There are some over-rated guitarists out there that couldn't strum a chord next to Alex Lifeson. Alex is pure awesome and very humble.

Saw him get on stage once at a New Year's Eve event and was blown away. He jammed with a great band for 40 minutes playing blues and jazz that blew people away. I was probably the only person in that crowd that knew he was.
Just a complete, humble, crazy talented guitar player.

Does anyone know the significance (if any) of Alex's 'panther patrol' Boy Scout patch, as seen on his white Aurora guitar he played in the 80's and (maybe) early 90's? As a RUSH fanatic (since '76), I can remember wondering the same thing back in the 80's, and knowing that I had seen that damn patch somewhere before! When cleaning out my dresser drawers back then, I came across the exact same patch (which I took to be a 'cosmic' affirmation that yes, I am a HUGE RUSH fanatic!), and then realized that it was from my Boy Scout days a decade before! So, in summation, I know what it is, but don't know Alex's story! Comments please.

All the guys in Rush are humble and nice guys, although Alex is my favorite. I have always loved guitar and people like Alex make it seem so easy. Add all the effects you want, but if you don't have talent it is just distorted noise. Alex is pretty funny most of the time, but that blah blah blah stuff got on my nerves. From what I understand the HOF people are a bunch of assholes and maybe that is what they deserve. Always a fan Alex. If I seen you in public I would not give you away, but would show you the respect of a man that is accomplished in a major way.

ALEX RULES! He is too fun! He used to put a bag on his head and cig in his mouth and say "I'm Ace" when they toured for KISS. I bet that Gibby is perfect unlike the 3k garbage they sell us mortals.

Neal Schon had the original idea with Gibson, that's a well known fact. Love your playing Alex but didn't you get your idea from Neal on the guitar?

Neal S. is a tool! He fell in to line when the record company said so....Rush never did.

Great guitar player! But why does he look like he's about to cry?

This had nothing to do with his "guitar setup." Although it seemed to have everything to do with his rig.

Alex used PRS guitars pretty much exclusively for years then stopped. Anyone know why? They seem to be nice guitars. Perhaps he was dissatisfied with the sound.

I think they were to modern and he wanted to go back to his roots. Now PRS has a very good PAF and I think he would love them if he wasn't endorsed by Gibson. 59/09 on a custom22 or hollow body 2 I think would fit Alex well.
