE MAN IS A LEGEND !!!
Great video. Hope to see more of your tour.
Saw them last night in Birmingham, sounded amazing!!!
I've loved the music of Rush since I was 13. Alex is a great influence for me. I sometimes think his solos have a bit of humor to them, in a good way! He's a very inventive and creative musician.
Alex talks and explains things as smoothly as he plays guitar.
What a sound guy Alex is loved the interview !
I don't play guitar. I hardly know how any of this equipment works or why. Alex might as well be speaking in Chinese, but I just love listening to him talk. It's clear that four decades on, he's still having a hell of a time.
The Royal Crimson is an absolutely beautiful guitar!!!
Everything is so new... and neat, most of the gear rundowns usually look weatherd and somewhat used. Everyhting here looks like he just bought it yesterday. Awesome either way!!

Really talented and such a nice bunch of people.
got to hang with Alex in Chicago last night. such a nice guy!
@Billyjoehenry and @ibik the song is called "Leave that thing alone" at 4:26, they were playing it on this tour aswell
Keep on rockin’ Alex. Great interview, very informative! Love your gear....
I went to this show last year in fort lauderdale ...Alex was shreding those guitars man ...awsome show
RUSH is not only a band, RUSH is a state of mind!
I'm seeing Rush on 22nd May!!!! :D:D can't wait!
8 yrs ago, I imagine that was a great show 💯💯
The sunburst one is such a beautiful guitar, I'd love to take one home with me. And Alex himself... such a lovely grounded guy, wold love to have a pint or a smoke with him ! RUSH forever !!
Alex is a hero! What a cool review he did here!!!
If I want an amp named after me though - I'm probably going to have to build it myself....
Just what I wanted! a Rush related vid! YEAH!
Alex is one of my all time favorite guitarist. If you have not seen him live. Do yourself a favor and check them out.
So down to earth!
That Royal Crimson Les Paul is to die for.
A very interesting video. I had no idea that there were so many options available to guitar players, but of course, one also would need the money for all of that as well but, very interesting though.
What a Virtuoso Guitarist. And R.I.P. Neil.
Happy Birthday, Alex!!!
absolutely fantastic guitarist
love the lifeson, my own personal guitar god, and the reason I picked up a guitar.
Great guy, great video.....thanks for sharing
I'm embarrassed to say I only got into Rush this year. Lifeson is my new muse as a guitar player.
It says NO IDIOT STOP so that he doesn't accidentally hit it during the show.
im gonna be workin this show in few days
Lol I saw neil's set all wrapped up in a tarp thing!
such a class act. i first saw alex and the boys live in 78, on the farewell to kings tour, when they opened for blue oyster cult in providence. ticket/6.50, t shirt/5.00/ program/2.00. best wishes.
In any interview, he seems like the friendliest guy around.
One of the good guys in rock and roll and those are hard to find...G...
@ScreenPkr the one towards the end is the spirit of radio
Great guitarist, one of the best I know
So awesome!!!
Bonamassa uses the same speaker emulator rack mounts, interesting video, not many rig rundowns with alex.
Rush is a lot more than just a band, it's a major production!
Such a cool, humble dude.
Fuck. It just hit me that I'll never see Rush live again. Ever.

Those steampunk cabinets are so cool.
Alex is so awesome!
No, the song is The Camera Eye on Moving Pictures.
i saw them tonite!!
@gpal23 The first song is Leave that Thing Alone.
A very peaceful and decent fellow.Never cared for his singer's voice much, but a really talented band from Canada.
i love how one of his switches says 'no idiot stop'
I'm impressed by the victorian front loader washing machines - I wonder if they have a super-quick program for non-permanent colours ...
lovely guy
If you love Alex, be sure to check out a 1973 documentary called "Come on Children", in which he had a significant role. It's on TH-cam.
I can't wait to find out the "NO IDIOT STOP" switch is for.
@Dilanadu
Geddy's gear is a jazz bass and a preamp going into PA, geddy does not fuck around
Awesome!
This is a way better rig rundown interview than the one from Premier Guitar with Rebecca Dirks. Lifeson himself explains his rig.
Awesome stuff
"You know me! You know how much I love Keyboards!"........
Got tix for them in October...Yeah !!!!!!!!
we love rush
You wouldn't expect such a soft spoken nice dude to shread like a god
His sound on this tour is much more true to the real rush sound versus the really super shimmery treble sound he was into a few years ago. Glad he's playing the Gibson's again.
I sometimes forget how Canadian these guys are but then Alex says " I'm going to have to do something aboot that on the next tour."
ALEX is THE man!!!! Rush4EVER
